Implementation of e-commerce in improving the competitiveness of vocational secondary education student entrepreneurship products
This study aimed to identify problems, describe, analyze, and evaluate the use of e-commerce to increase the competitiveness of innovative and entrepreneurial products produced by students of State Vocational High School 3 South Tangerang, Banten province. This research had three main stages, namely the preparation stage, the implementation stage, and the evaluation stage. The research location was the State Vocational High School 3 South Tangerang, Banten province, Indonesia, due to the school being outstanding in the field of Motorcycle and Animation expertise. The resource persons and respondents in this study were teaching teachers and students in classes 10-12 majoring in culinary, automotive, and animation. Implementing e-commerce activities at the production unit of State Vocational High School 3 South Tangerang, has increased the image of the production unit of State Vocational High School 3 South Tangerang. This study was a descriptive qualitative with the questionnaire, interview, and practice method. This study revealed that the application of e-commerce using the Shopee seller marketplace provided significant benefits and impacts for the production unit of State Vocational High School 3 South Tangerang. When the production unit implemented e-commerce, sales turnover increases rapidly, and the number of consumers, as a means of promotion, ease of transaction did not need to meet directly with buyers and can expand the business. However, there were also several obstacles, like weak human resources, intense competition, and the emergence of plagiarism of ideas and products
Students’ teacher-dependency and passiveness in online learning during COVID-19 pandemic
Online learning during COVID-19 pandemic has made teacher and students even parents busy in adapting the change. Many issues rose regarding the implementation of online learning. One of the issues is the student's teacher dependency in learning. Along with this problem, students tend to be passive in online learning. This research was conducted in a higer education context. Quantitative survey research was conducted to 656 sophomore students and 10 teachers in a college of aerospace technology in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Along with the questionnaire, an interview was held to gain the qualitative data to support the quantitive data. As the result, students tend to rely on their teachers and passive in learning.
Alertness, self-efficacy, and intention: Mediating effects encouraging students entrepreneurship behavior
This study examined the interaction of alertness, self-efficacy, and intention in entrepreneurial behavior. This research departed from the efforts of educational institutions to produce graduates with entrepreneurial profiles. Data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 530 respondents who had taken sharia entrepreneurship classes at a university in Indonesia. The results showed that education positively affected students' alerts and self-efficacy. Alertness and subsequent self-efficacy also positively impact entrepreneurial intention and behavior. Next, the entrepreneurial intention has a positive effect on entrepreneurial behavior. Contradictory findings show entrepreneurship education does not significantly impact entrepreneurial intention, self-efficacy, and behavior. The indirect effect found that the mediating role of alertness, self-efficacy, and purpose could fully bridge the relationship between education and entrepreneurial behavior. The results implied the importance of alertness, self-efficacy, and intention to promote entrepreneurial behavior in educational institutions. The study results highlighted an important message for universities and schools to put more effort into students' self-efficacy, vigilance, and personal intention to maximize learning activities on campus. The action can support the efforts of educational institutions through the entrepreneurship curriculum to increase the profile of alums as entrepreneurs
The motivation and teaching strategies in pre-service physical education teachers
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemics significantly affect teaching and learning. Especially physical education teaching that emphasizes practice in the field or large space. On the other hand, physical education classes must do online teaching, which leads to students not being interested in learning. This reason affects the teacher's motivation, making most teachers bored to teach without motivation. Specifically, in the pre-service physical educators who have low experience in teaching and leads to unenjoyed in their class. Consequently, pre-service physical educators need to find new strategies to teach students to be of greater interest. Thus, this study examined the relationship between teachers' motivation (intrinsic and external motivation) towards teaching strategies among pre-service physical educators. The instruments were regarding teachers' motivation in terms of intrinsic and external motivation and teaching strategies. The respondents were 157 pre-service physical educators in five universities in the border provinces of Southern Thailand. The result showed that there is a relationship between intrinsic and external motivation towards teaching strategies among the participants. These results provide guidelines for pre-service physical educators to improve their teaching and enhance students' achievement in the future through online physical education classes
Lecturers and students’ perceptions about online learning problems during the COVID-19 pandemic
This research is based on the problem of the outbreak of the coronavirus which has become a global pandemic and a national disaster. The purpose of this study was to describe the perceptions of lecturers and students on online learning problems during the COVID-19 pandemic. The data was collected with the help of questionnaires. This quantitative descriptive study was conducted among lectures and students who selectedd randomly. Data analysis used a Likert scale and the results of perceptions used descriptive analysis. The results of the study show that the perceptions of lecturers and students on online learning problems during the pandemic consisted of six aspects (lecture plans, online lecture activities, online lecture recording and evaluation, lecture assistance services, and lecture support facilities). Furthermore, it can be agreed that effective online learning occurs due to the interaction of students and lecturers as well as technology connected to education
