    KAJIAN PENGGUNAAN ASAM PERASETAT UNTUK PEMUTIHAN TERHADAP SIFAT KIMIA PULP BAGASSE HASIL ORGANOSOLV

    ABSTRACTBaggase represent waste of lignocellulose yielded by sugar mill after sugar cane taken its. Especial component of bagasse for example fiber about 43-52%, lignine content of 20% and pentosan content of 27%. pulp had been made from bagasse fiber. This research conducted to know the bleaching methode using various concentration peracetic acid viewed from their chemical properties. The bleaching process was carried out using peracetic acid 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15% at 850C for 3 hours. After works, the pulp was washed and dried at room temperature, analyzed for cellulose, hemicellulose and number of kappa. The result showed that higher peracetic acid concentration descreased in cellulose, hemicelluse, lignin, permangant number and kappa number. The best result was obtained at the concentration of 3% with content of cellulose, hemicellulose, and permanganat numer and kappa number of 70,16%, 16,85%, and 30,05 5 respectively.Keywords: bagasse, peracetic acid,cCellulos

    EFEKTIVITAS APLIKASI BEBERAPA HERBISIDA SISTEMIK TERHADAP GULMA PADA PERKEBUNAN KELAPA SAWIT RAKYAT

    ABSTRACTThe objective of the study were to find the dominant weeds in palm oil plantation before application of weeds control using effective active compound of systematical herbicide. Research done in Glorious Countryside Petaling, public plantation, River Gelam, Muaro Jambi, Jambi Province in January--Februari 2008. The research used active compound of herbicide gliphosate amineisoprophyll, 2,4 D-dimethyllamine, gliphosate isoprophyllamine + 2,4 D dimethyllamine, and triasulphuron 75%. The study was conducted using Randomized Completely Design, with 5 replicates. Data were analyzed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Data analysis of weeds vegetationusing SDR values. Result found 5 dominants weed species before herbicide application were Imperata cylindrica (with SDR value 27,8%), followed with Asystasia intrusa ( SDR = 9,4%), Affinae melastoma ( SDR = 9,2%), Repens panicum ( SDR = 8,2%), and Borreria alata ( SDR = 7,7)). Glyphosate isoprophyllamine of herbicide active compound which suitable to control grass weed species; while 2,4 D dimethyllamine active compound more suitable to control the wide leaf weed. Imperata cylindrica controlled with herbicide using gliphosate isoprophyllamine active compounds. Asystasia intrusa and Affinae melastoma controlled with 2,4 D dimethyllamines active coumpound. Weed competition reduce of crop production.Key words: active compound, herbicide, weed, palm oi

    PERTUMBUHAN Nephentes mirabilis PADA MEDIA DENGAN PENAMBAHAN ARANG AKTIF DAN PENGGUNAAN SUMBER EKSPLAN BERBEDA

    ABSTRACT Indonesia has a rich biological diversity due to its varied climatic, altitudinal variations and ecological habitats. There are two methods of conservation: in situ and ex situ onservation, both are complementary to each other. In situ methods allow conservation to occur with ongoing naturalevolutionary processes, ex situ conservation via in vitro propagation also acts as a viable alternative for increase and conservation of populations of existing bioresources in the wild and to meet the commercial requirements.  The research was aimed to determine the source of explants and consentration of activated carcoal. This research has been conducted in 4 months has been carried out during March to July 2008 in the Laboratory of Indonesia Centre for Biodiversity and Biotechnology, Nagrak Cilubang-Bogor. This research using completely randomized design arranged as a factorial with two factors, and 5 replicates. The first factor is sources of explants with two levels different (up and down of shoot). The second factor is the consentration of activated carcoal with 5 levels, namely: 0,1,2,3 g.l-1.  The results showed that up of shoot show the best growth performance; while the best medium to increase explant regeneration with 2 g.l-1 activated carcoal.Keywords: in vitro propagation, Nephentes mirabilis, activated charcoal, source of explants

    ABSTRACT              The research was aimed to know genetic potential of growth and production of four new superior varieties of rice plants grown in the village Kadu Bale in Banjar sub-district  pandeglang Regency of Banten Province. Research was conducted in the village Kadu Bale Banjar District Pandeglang in May until September 2010. The research used a randomized block design with new  superior varieties as factor, which consisted of 4 levels with six replications.  Parameters were observed: 1) The number of tillers (stems), 2) plant height (cm), 3) Age of  panicle  appear  (HSS), 4) Age of harvest (days), 5) production per ha, and 6) The percentage of empty grains per clump (%). 7) The percentage of attacks Bacterial Leaf Light. The result showed that each variety (Ciherang, Inpari 1, Inpari 7, and Inpari 8 ) had potential interaction to abiotic and biotic environment during the period of its life (one season). Inpari 8 showed  the best potential interactions of abiotic and biotic environment during the period of its life (one season).Keywords: rice, production potential, new superior varietie

