The Efficacy of a Mattress Type Sleep Measuring Device in Analyzing Sleep in Healthy University Students: Comparison with Actigraphy
Get PDFSleep disturbance relates to various disorders and is a significant public health issue. Evaluation of sleep quality is necessary to analyze and improve sleep quality. Polysomnography (PSG) is an efficient method for sleep analysis. However, complicated systems are required for the analysis. Also, PSG can be stressful for participants and is, therefore, not suitable for long term sleep monitoring. Sleepscan is a non-invasive mattress type sleep measuring device developed by TANITA. Sleepscan measures the participant’s heart rate, respiration, and body movement during sleep, and evaluates sleep quality objectively. We measured the sleep quality of healthy university students with Sleepscan and a widely-used sleep measuring device, actigraph. We also discussed the efficacy of using Sleepscan daily. Sleepscan detected longer sleep latency and shorter awake episodes during sleep than actigraph. Although these devices showed quite different results for some sleep variables, the sleep score recorded by Sleepscan and sleep efficiency by actigraph correlates well. Since sleep efficiency is used as a representative index for comprehensive sleep quality in actigraphy, the sleep score by Sleepscan can be an alternative index used to evaluate sleep quality objectively. Sleepscan can also analyze the depth of sleep. The deep sleep variables recorded by Sleepscan did not correlate with the sleep variables by actigraph, suggesting that these variables may represent aspects of sleep quality that cannot be detected by actigraphy. Sleepscan may be useful in analyzing sleep quality objectively more comprehensively over a long period
The trade relations between Japan and Visegrad Group countries in the light of Linderʼs Overlapping Demand Theory
Get PDFFactors that influence trade relations between countries have always been the center of scholars’ attention. Throughout the centuries many different theories have been introduced. One of them, which is widely used nowadays, is Staffan Burenstam Linder’s Overlapping Demand Theory. In accordance with this theory countries which have similar structure of preferences tend to keep closer trade relations with each other. The proxy for preferences is, as Linder has indicated, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. This study is aimed at analyzing whether Linder’s Overlapping Demand Theory provides accurate explanation for trade relations between Japan and Visegrad Group countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia). Is GDP per capita the main factor which influences the trade turnover? Or are trade relations completely unrelated to structure of preferences between analyzed countries? Get PDF韓国の財政は，経済成長の低迷，物価の上昇，失業者の増加，少子高齢化の進展などによる社会福祉分野に対する財政需要が増大している。地方財政でも例外ではない。特に，幼児，高齢層，貧困層を中心に社会福祉費に対する需要が高まっている中で，地方財政の歳出増加は社会経済の需要に対応した面はあるが，非効率的な予算執行もその一因であることは否めない。一方，国と地方の財政関係をみると，国税と地方税の割合（2018年度）は 77.5対 22.5であり，同じく財政支出をみると中央政府と地方政府（教育財政を含む）は 60.9対 39.1になっている。国に大きな財源と権限が集中しており，地方分権と地方自治は実現していない。このような状況では，地方財政の健全性は期待できない。そこで本論文は，韓国における地方財政の歳出に焦点を当て，歳出構造は如何なる特徴を有しているか。そして歳出の分類と機能はどのような状況であるのかを考察した。また，それは国の歳出構造にどのように関連し，どのような現況にあるのかを分析した。さらに，地方財政の歳出には如何なる課題があり，そのためどのような地方財政の改革が必要であるのかを明らかにした。その結果， 地方財政の歳出における健全化と効率性を実現するために地方分権と地方自治の実施が必要であると結論づけた
Chicken knee cartilage extract promotes proliferation of the mouse pre-chondrogenic cell line, ATDC5
Get PDF関節軟骨はコンドロイチン硫酸( CS)やヒアルロン酸(HA)などの細胞外基質(E CM)とECMを産生する軟骨細胞で構成されている．近年，精製したCSおよびHAが関節機能改善を目的に健康食品などとして利用されている． 一方，生体内で各ECM成分は相互作用していることが報告されているが， これらECM混合物の軟骨細胞に対する影曹についてはあまり報告されていない．そこで本研究では，軟骨EC Mとして鶏膝軟骨抽出物(Chicken knee cartilage extract : CKCE)を用いて，CKCEの添加が軟骨細胞の増殖に与える影響を検討した．CKCEまたは，CKCEをプロテアーゼもしくはコンドロイチナーゼ処理したものをマウス前駆軟骨細胞株(ATD C5)に添加し，細胞増殖をWST-1法を用いて評価した．比較対照としてサメ軟骨由来梢製CSおよび鶏冠由来精製HAを用いた．CK C E添加は無添加と比較して軟骨細胞増殖を約1.5倍に促進した．また，プロテアーゼもしくはコンドロイチナーゼ処理したCKCEの添加も軟骨細胞増殖を同程度促進した．一方，CS, HAおよびそれらの酵素処理物はATD C5の増殖を促進しなかった．以上のことから， CKCEには軟骨細胞増殖を促進する成分が含まれ，それはHAおよびCSとは異なる低分子性の物質である可能性が示された．Extracellular matrices (ECM) are abundant in articular cartilage and are composed of structural molecules such as chondroitin sulfate (CS), hyaluronic acid (I IA), and collagen (COL).In recent years, purified CS and HA have been sometimes used in health foods for improving joint fimction. Although these molecules interact with one another and fimction intravitally, research on the influence of ECM complex on chondrocytes is limited. In this paper, we invesligated the in vitro effect of adding chicken knee cartilage extract (CKCE) on the proliferation of chondrocytes.Mouse pre-chondrogenic cell line, ATDC5 was cultured with CKCE or CKCE treated with either protease or chondroitinase, and the cell proliferation was evaluated by the WST-1 assay.The CS purified from shark cartilage and HA purified from cockscomh chicken were used as the control groups.The chondrocyte proliferation was 1.5 times higher in the group with CKCE than in the group without CKCE. Additionally, protease- or chondroitinase-treated CKCE induced a similar increase in chondrocyte proliferation. Conversely, CS, HA, and their enzyme-treated products did not have any effect on ATDC5 proliferation.These results indicate that low-molecular weight components different from HA and CS, which are protease- or chondroitinase-rcsistant, promotes the chondrocyte proliferation
