Early Medieval Stone Carvings From the Lower Rhone Region of France : A Study of Rosette Motifs
It can be difficult to date or verify the origin of early medieval Western Europe stone carvings, especially if they were originally crafted in local workshops. This report compares the results of an investigation of stone carvings excavated in 2016 from the archeological site of Rue Guynemer, Nimes, to examples found in the lower Rhone region. The author analyses how the decorative motif, or rosette, became more common in the repertoire of early medieval sculptors, especially those operating regional workshops, through detailed comparative research of several regions across different epochs.論文 / Article

Issues of Japan’s Policy to Prevent the Loneliness and Isolation of the Elderly and China’s Suggestions
In recent years, the coronavirus epidemic has drawn attention to the problem of human loneliness and isolation around the world. Especially in Japan, which has the highest aging rate in the world, there is a risk that the problems of loneliness and isolation among the elderly will become more serious due to changes in the family structure and the increase in the number of elderly living alone. Against this background, the government has implemented policies such as promoting the construction of a comprehensive community care system and establishing an office to deal with loneliness and isolation, but these efforts have not produced sufficient results. In this paper, we first grasp the background and actual situation of loneliness and isolation among the elderly in Japan. After that, we will organize various efforts and their effects on the loneliness and isolation problem of the elderly, and examine each policy issues. Finally, based on these policy issues in Japan, We consider China’s policies for health promotion and elderly care, using examples of “Health China 2030”, “9073 Model”, and “Smart Elderly Care”, and discuss what Japan can learn from China’s policies.論
Verification of nanoparticle formation, skin permeation, and apoptosis using as a methoxyflavonoid derivative
Purpose: Nobiletin (NOB), a polymethoxyflavonoid, is known for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects and has antitumor activity. However, its poor solubility and low bioavailability pose a significant challenge in its delivery. In this experiment, NOB was added to Soluplus® (Sol)/l-ascorbyl 2,6-dipalmitate (ASC-DP) as a ternary system, and Sol/ASC-DP/NOB nanoparticles were obtained using the hydration method. The purpose of this study was to enhance the solubility of NOB, apply it for skin permeation, and improve antitumor activity. Methods: The preparation of Sol/ASC-DP/NOB nanoparticles was attempted using the hydration method, and particle size, zeta potential, and stability tests were performed to evaluate the formation of nanoparticles. 1H-1H NOESY/ROESY NMR spectral measurements were also performed to identify molecular interaction between NOB and Sol/ASC-DP. To evaluate its functionality, DPPH radical scavenging, skin permeation, fluorescence microscopy, and cell viability analyses were performed. Results: The particles were approximately 100 nm in size in the ternary system (weight ratio (Sol/ASCDP/NOB=8/1/1)) and were relatively stable for approximately 7 days at 25 °C under light-shielded conditions. From the NMR spectrum measurements of Sol/ASCDP/NOB, a cross-peak was observed between the –OCH3 group: C6,8 (3.8 ppm) derived from NOB, the methyl group (2.0 ppm) derived from Sol, and the side chain portion (1.2 ppm) derived from ASC-DP. Cross-peaks were observed between the polyethylene glycol (PEG) backbone of Sol (3.6 ppm) and the side chain of ASC-DP (0.8–1.2 ppm). The formation of Sol/ASC-DP/NOB nanoparticles facilitated its skin permeation, and fluorescence microscopy confirmed improved permeation. The DPPH radical scavenging test revealed that Sol/ASC-DP/NOB had an IC50 of 46.7 μg/mL. Cell viability assays showed a 20–40% decrease in cell viability with the addition of Sol/ASC-DP/NOB at 0.1 mg/mL. Conclusion: Sol/ASC-DP/NOB nanoparticles were successfully prepared, and these were found to inhibit melanin formation and have antitumor activity.p.18 Article number: 17 Open Access This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which permits use, sharing, adaptation, distribution and reproduction in any medium or format, as long as you give appropriate credit to the original author(s) and the source, provide a link to the Creative Commons licence, and indicate if changes were made. Study of Polymer Nanofilms Using for High-Throughput Screening in the Development of Transdermal Therapeutic System
We investigated polymer nanofilm (PNF) for use in high-throughput screening (HTS) to promote the development of transdermal therapeutic systems (TTS). The drug permeability of PNF with a 1 : 1 weight mix ratio of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) and poly(methylhydrosiloxane) (PMHS) (PLLA/PMHS (1/1) PNF) and Strat-M® of the transdermal diffusion test membrane, was evaluated using 12 kinds of drugs with the logarithmic value of n-octanol/water partition coefficients of −4.70 to 3.86. The lag time of PLLA/PMHS (1/1) PNF made via polymer alloying was significantly shorter than that of Strat-M® for 10 drug types, and the formation of a highly diffusible PMHS-rich phase accompanying the formation of a sea–island structure was suggested as a contributing factor. Additionally, a high correlation was confirmed between the measured value for the logarithm of the apparent permeability coefficient of PLLA/PMHS (1/1) PNF and the literature values for the logarithm of the apparent permeability coefficient of human skin (r = 0.929). This study shows that PLLA/PMHS (1/1) PNF can reliably predict drug permeability in human skin and can potentially be used in HTS for developing TTS
Beneficial Effects of Dietary Nitrite on a Model of Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis Induced by High-Fat/High-Cholesterol Diets in SHRSP5/Dmcr Rats: A Preliminary Study
Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a chronic liver disease that leads to liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Endothelial dysfunction caused by hepatic lipotoxicity is an underlying NASH pathology observed in the liver and the cardiovascular system. Here, we evaluated the effect of dietary nitrite on a rat NASH model. Stroke-prone, spontaneously hypertensive 5/Dmcr rats were fed a high-fat/high-cholesterol diet to develop the NASH model, with nitrite or captopril (100 mg/L, each) supplementation in drinking water for 8 weeks. The effects of nitrite and captopril were evaluated using immunohistochemical analyses of the liver and heart tissues. Dietary nitrite suppressed liver fibrosis in the rats by reducing oxidative stress, as measured using the protein levels of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate oxidase components and inflammatory cell accumulation in the liver. Nitrite lowered the blood pressure in hypertensive NASH rats and suppressed left ventricular chamber enlargement. Similar therapeutic effects were observed in a captopril-treated rat NASH model, suggesting the possibility of a common signaling pathway through which nitrite and captopril improve NASH pathology. In conclusion, dietary nitrite attenuates the development of NASH with cardiovascular involvement in rats and provides an alternative NASH therapeutic strategy.p.16 Article number: 2931 This article is an open access article distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)
