Get PDF城西大学の建学の精神「学問による人間形成」の今日的意味を考える手がかりを得るために，城西大学の創立母体であった城西学園の教育内容および，城西学園の前身として位置付けられる城西実務学校の教育内容との間の連続性について検討した。そこでは，「新教育」の精神が城西実務学校創立者の中島久万吉，成蹊実務学校の創立者であり城西実務学校学監であった中村春二，城西学園創設者の野口援太郎を結びつけていたこと，そしてそれは，城西実務学校から城西学園に受け継がれたことを明らかにした。For a later study on the founding spirit of Josai University named “Character Formation through Learning”, I examined the perspectives of education of Kumakichi Nakajima, Haruji Nakamura, and Entaro Noguchi, and also examined the educational content of Josai Practical School and Josai Gakuen. Josai Practical School was the founding body of Josai Gakuen, which in turn was the founding body of Josai University. Kumakichi Nakajima was the founder of Josai Practical School, while Haruji Nakamura was the founder of Seikei Practical School and the first academic affairs supervisor of Josai Practical School. My research clarified that the educational perspectives of these three persons were linked by the idea of “New Education: the Japanese Progressive Education Movement in the Taisho Era”.論文 / Article

Overcoming Foreign Language Anxiety (FLA) (part 2: Impromptu Approach with PREP Framework)
Get PDFThis study is a follow-up to previous research on Foreign Language Anxiety (FLA) in discovering practical and dffective ways to overcome student's anxiety levels towards the English language. The primary goal of this work is to empower students to explore a wide range of learning methods that can help boost their confidence in using English. The research was conducted in the autumn of 2023 and involved thirty-seven students in the university's mandatory essential English communication couorse. The study explores why the method was used and provides examples of its implementation. The communication activities in this study forcused on teaching students how to organise theie opinions or ideas logically and convey their thoughts more confidently in English through drills on answer patterns. At the end of the semester, feedback was collected from the students to evaluate their experience and thoughts after completing the course. 本研究は、FLA（Foreign Language Anxiety）に関する前回報告の続報であり、学生の英語に対する不安を軽減する効果的な方法を見つけることを目的としている。この取り組みが、様々な学習方法を模索する手助けとなることを目指す。調査は2023年後期に実施され、大学の必修科目である英語コミュニケーションコースの受講生37名を対象とした。Impromputu approachをどのように取り込み活用したか報告する。コミュニケーション演習は回答パターンのドリルを参考に、学生が自分の意見やアイデアを論理的に整理し話せるようにした。結果、自信を持って自らの考えを伝える事に効果的であった。 学期の終わりに、3問のアンケート（内２つは自由回答形式）でコース終了後の意見や考えの調査を実施し、効果を確認した
