Phenylephrine Enhances the Mitogenic Effect of S-Allyl-L-cysteine on Primary Cultured Hepatocytes through Protein Kinase C-Induced B-Raf Phosphorylation
The co-mitogenic effects of the α1-adrenoceptor agonist phenylephrine on S-allyl-L-cysteine (SAC)-induced hepatocyte proliferation were examined in primary cultures of adult rat hepatocytes. The combination of phenylephrine (10−10–10−6 M) and SAC (10−6 M) exhibited a significant dose-dependent increase in the number of hepatocyte nuclei and viable cells compared to SAC alone. This combination also increased the progression of hepatocyte nuclei into the S-phase. The potentiating effect of phenylephrine on SAC-induced cell proliferation was counteracted by prazosin (an α1-adrenergic receptor antagonist) and GF109203X (selective protein kinase C (PKC) inhibitor). In addition, PMA (direct PKC activator) potentiated the proliferative effects of SAC similarly to phenylephrine. In essence, these findings suggest that PKC activity plays a crucial role in enhancing SAC-induced cell proliferation. Moreover, the effects of phenylephrine on SAC-induced Ras activity, Raf phosphorylation, and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 2 (ERK2) phosphorylation were investigated. Phenylephrine (or PMA) in combination with SAC did not augment Ras activity, but further increased ERK2 phosphorylation and its upstream B-Raf phosphorylation. These results indicate that PKC activation, triggered by stimulating adrenergic α1 receptors, further amplifies SAC-induced cell proliferation through enhanced ERK2 phosphorylation via increased B-Raf-specific phosphorylation in primary cultured hepatocytes.This is an open access article distributed under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 License (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0/). Empirical Analysis of Individuals’ Selection of AI/Expert Discretionary Asset Management Services
近年,投資初心者や若者世代を中心として,AI が投資のアドバイスや運用を行ってくれるサービスが注目を浴びている。このサービスは「ロボアドバイザー」と呼ばれ,個人の投資に対する考え方や年齢,収入等に関する情報を専門家が考えたAI アルゴリズムを使って分析し,その内容を反映した投資プランを個人に代わって資産運用を行うものもある。ロボアドバイザーは従来,資産運用の専門家が行っていた作業をAI に任せるといったものになる。本研究では,2023 年9 月に実施したアンケート調査によって収集した個票データを用いた分析を通じて,一任型の資産運用サービスをAI もしくは資産運用の専門家に任せるかという選択問題に注目した分析を試みた。その結果,「株式等の保有(の有無)」「投資に対する考え方(投資リスク受容度)」「リスク回避度」「(AIに対する)ポジティブイメージ」「年齢」が専門家一任型よりもAI 一任型の運用サービスを利用したい傾向にプラスの影響を,一方で「(AI に対する)ネガティブイメージ」が負の影響を与えていることがわかった。また,「金融知識」や「AI に関する知識」の多寡が「資産運用サービスをAI に任せたい程度」に影響を与えないこと等を確認した。In recent years, services in which AI provides investment advice and investment management have been attracting attention, especially among investment novices and the younger generation. This kind of services are called “robo-advisors,” and some of them use AI algorithms designed by experts to analyze information on an individual’s investment stance, age, income, and so on, and create an investment plan that reflects this information to manage assets on the individual’s behalf. Robo-advisors are a type of investment advisor that uses AI to perform tasks traditionally performed by asset management experts. In this article, we analyze the issue of whether to entrust discretionary asset management services to AI or asset management experts through an analysis using individual data collected by a questionnaire survey conducted in September 2023. The results showed that “stock holding,” “degree of investment risk acceptance,” “risk aversion,” “positive image of AI,” and “age” had a positive impact on the tendency to use a discretionary AI service. On the other hand, “negative image of AI” had a negative impact. In addition, we confirmed that the level of “financial knowledge” and “knowledge of AI” had no effect on the “degree of willingness to entrust AI with asset management services.論文 / Treatise
Programs for supporting in pre-service teacher training students at Josai University Teacher-Training Course Center ~Aiming to develop the necessary qualities and abilities as a teacher~
教職課程センターでは,教職を目指す学生のために「教員養成塾」「教職勉強会」等の講座を設けている。また教員採用試験対策として,志願書添削,面接指導や小論文指導等を実施している。さらに,卒業後すぐに教職に就く予定の4年生を対象に「実践授業勉強会」を実施し,自信と意欲をもって教育活動に当たることができるように支援している。これらの取組を通して,教師としての心構えを養い,教師に必要な知識等を獲得させるとともに指導力や実践力を身に付けさせ,教育現場で活躍できる人材の育成を目指している。実践報告 / Report
Educational Opportunities in Local Communities : Undertaking Projects in a Slum School in Nairobi : Reflections on the 11 th Research Meeting of the Faculty of Contemporary Policy Studies, Josai University
本投稿は、2023 年2 月にケニアのナイロビにあるスラム街にある学校で開催された城西大学現代政策学部第11 回研究会で発表した講演の要約である。講演では、2016 年に著者が行った教育プロジェクトについて論じている。これは、スラムの子ども1000 人以上が通う学校にデジタル教科書を接続したコンピューターラボの設置が含まれている。また、貧困、暴力、疎外による多くの課題に直面するコロゴチョの子どもたちの教育の質とアクセス向上を目的としている。観察、インタビュー、調査に基づき、この講演では、プロジェクトの影響、メンテナンスやセキュリティなどの課題、カリキュラム統合や地域参加の必要性などの教訓についての発見を共有している。ケニアの教育状況とデジタル・ディバイドについての見解が提供され、著者が住む日本との比較がなされている。2 国間の類似点と相違点が強調され、協力と交流の機会も提示されている。This paper summarizes a talk presented at the 11th Research Meeting of the Faculty of Contemporary Policy Studies at Josai University, presented at Grapesyard School in the Korogocho slum of Nairobi, Kenya in Feburary 2023. It discusses an education initiative undertaken by the author in involving setting up a computer lab for the pupils with the aim to to improve educational poossibilities through ICT tools and accessibility for disadvantaged children. Drawing on observations, interviews, and surveys, the talk shares findings about the project's impact, challenges like maintenance and security, and lessons including the need for curriculum integration and community involvement. Perspectives are akso offered on Kenya’s education situation and the digital divide, with comparisons to Japan. Similarities and differences between the two countries were also highlighted, along with opportunities for future collaboration and exchange.研究報告 研究ノート / Research Not
City Planning Project around Kawakado Station - Landscape and regulation -
In the fall of 2023, the installation of a new ticket gate at Kawakado Station in Saitama marked a significant development not only for the station but also for the surrounding area. This paper ana lyzes the legal framework of this project, focusing on its alignment with the Japanese City Planning Act and the unique approach to development adopted by Moroyama City. Moroyama City’s approach prioritizes community engagement, allowing residents to actively par ticipate in planning and propose ideas. Landowners are encouraged to preserve the area’s natural beauty by continuing agricultural practices. Furthermore, collaboration between local universities, the railway company, and the City ensures that development respects property rights within urbani zation control areas and integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure.
