Relationship between positive support at enrollment and sense of college life adjustment ―A study of university students in the dietitian training program―
近年,我が国の大学生・専門学校生の中途退学率は2~3%で推移している。中途退学は,大学・学校には負の影響を与え,学生本人には時間と資金の浪費につながる。中途退学の理由は様々ではあるが,大学生活が充実することで中途退学を防げる可能性がある。本研究では,2024年度城西大学薬学部医療栄養学科に入学した学生62人を対象として,入学時の積極的サポート(フレッシュマンキャンプ,ピアサポート)と大学適応感(11項目)との関連について検討した。各サポートに参加したのは対象者のうち約半数であった。どちらのサポートも,参加した者は90%以上が満足したと回答した。ピアサポートにおける相談内容は履修に関することと勉強方法が多かった。大学適応感の結果は,大学適応を示すポジティブ項目の得点が大学不適応を示すネガティブ項目の得点よりも高い点数を示した。両サポートと大学適応感の各項目との関連では,ピアサポートへの参加と試験不安に関する項目との間に有意な関連が認められた。今後は両サポートともに,多くの新入生が参加できるような方法の策定が望まれる。特にピアサポートは,学業について継続的に相談できる環境の整備が必要である。In recent years, the dropout rate for college and vocational school students in Japan has remained at 2-3%. Dropout has a negative impact on universities and schools, and leads to a waste of time and money for the students themselves. Although the reasons for dropout vary, there is a possibility that a more fulfilling college life can prevent students from dropping out of school. In this study, we examined the relationship between positive support (freshman camp and peer support) at the time of enrollment and college life adjustment (11 items) among 62 students enrolled in the Department of Medical Nutrition in the Josai University College of Pharmacy in the 2024. About half of the subjects participated in each support. More than 90% of the participants were satisfied with both types of support. The most common topics of consultation in the peer support sessions were taking courses and studying method.
The results of the college life adjustment to the university showed that the scores for
positive items indicating adjustment to the university were higher than the scores for
negative items indicating maladjustment to the university. In terms of the relationship
between both supports and each item of the sense of university adjustment, there was a
significant relationship between participation in peer support and items related to exam
anxiety. In the future, it is desirable to formulate a method for both types of support so that
many new students can participate in both types of support. In particular, peer support
requires the development of an environment in which students can consult with each other
on an ongoing basis about their academic work.論文 / Article
Elution Behavior of Carbohydrates for Core-Shell Ion-Exchange Resin St-70 with Different Number of Methylene Group in the Porous Shell and a Constant Cross-Linking Degree of 55%
Understanding the relationship between the molecular structure ion-exchange resins and the elution of carbohydrates is important for high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). From a novel resin development perspective, we focused on the effect of the number of methylene groups in the functional chain of the porous polymer shell. Herien, core-shell ion-exchange resins with a monomer weight ratio of 30:70 (denoted as St-70) were synthesized with a constant cross-linking degree of 55%. The number of methylene groups in the functional chain of the porous polymer shell was varied from two to six. The effect of the number of methylene groups on the carbohydrate separation performance was examined under strong alkaline conditions. A mixture of inositol, glucose, fructose, and sucrose was separated using a 0.10 or 0.15 mol/L NaOH eluent at flow rates of 0.3–0.7 mL/min. The retention times were compared for St-70 variants with different numbers of methylene groups in the porous layer. Increasing the number of methylene groups tended to increase the retention times of each carbohydrate under all conditions. The theoretical plate numbers of carbohydrates decreased and then increased as the number of methylene groups increased from two to six. The results suggest that the St-70 core-shell ion-exchange resins are highly efficient for carbohydrate analysis. Isolation of Compounds Including Two New Compounds from Asiasarum Root and Their Anti-glycation Activity
Two new glycosides, named 3-methoxy-5-methylphenol-6-O-β-glucopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-glucopyranoside (compound 1) and 1-O-feruloyl-α-arabinofuranosyl-(1→6)-β-glucopyranoside (compound 2), were isolated from Asiasarum root, together with eight known compounds. Asiasarum root (crude drug name in Latin: ASIASARI RADIX) is well known for its anti-inflammation and antitussive properties and is commonly found in Kampo formula in Japan. The structures of new compounds 1 and 2 were characterized using one- and two-dimensional (1D and 2D) NMR spectroscopy and MS. In addition, the anti-glycation activity of the isolates was evaluated. Glycation is particularly advanced in patients with diabetes and is suspected to be associated with diabetic complications such as nephropathy, osteoporosis, and Alzheimer’s disease. The inhibition of this reaction is thought to be linked to the prevention and treatment of these diseases. Compounds 2 (79.4%), 4 (82.4%), 5 (79.8%), 6 (86.5%), 7 (90.1%), 9 (61.4%), and 10 (82.2%) showed activities comparable to that of aminoguanidine (45.3%) used as a positive control.This is an open access article distributed under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/). Screening for novel L-type amino acid transporter 1 (SLC7A5) inhibitors using a fluorescent amino acid
L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) facilitates the transport of neutral amino acids with bulky side chains, including many essential amino acids that activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin (mTOR), thereby promoting cell proliferation. Inhibition of LAT1 suppresses abnormal cell growth, such as in cancer and polycystic kidney disease. Fluorescent probes are essential tools for monitoring transport activity and screening for novel inhibitors. We discovered that the fluorescent amino acid (S)-2-Amino-3-(9-oxo-9,10-dihydroacridin-2-yl) propanoic acid hydrochloride (H-Ala (2-Acd)-OH・HCl) is specifically transported by LAT1 in Ca9-22 cells and is effective for drug screening. The transport of H-Ala (2-Acd)-OH・HCl was inhibited by the LAT1-specific inhibitor JPH203 and by excess leucine, a natural LAT1 substrate. In contrast, the structurally similar fluorescent amino acid (S)-2-Amino-3-(12-oxo-5,12-dihydrobenzo [b] acridin-2-yl) propanoic acid hydrochloride (H-Ala (2-Bacd)-OH・HCl) exhibited minimal cellular uptake. Using H-Ala (2-Acd)-OH・HCl and Ca9-22 cells, we screened over 10,000 compounds and identified several potent LAT1 inhibitors.Funding: This work was supported by JSPS KAKENHI Grant Number 15K06879 and 19K08687 to T.K
Governing under Cyber Uncertainty : Executive Decision-Making from the IT Boom to the AI Era (1990s–2020s)
Digitalisation has created a paradox in executive decision-making: the very technologies that enable faster, data-driven management have also increased uncertainty through escalating cyber risks across integrated supply chains and software ecosystems. In response, we contend that cyberresilient management has become a strategic imperative. Our framework prioritises cyber risk at the executive level, embeds identity-centred controls, strengthens third-party oversight, and cultivates an organisation-wide security culture. Coupled with clear performance measures (e.g., time to detect, contain, and recover), this integrated approach supports rapid innovation while preserving trust, rearchitects approvals for real-time action, institutionalises intelligence-led operations, and positions security and privacy as market differentiators. It offers practical guidance for reconciling growth with protection in an era where uncertainty is structural rather than episodic.論
Asymptotic properties of solutions to elastic equations in aperturbed half-space in R3
We give an overview of our recent results for anelastic wave equation in a locally perturbed halfspacein R3. We deriveasymptotic expansions at infinity of stationary solutions, formulate theradiation condition and prove the uniqueness of scattering solutionsincluding body waves as well as Rayleigh waves
