In vitro microcosm study of Morchella eximia mycelial growth on post-wildfire burnt soil and charcoal fragments
This study investigates the in vitro growth dynamics of the mycelium of the pyrophilous mushroom Morchella eximia on substrates composed of burnt soil and charcoal fragments. Soil samples were collected one month after a wildfire from a Pinus pinaster forest on Monte Pisano (Italy). These samples were inoculated with M. eximia mycelium, and fungal colonization and development under controlled microcosm conditions were subsequently assessed. The chemical analysis was performed on the burnt soil to quantify macro- and micronutrients. After the mycelial growth, the charcoal structure was examined using attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared (ATR-FTIR) spectroscopy. Additionally, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) was applied to visualize and confirm hyphal colonization of the charcoal. Morchella eximia colonization elicited significant structural alterations in charcoal structure. Spectroscopic analysis demonstrated an increased relative intensity of the primary charcoal band concomitant with a pronounced decrease in the secondary band, indicative of modifications within the charcoal’s structural matrix. Furthermore, reduced spectral signals observed near 1169 cm⁻¹, corresponding to C–O functional groups in lignin-derived phenolic compounds, provide evidence for chemical transformations occurring in the charcoal. These results highlight the potential involvement of pyrophilous fungi in the degradation of charcoal and emphasize the necessity for further investigations to clarify their ecological functions and long-term effects on fungal community dynamics

Mapping Scenarios for the Netherlands in 2050
Maps are powerful tools to communicate and discuss the content of spatial scenarios with policymakers, planners and the public. Scenario projects become more accessible when visually presented by maps, thereby fostering greater understanding of the spatial features and differences. This, in turn, leads to more inclusive and well-informed discussions about possible futures and spatial choices. In 2023, PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency published a research study including four scenario maps showing what the Netherlands could look like in 2050. This article describes how the scenarios and associated maps were developed and reflects on the multiple functions the maps had in different phases of the scenario study
Mapping Walking Interviews in a Gentrifying Port City Neighborhood through Space-Time Paths
Contemporary redevelopment and gentrification of urban waterfront areas has stimulated research on local residents’ recollections regarding changes in their direct living environment. The peninsula of Katendrecht in Rotterdam, the Netherlands’ main port city, constitutes a peculiar case in this respect, as its legacy of notorious maritime pleasure quarter has been overtaken by the neighborhood’s recent urban renewal and waterfront regeneration processes. This article investigates how residents who have witnessed Katendrecht’s decline as pleasure district experience walking through the redeveloped neighborhood nowadays. This case study demonstrates the potential for interdisciplinary synergy between different scholarly fields, through a specific mapping approach that links together the methodologies of walking interviews and time geography. By focusing on spatio-temporal ‘standstills’ in mapping the walking interviews’ non-predetermined routes, overarching interview patterns are uncovered and participants’ matching observations are identified, revealing a range of responses to a waterfront area’s characteristics caught up in processes of gentrification
Archeologia del contemporaneo: un’esperienza didattica con i rifiuti
The essay presents a teaching experience carried out in a fifth grade of primary school and in a second grade of lower secondary school related to the archaeology of the contemporary, in particular the archaeology of waste. The experience originated from a collective action of cleaning a public garden in Bologna. The collected waste objects were sanitized by the teachers and then classified and interpreted by the children of a fifth grade of primary school as finds from a recent past. Subsequently, a second-grade class of lower secondary school took into consideration the corpus of artifacts and interpretations, analyzing it again starting from their different and more mature skills. The students' elaborations were an opportunity to produce a series of reflections on laboratory teaching on historical sources.
The contribution proposes a reflection on the concept of migratory transition and analyzes, starting from this, the migration experience of unaccompained foreign minors (UFM). After a normative and social framework of the phenomenon and the orientation towards the perspective of the protection of minors, the theme of educational and social accompaniment is explored with reference to the phases of migratory transition and the practices for an inclusion path aimed at autonomy and cultural integration are analyzed.

This paper outlines the preliminary phases, methodological criteria, and investigations carried out to define an updated census of incunabula preserved in the cultural institutions of Emilia-Romagna. It describes the development of a structured database for the systematic collection of data, aimed at establishing a scientifically grounded census of 15th-century editions present in the region, in coordination with national and international tools such as IGI, ISTC, and MEI.Il contributo presenta le fasi preliminari, i criteri metodologici e le indagini condotte per la definizione di un censimento aggiornato degli incunaboli conservati negli istituti culturali dell'Emilia-Romagna.
