Sonochemical reaction to control the near-infrared photoluminescence properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes
The effect of ultrasonic irradiation on the optical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) was investigated. Upon sonication in D2O in the presence of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBS) under air, red-shifted photoluminescence (PL) peaks at ∼1043 and ∼1118 nm were observed from the aqueous suspensions of (6,4) and (6,5)SWNTs, accompanied by a decrease in the intensity of the intrinsic PL peaks. Upon sonication with SDBS under an Ar atmosphere, the rate of spectral change increased with the sonication time and new PL peaks emerged at 1043, 1118, and 1221 nm. Meanwhile, upon the addition of 1-butanol, the PL peaks emerged only at 1043 nm and 1118 nm, while the emergence of the peak at 1221 nm was inhibited. On the other hand, a suspension with highly dispersed SWNTs was obtained upon sonication in the presence of sodium cholate without any change in the intrinsic optical properties of SWNTs. These experimental results reveal that the PL characteristics of SWNTs can be controlled by controlling the sonication conditions such as the type of surfactant used, the concentration of SWNTs, reaction environment, and the presence of an inhibitor such as 1-butanol
Visit to Daiju-ji Temple by Naito Jushin-in of Nobeoka Domain, Hyuga Province
This paper is about Naito Jushin-in’s visit to Daiju-ji Temple in Mikawa Province(present-day Okazaki-shi, Aichi-ken). This visit was on May 2, 1865 when Jushin-in was at age 66, in the course of her moving from Nobeoka to Edo. Daiju-ji Temple is where the successive Tokugawa shoguns’ memorial tablets are enshrined. And in its sub-temple named Shinkyo-in, those of Yoshikiyo Naito and his wife are enshrined. Okazaki is the place where the Naito family was based before becoming a daimyo. Furthermore, the Nakane family, who managed the Nishi honjin, were formerly samurai and relatives of the Naito family when they were in Okazaki. Although Jushin-in originally planned to stay at the Nakane family’s place; learning court nobles were on their way to Okazaki, she hesitated to stay at the Nishi honjin and stayed at Saiko-ji Temple instead. Saiko-ji Temple is the place related to the Naito family where Yoshikiyo Naito, the founder of the family, and his wife’s were buried. During Jushin-in’s stay at Saiko-ji Temple for a while, she visited Daiju-ji Temple. At Daiju-ji Temple, she paid reverence at the mausoleums of the first shogun, Ieyasu and the second, Hidetada Tokunaga, saw wall and sliding screen paintings by Tamechika Reizei in the ohojo(large abbot’s chamber), and paid reverence at Kannuki-shin which had some connection with Ieyasu Tokunaga. At Shinkyo-in, she prayed to the memorial tablets of Kiyoshige Naito and his wife. She made her visit to Daiju-ji Temple first and then to the grave of Kiyoshige Naito and his wife. Until Naito Jushin-in visited this place, nobody from the Naito clan, neither kenin nor family, had visited there for a long time. Jushin-in’s visit to Daiju-ji Temple and stay at Saiko-ji Temple renewed the intimate relationship between the Naito family and these temples.通巻第43
Mannosylerythritol Lipid B Enhances the Skin Permeability of the Water-Soluble Compound Calcein via OH Stretching Vibration Changes
We confirmed that mannosylerythritol lipid B (MEL-B), a biosurfactant, enhances the skin permeability of the model water-soluble compound calcein. MEL-B liposomes were prepared by the thin-layer evaporation technique, and then applied to the skin. Although we attempted to adjust the size by extrusion, we could not control the particle diameter of the liposomes. However, the MELB liposome particle diameter remained the same over the 7-day study period. We observed an endothermic peak, with 74.7 °C as the transition temperature by differential scanning calorimetry. We also performed a fusion experiment with a fluorescence resonance energy transfer. A high amount of fusion of intercellular lipid liposomes and MEL-B liposomes occurred in a short period of time. After applying the MEL-B liposomes containing calcein to the skin, we measured the degree of calcein permeation and the amount of calcein within the skin. The resulting values were higher than those of an aqueous solution. The results obtained using a confocal laser scanning microscope suggested that calcein had been delivered deeply into the skin. Using the attenuation of total reflectance Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry, we observed that the OH stretching vibration had shifted to a higher wavenumber; however, this did not affect the CH stretching vibration. The measurement of transepidermal water loss after four days of continuous application of 1% MEL-B to animals revealed no changes. Our results suggest that MEL-B increases the skin permeability of compounds (calcein) that are difficult to deliver transdermally by changing the OH stretching vibration, which shifts to a higher wavenumber.12p. Cooperation between Japan and Visegrad Group Countries on Subnational Level : The Case Study of Kantō Prefectures
When analyzing relations between countries, one should not forget to add additional dimension to this analysis - relations on subnational level. With advancement of globalization and regionalization processes this new dimension has been actively participating in shaping relations between countries. This study is focused on analyzing relations between Japanese prefectures from Kantō area and regions from Visegrad Group countries. Do Kantō prefectures cooperate with regions from East-Central Europe? If yes, what are the main areas of cooperation? If not, is there any possibility to form partnership in the future? This study is aimed at seeking the answers to above questions.通巻第43

We give an explicit formula for the Harish-Chandra c-function for a small K-type on a split real Lie group of type G₂. As an application we give an explicit formula for spherical inversion for this small K-type