Time management and procrastination during the COVID-19 pandemic in higher education
Online learning is enforced by all higher education in Indonesia due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There is an inability of students to manage time and often delay the work given by the lecturer. This study aimed to reveal the degree of relationship between student time management and academic procrastination in higher education. This research was conducted at the Psychology Faculty of the University Puta Indonesia YPTK Padang, Indonesia. The sample of this research was psychology students as many as 202 respondents. The research instrument was in the form of a questionnaire distributed via Google Form. The results showed that the level of correlation between time management and academic procrastination of psychology students was 0.242 with data processing using SPSS 26. Which means that there is a relationship between students' ability to manage time and delay in completing assignments by students of the faculty of psychology. The role of lecturers in providing direction and motivation to students is very much needed
Parents' perceptions of distance learning during COVID-19 in rural Indonesia
This study was developed to investigate parents' perceptions and attitudes towards distance learning in response to many schools' closures due to the COVID-19. This research employed a qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of parents of elementary school students in the City of Gunungsitoli, Indonesia determined by purposive sampling technique, totaling twenty-four people. The data were collected using semi-structured interview techniques and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. This study shows that distance learning or learning from home in a research context takes the form of online and offline learning. The learning approach implemented during the COVID-19 emergency must be lived and supported without other options for parents. Although parents do not have negative perceptions, distance learning has increased the economic, psychological, and social burden on parents or families. The lack of parental involvement and support in children's learning process at home is generally due to the lack of time and parents' inability to become teachers for their children. Actions to accompany and support children's learning process at home are carried out to provide internet packages, help children master the material, and participate in completing assignments or tests given by the teacher. The surprising finding from this study is the decline in children's learning motivation and cognitive abilities. Parents hope that distance learning is not extended.
Islamic higher education students’ expenditure before and during pandemic in Indonesia
Students are experiencing difficulty with online learning because it requires infrastructure, such as internet access that needs to be purchased. This study examined whether online lectures increase or decrease family/student expenses on education using a qualitative approach. Data on education expenditures were collected by interviewing 736 students at State Islamic University (UIN) Antasari, Indonesia before the COVID-19 pandemic and 761 students during the occurrence. Also, interviews were used to collect data on opportunity costs during the pandemic. The results showed that the student/family average expenditure on education at State Islamic University in Indonesia (PTKIN) before the occurrence was IDR 20,420,708 per year. Meanwhile, during the pandemic, their expenses decreased to an average of IDR 15,788,989 per year, indicating a decline of IDR 4,631,719 or 22.68%
Knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers in training critical thinking of elementary school students
Knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers in developing critical thinking skills are very much needed to train students' basic thinking skills. This descriptive quantitative study described the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers in developing critical thinking skills in elementary school students. The data collection employed a questionnaire with a Likert scale. The questionnaire was distributed online using Google Form during teacher professional development training. Respondents in this study were 366 elementary school teachers spread across 23 provinces in Indonesia. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. The results of this study indicated the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of teachers in developing critical thinking in elementary school students are a good category. Description knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a good teacher impact the designed learning process. However, this study only described teachers' knowledge, skills, and attitudes in developing critical thinking skills, which the basis for implementing learning in elementary schools. The application of critical thinking learning by elementary school teachers can be used for further research
Freedom to learn–independent campus policy: Do we really find our freedom?
What the job market demanded in the last few decades is overwhelming. Universities are working hard to meet the quality required by the job markets and it took a lot of effort, physically and mentally. Recently, the Minister of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia releases a policy that opens up the door to unlimited resources of learning. Students will be facilitated to choose their learning sources from outside the classroom, with real professionals. It is hoped that the quality of education in Indonesia will be enhanced and universities can produce graduates who have competencies that are relevant to the needs of industry, business, and the world of work. This research mainly reviews the Freedom to Learn–Independent Campus (FLIC) policy as an opportunity to conduct independent learning. Independent to choose the more contextual source of learning. Our study context is the implementation of the FLIC program specifically at the School of Business. The researchers conducted interviews with stakeholders related to the implementation of this policy (students, faculty members, co-educators). As a result, FLIC is perceived to have a positive impact on improving student abilities. However, there are still some obstacles that can be used as a basis for policy improvement
