Suicide prevention and psychology: A review and future challenges
Get PDFapplication/pdfThe purpose of this study was to clarify how psychological research contributes to suicide prevention.First, we introduced previous reviews dealing with this problem from two perspectives: the theory on prediction of suicide occurrence and validated suicide prevention methods. Although not fully dealt with in previous reviews, we next reviewed studies on suicide prevention education, utilization of internet-related technologies for suicide prevention, and the grief of suicide survivors. In addition, we discussed the issues of psychological research on suicide as a way of improving the prediction accuracy on the occurrence of suicide and generating alternatives for psychiatric discourse on suicide countermeasures. Finally, we discussed the question of whether promoting suicide prevention using psychological knowledge was synonymous with the contribution of psychology to our society based on a review of the research on the value of statistical life.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdf和光大学の図書館司書課程の必修科目「情報サービス論」で実施した受講生アンケート集計結果を素材として、資格課程の専門的知識・技能の習得に必要なカリキュラム上の問題点を整理し、改善策として、(1)資格課程ガイダンスにおけるカリキュラム体系の説明の充実、(2)履修順序のモデルケースの提示、(3)演習科目の前提科目設定の追加、(4)「図書館概論」科目の履修年次の一年次への繰り上げ、(5)司書課程内教員メーリングリストの設置、の5点を挙げた。同時に、本学における基礎教養教育のありかたについて、特に情報リテラシー教育の観点から、改善案として、(1)教育=学習支援システムMoodleの全学的活用、(2)図書館活用法とレポート・論文作成法とプレゼンテーション技法の基礎演習科目への組み込み、(3)基礎演習科目と専門科目における図書、雑誌論文、新聞記事のデータベース検索の反復応用の徹底、(4)レポート課題のパソコンによる作成・システム上での提出の強化、の4点を挙げた。departmental bulletin pape
Educational Interventions for Establishing a Community of Learning of Pre-service EFL Teachers
Get PDFapplication/pdf2006年7月11日の中央教育審議会（中教審）の答申「今後の教員養成・免許制度の在り方について」（文部科学省2006a）において、改革方策の柱として「教職課程の質的水準の向上」が掲げられ、「学部段階で教員として必要な資質能力を確実に身に付ける」ことが示された。国の教師教育に関する制度設計の曖昧さに加えて、教師の専門性が何であるのかが明確にされないまま、開放制のもと、それぞれの課程認定大学が教職課程の改善・充実に向けた主体的な取り組みを余儀なくされることになったのである。本稿では、「大学の英語科教職課程で身に付けるべき力」をめぐる日本の教員養成の現状と課題を概観し、非教員養成系・私立大学の英語科教職科目における筆者の授業実践を報告する。教職履修生の成長にとって、自己評価（self-assessment）や省察（reflection）は重要であり、履修生の「学び」の可視化と「教職の専門性」に関する共通理解を促す点から、省察ツールとしてポートフォリオを活用した授業を行っている。研究ノートdepartmental bulletin pape
Psychological Impact of Having a Parent with Mental Illness among Children Living in Foster Homes : Analysis of Open-ended Questions\n
Get PDFapplication/pdfThis study investigated children living in foster homes, a type of child welfare institution, in Japan. Foster care provides a home environment to children who have been abused and/or neglected by parents who have parenting difficulties. Approximately 12.3% of children living in foster homes in Japan have a parent with mental illness, but despite growing concern, the psychological impact of having a parent with mental illness among foster children is currently not known. In this study, we conducted a follow-up survey of 97 children aged 3–18 years who lived in foster homes and analyzed open-ended survey questions. The major finding was that 35% of the children had a parent with mental illness. Analysis also extracted six psychological impacts of having a parent with mental illness: anxiety/confusion, repressed emotion, distorted image of parents, imitation of parents, parentification, and other. Even after having been separated from their parents and admitted to foster homes, children were disturbed and confused because of the adverse effect of their parents. These findings suggest the importance of providing psychological care for emotional support of foster children struggling with their relationship with their parents.departmental bulletin pape
