WORKING SHIFT DIFFERENCES AND THEIR EFFECTS ON EMPLOYEES’ JOB FATIGUE LEVELS: AN EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE FROM HOTEL INDUSTRY IN SURABAYA
Bisnis pada sektor jasa memiliki keunikan tersendiri dalam pengelolaan karyawannya. Pembagian jam kerja yang sesuai menentukan tingkat kualitas dari bisnis tersebut. Studi ini meneliti pengaruh perbedaan shift kerja terhadap tingkat kelelahan karyawan pada industri perhotelan di Surabaya. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah ANOVA. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa responden yang bekerja pada shift pagi dan siang menunjukkan tingkat kelelahan kerja yang berbeda secara signifikan dibandingkan dengan merekayang bekerja pada shift malam, khususnya dalam hal kelelahan emosional, kelelahan umum dan kelelahan keterampilan.Kata Kunci: shift kerja, kelelahan kerja, hotel, Surabaya
PENGARUH AUDITOR-CLIENT SOCIAL MISMATCH DAN TIPE SUPERVISOR TERHADAP KUALITAS AUDIT
This research aims to provide empirical evidence of the behavior of audit staff that reflects the quality ofaudit performed. This research predicts that audit quality is determined by social mismatch between auditor staffand client. This research also examines the effect of supervisor type on audit quality according to McGregor’stheory. This research is carried out using 2x2 between subject experimental designs. The subjects are studentsin Accounting Department of state university in Central Java.The result indicates that social mismatch between auditor staff and client is able to decrease probabilityto collect audit evidence. However, type of supervisor is not found to be significant determinant of probabilityto collect audit evidence. PENINGKATAN TARIF CUKAI ROKOK DAN DAMPAKNYA TERHADAP PEREKONOMIAN DAN PENDAPATAN SEKTORAL JAWA TENGAH
This study analyzes the effect of excise of cigarette price changes to the consumption of cigarette and Central Java’s economy and household income. In the first stage, with employing panel data regression model,i.e. fixed effect model (FEM) which include 35 regencies/cities in Central Java Province during 2009-2013, the study examines the effect of cigarette excise to cigarette consumption. On the next stage, the study simulatesthe impact of cigarette consumption shock to the Central Java’s sectoral economy and household income using the Central Java 2013 Input-Output table. The findings indicate that the cigarette excise has a tradeoff effect tohousehold’s cigarette consumption. The increase of cigarette excise reduces cigarette consumption, and next, reduces output and sectoral household income. The cigarettes industries suffered the highest impact of thedecrease of the cigarette consumption, followed by other sectors which is has a high link to cigarette industries such as agricultures and tobacco sectors.Keywords: cigarette, excise, panel data regression, input-output analysi
AMPAK RESTRUKTURISASI TERHADAP KEPUASAN KERJA, KOMITMEN ORGANISASI DAN INTENSI KELUAR SURVIVOR.
Restructuring is suspected to be influencing perception of job insecurity. The jobinsecurity will have a negative impact on job satisfaction, organization commitment, and even turnover intention. When insecurity is conceived within someone’s perception, it will lower his or her job satisfaction and also commitment on the company. This research was conducted upon service (bank) and manufacturing companies which had run restructuring in the last four years. It involved 216 respondents with 78.2% of response rate. Simple regression and hierarchical regression analysis were used to analyze the data.An interesting finding of this research is that restructuring conducted in bank andmanufacturing companies has been found out to be having no influence on turnover intention. On the other hand, job insecurity perception does not influence job satisfaction, commitment, and turnover intention. PENGARUH PEMBIAYAAN DEFISIT ANGGARAN TERHADAP INFLASI DAN PERTUMBUHAN EKONOMI: SUATU SIMULASI MODEL EKONOMI MAKRO INDONESIA 1970 – 2003
The objective of this research is to identify the impact of budget deficit financing oninflation and economic growth. Simulation are conducted using the small open macroeconomics model specified by Waluyo (2005) with 10.000 replication on the stochastic simulation. Using the secondary data of the Indonesian economy from 1970 to 2003, simulation results show that budget deficit financing from foreign debt and monetary policies would increase the economic growth, but inflationary. On the other hand, tax effort policies are considered to be better, since simulation results show that they would improve economic growth without being inflationary.Keywords: budget deficit, macroeconomic model, economic growth, simulatio
PERAN TEKNOLOGI DALAM IMPLEMENTASI STRATEGI MANUFAKTUR PADA PERUSAHAAN MANUFAKTUR DI INDONESIA: STUDI DENGAN PENDEKATAN KONTINGENSI
Expanding global competition, rapidly changing market and technology, increasingcomplexity and uncertainty are creating a new competitive environment. To be successful in this globally competitive and rapidly changing environment, organization must formulate strategic plan that is consistent with their investment and technology. This research was conducted to investigate the relationship among manufacturing strategy, technology adoption, and firm performance. Data were collected through mailed questionnaires (525 questionnaires) and direct survey in 25 firms. The questionnaires were sent to 550 CEOs of manufacturing firm in Indonesia. A hundred and six responses returned and made a response rate of 19.27%. The study finds different results for hard and soft technology. Hard technology moderates the relationship between manufacturing strategy and operational performance, as a quasi moderator variable. On the other hand, soft technology has an impact on the manufacturing strategy-performance relationship as an independent predictor variable, but it does not moderate the relationship between manufacturing strategy and operational performance.Keywords: manufacturing strategy, technology adoption, operational performance, technolog
