Potential UV-Protective Effect of Freestanding Biodegradable Nanosheet-Based Sunscreen Preparations in XPA-Deficient Mice
Get PDFXeroderma pigmentosum (XP) is a rare autosomal recessive hereditary disorder. As patients with XP are deficient in nucleotide excision repair, they show severe photosensitivity symptoms.Although skin protection from ultraviolet (UV) radiation is essential to improve the life expectancy of such patients, the optimal protective effect is not achieved even with sunscreen application, owing to the low usability of the preparations. Nanosheets are two-dimensional nanostructures with a thickness in the nanometer range. The extremely large aspect ratios of the nanosheets result in high transparency, flexibility, and adhesiveness. Moreover, their high moisture permeability enables their application to any area of the skin for a long time. We fabricated preparations containing avobenzone (BMDBM) based on freestanding poly (L-lactic acid) (PLLA) nanosheets through a spin-coating process. Although monolayered PLLA nanosheets did not contain enough BMDBM to protect against UV radiation, the layered nanosheets, consisting of five discrete BMDBM nanosheets, showed high UV absorbance without lowering the adhesive strength against skin. Inflammatory reactions in XPAdeficient mice after UV radiation were completely suppressed by the application of BMDBM-layered nanosheets to the skin. Effects of distributing sports column teaching materials for liberal arts education in university physical education
Get PDF大学の教養教育では，スポーツの実践だけでなく，さまざまな視点からスポーツを学ぶことも重要な役割を果たすと考えられている．しかし，様々な視点からスポーツを学ぶための教授法や教材についての報告は少ない．本研究では，様々な視点からバドミントンを捉えたコラム形式の教材を作成し，教養体育授業におけるバドミントン選択クラスの受講生217名に配布した．授業でコラム教材を用いた後，受講生に質問紙調査を実施し，コラム教材が学生の学習に与える影響や効果を検討した．得られた結果は下記の通りである．（1） 66.3％の受講生が，バドミントンの実践への効果について，「授業での実際のプレー（技能向上etc.）に活きた」と回答していた．（2） 受講生の約90％が，バドミントンの知識の学修および興味・関心への影響について，「貢献した」あるいは「どちらかと言えば貢献した」と回答していた．（3） 受講生の57.0％が，受講生同士での交流について，「貢献した」あるいは「どちらかと言えば貢献した」と回答していた．（4） 配布したコラム教材の中で面白かったテーマについて，「歴史」と回答した受講生が35.4％と最も多く，次いで「動作分析」が33.3％，「概要」が32.8％であった．また，バドミントン経験ありの学生や理系の学生においては，「漫画や小説」や「映画やアニメ」が上位に入っていた．（5） 自由記述回答では，「バドミントンの知識の獲得」および「バドミントンへの興味・関心の喚起」についての記述が多くみられた．これらの結果から，コラム教材は学生のバドミントンの実践だけでなく，知識の学修や興味・関心を向上させたものと考えられた．本研究で得られた知見から，コラム教材を教養体育の授業に取り入れることで，実技科目であっても，様々な観点からスポーツを捉えることができ，学生のスポーツに対する理解や教養を深めることに貢献できることが示唆された．It is thought that not only playing sports but also learning about sports from various perspectives plays an important role in a university liberal arts education. However, there are few reports about teaching methods and materials for learning about sports from various perspectives. In this study, we created teaching materials in the form of a sports column that presented badminton from various viewpoints and distributed the column to 217 liberal arts students enrolled in a badminton class. After using the materials in class, the students answered a questionnaire, the results of which allowed us to evaluate the effects of the column on the students’ learning. The results are as follows: (1) 66.3% of the students answered that “The column was useful for playing badminton (skill improvement, etc.) in class”; (2) about 90% of the students answered that learning about badminton “increased” or “somewhat increased” their interest in badminton; (3) 57.0% answered that the column “facilitated” or “somewhat facilitated” interaction among the students; (4) 35.4% answered that “the history of badminton” was the most interesting theme in the column, followed by “studying badminton through motion analysis” (33.3%) and “the overview of badminton” (32.8%), whereas “manga and novels” and “movies and anime” about badminton ranked highly among students with badminton experience as well as science students; and (5) in the free-form answers, many students wrote that “their knowledge about badminton” and “interest in badminton” increased after reading the column. From these results, it was considered that the sports column teaching materials increased the students’ knowledge of and interest in badminton as well as their badminton skills. Our findings suggest that by incorporating these teaching materials into physical education classes at liberal arts universities, even in practical subjects, it is possible to grasp sports from various perspectives, thereby increasing students’ appreciation of sports