    APPLICATIONS OF ORGANIC FERTILIZER AND SEED TREATMENT OF CABBAGE IN LOWLAND AREAS JAMBI PROVINCE

    ABSTRACTPermintaan terhadap sayuran organik telah meningkat pesat sejalan dengan pekembangan informasi dan pengetahuan tentang perlunya mengkonsumsi makanan sehat. Teknologi pertanian organik baru saja diadopsi petani sayur di kota Jambi. Karena itu, petani sayur memerlukan bimbingan melalui percontohan dan penyampaian informasi teknologi. Riset aksi tentang sistem pertanian organik tanaman selada dilakukan di kota Jambi dari September hingga Februari 2007. Beberapa paket teknologi telah diterapkan dan diuji yaitu: perlakuan benih (tanpa dan dengan Nutrifam SD), pupuk organik (Bio-super active, Jus Bumi, Nutrifarm AG, Botani and Bokasi+manure+botani). Percobaan ditata dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan perlakuan faktorial dan pengaruhnya dianalisis dengan uji beda nyata Duncan (DNMR). Parameter pengamatan meliputi jumlah daun, luas daun, lebar tanaman, tinggi tanaman, biomassa tamanan, dan tingkat serangan hama dan penyakit. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa perlakuan benih tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman. Pupuk organik bitani memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap bobot tanaman (1,45 kg), tinggi tanaman (15,73 cm), luas daun (57,94 cm2) dan tingkat serangan hama/penyakit (8,67%.     ABSTRACTPalm juice as a raw material of brown sugar can be fermented easly. Smoke is used traditionally as an alternative indirect way to preserve the palm juice. Preservation of palm juice using liquid smoke directly have never been conducted before. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of liquid smoke on palm juice preservation. First step, the liquid smoke was redestilated. Then, 0,50%, 1,00%, 1,50%, 2,00%, and 3,00%(v/v) concentration of liquid smoke was applied on palm juice when tapping and storage. It showed that the liquid smoke with concentration under 0,5% (v/v) cannot preserve the palm juice during 12 hours storage. 1% until 3% liquid smoke can preserve the palm juice during 12 hours storage. In fact, the pH of palm juice with liquid smoke increased when it was tapped, but the pH of palm juice without liquid smoke decreased certainly. The concentration of liquid smoke 1% and 3% could preserve the pH of palm juice above 6.     ABSTRACTSolid and liquid waste are important environmental problems that if not managed well, it great potential to reduce the quality of the environment and health. Efforts to overcome the solid and liquid waste requires an approach. The objective of this research is to know the handling of environmental issues, especially solid and liquid waste handlers in Banten Province and provides an alternative waste management in overcoming it. Research done by taking a secondary data from various institutions related to research such as this BAPEDAL Province Banten, the BPS Banten Province and library literature. Handling environmental issues in Banten Province is stressed to technology and financial approach rather than through a social approach, partnership, cultural, political, legal and institutional arrangements. In connection with this effort will need, a new approach and change the paradigm in the management of solid and liquid waste. For example, the management of solid waste is concentrated to handle waste only and it should be changed to penyadaran process community and in the case of waste management.Key words: Solid Waste, Liquid Wast

    EVALUASI KETAHANAN 14 GENOTIPE CABAI TERHADAP INFEKSI CHIVMV (CHILLI VEINAL MOTTLE VIRUS)

    ABSTRACTOne of the major problem in chillipepper production was virus infection, with Chilli Veinal Mottle Virus (ChiVMV) as one of the most important viruses in Asia. Strategy to manage virus infection is not easy. The use of resistant varieties was considered as the best strategy to control viral disease. The research was undergone to find resistant genotypes of chillipepper that can be used as sources of ChiVMV resistance genes. This evaluation involve 14 genotypes from the collection of Genetic and Plant Breeding laboratory, Department of Agronomy and Horticultura. ChiVMV isolat Cikabayan was used for the source of inoculum. Based on the response from twice evaluation, it was known that PBC495, ICPN12#4, CCA321 and VC211a-3-1-1-1 genotypes were consistence in the response of resistance to ChiVMV infection. PBC495, VC211a-3-1-1-1 and CCA321 were identified as resistant genotypes and ICPN12#4 was identified as susceptible genotype.Key words: chillipepper, resistance, chilli veinal mottle viru

    PENGENDALIAN PENYAKIT LAYU FUSARIUM PISANG (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.cubense) DENGAN SOLARISASI TANAH DAN BAKTERI ANTAGONIS

    ABSTRACTThe objective of the research is to investigate the effectiveness of soil solarization and antagonist bacteria in controlling fusarial wilt of banana.The experiment was conducted in farmer field by randomized complete block of two factors.  The treatment in the field, factor A is solarization (without solarization, three weeks of solarization, and four weeks of solarization); factor B is antagonist bacteria (without bacteria, bacteria 1, and bacteria 2). The treatment is replicated three times.  The number of banana’s plant for each treatments are 4-6 plants.     ABSTRACTBrown sugar has a specificity than others. It is not only as a sweetener, but also have a low glicemic index and specific flavor. That are the reason why does the brown sugar become a prospective commodity in the global market. Palm juice is th raw material of brown sugar which is easy to fermentation when it is tapped. An alternative way to preserved the palm juice was using liquid smoke. The aim of this research was identifying the effect of additional liquid smoke with  redistilation and without redistilation on the colour’s changing of brown sugar. It used Chromameter CR300 to measured colour intencity with La and b system. The result showed that additional liquid smoke with or without redistillation  made  the colour’s changing. The colour of  brown sugar with additional redistillation liquid smoke lighter than brown sugar with additional liquid smoke without redistillation.Key words : Brown Sugar, liquid smoke, redistillation, colour