PERANAN INDUSTRI KECIL DALAM MENINGKATKAN PENDAPATAN MASYARAKAT Kasus Pada Industri Kerajinan Batik Kayu di Dusun Krebet, Sendangsari, Pajangan, Bantul
This research is intended to determine the most influencing variable towards the profit of craft men , and to identify the differences in profit based on production, marketing, and economic and social aspects. This research was conducted at the of batik kayu (batik motive painted on wood) industry located in Krebet, Pajangan, Bantul. Data employed in the study were primary data collected from the research location. The method of primary data collection was by questioner and direct interview to respondents. The Purposive Sampling Method was used in determining the samples, and the Multiple Linear Regression and Compare Means Test Method was used as the analysis method. The result of this research indicates that the value of production was the most significant variable that influenced the profit of craft men. Production aspect showed that there was a significant difference of profit means that based on the source of capital and the number of labor. Marketing aspect showed that there was not a significant difference of profit means on the craft men that do direct selling or selling through agent. There was not a significant difference of profit means between those who do and do not do advertising. Economic and social aspect showed that there was a significant difference of profit means based on craft men that have and do not have license.Keywords: Profit, Small and Medium Enterprise, Multiple Linear Regression, Compare Means Test
PENGARUH MOTIVASI KERJA INTRINSIK DAN MOTIVASI KERJA EKSTRINSIK TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN (STUDI PADA PT. ANGKASA PURA I BANDAR UDARA INTERNASIONAL AHMAD YANI SEMARANG)
Work motivation is one of the important factors that can influence dan improve of employees’ performance. This research is intended to analyze the influence of intrinsic work and extrinsic work motivation on the performance of the employees. The respondents consist of 60 employees of PT. Angkasa Pura I in Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang. The questionnaires are used to collect data from the respondents. Forty five (45) items of the questionnaires are used to measure the variable of intrinsic work motivation, extrinsic work motivation and performance of the respondents. The data were analized with multiple regression analysis. The result of the study indicates that: (i) intrinsic work motivation and extrinsic work motivation has positive significant influence on the employees’ performance (ii) intrinsic work motivation has no dominant influence on the employees’ performance.Keywords: intrinsic work motivation, extrinsic work motivation, employees’ performanc
PENGARUH KOMITMEN ORGANISASIONAL TERHADAP SENJANGAN ANGGARAN DENGAN IDEOLOGI ETIS SEBAGAI VARIABEL PEMODERASI
Dysfunctional Behavior, mainly Corruption, pervasively happens in Indonesia. Business people believe in “The Myth of Amoral Businessâ€, in which the meaning of business is profit. The focus of business is to getmaximum profit because profit is perceived as an ultimate goal. Business people always separate business from ethical dimension. In budgeting, dysfunctional behavior manifests in the form of Budgetary Slack. Middle and Low level managers create slack in their budget proposals by underestimating revenues and overestimating expenses intentionally. The objectives of this behavior are anticipating uncertainties and increasing bonuses. Dysfunctional behavior can be weakened by strengthening Ethical Ideology of managers involved in budgeting. Managers with strong Ethical Ideology will behave in the best interest of the company as a whole;on the other hand, managers with weak ethical ideology will maximize their own interest in the expense of companies’ interest.The objective of this research is to examine the effects of organizational commitment on budgetary slack and the role of ethical ideology in moderating these two variables. For this purpose, the data are collected from 187 middle level and top level private company’s managers via questionnaire. ANALISIS HUBUNGAN POLITIK DAN DUKUNGAN ORGANISASIONAL DENGAN SIKAP KERJA, KINERJA, DAN PERILAKU CITIZENSHIP ORGANISASIONAL
This study examined relationship of organizational politics and support to job satisfaction, turnover intent, organizational commitment (affective dan normative), job performance and OCB; and to investigated whether politics could explained incremental variance in dependent variable beyond be explained by support, or vice versa. The sample was accountant staff those working at 15 Public Accountant Offices in Surabaya.The result show that politics were negatively related to job satisfaction, affective and normative commitment, job performance; positively related to turnover intent. Support was positively related to job satisfaction, affective and normative commitment; negatively related to turnover intent.
