Assisting Children in Facing Digital Risks: The Role of Values and Communication
The rapid development of the digital world presents numerous potential risks, particularly for children. Compared to other age groups, children are at a heightened risk of exposure to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and privacy violations due to their limited ability to protect themselves. Parental guidance plays a crucial role in helping children navigate these digital dangers. This study aims to explore the internal factors of parents and their role in supporting children in managing digital risks. Using a qualitative approach and a case study methodology, the study involved four parents of children aged 7 to 12 years who were actively engaged in managing digital risks. Data collection consisted of online surveys, followed by interviews and self-report documents, all of which were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings highlight that internal factors such as parental values and communication significantly influence how effectively parents can support their children in addressing digital risks. Based on these results, it is recommended that future interventions and support programs for parents focus on strengthening communication skills and aligning family values to better equip parents in guiding their children through digital challenges
Foreign Language Anxiety Reduction Methods Induce Positive Psychological Effects on Japanese Students with Social Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder students have been overlooked in the Second Language Acquisition (SLA) domain. This study addresses this gap by focusing on them and examining the psychological effects engendered by Foreign Language Anxiety Reduction Methods. Using the Japanese version Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale to measure Social Anxiety Disorder levels, 114 students were categorized into four levels. They participated in a four-month English course incorporating Foreign Language Anxiety Reduction Methods. Questionnaires were conducted thrice— 1st week, 7th week, and 15th week to assess students’ emotional changes. Results revealed that social anxiety manifested particularly in conjunction with communication apprehension within Foreign Language Anxiety. This response was characteristic of Social Anxiety—the fear of negative evaluation by others. Foreign Language Anxiety Reduction Methods mitigated anxieties. The most effective approach was teacher-centered affirmative support. Furthermore, the anxiety reduction order was distinctive, Social Anxiety diminishing first, followed by Foreign Language Anxiety. Additionally, anxiety alleviation increased motivation. These findings enhance our understanding of SAD learners and inform instructional practices in the Second Language Acquisition domain
Passive Leadership and Cyberloafing: The Dual Mediating Roles of Negative Emotions and Interactional Justice among Indonesian Millennial Workers
Millennials, known for being “always connected,” use the internet extensively for information but are also at risk of cyberloafing. This study, based on the transactional theory of stress and coping (Lazarus & Folkman, 1987), examined the impact of passive leadership on cyberloafing through the mediating roles of interactional justice and negative emotions among Indonesian millennial workers. This cross-sectional research employed purposive sampling to collect data from 634 workers aged 26 to 42 years. Measurements included the Cyberloafing Scale, the Justice Scale, the Job-Related Affective Well-Being Scale, and the Multifactor Leadership Scale. The findings revealed that negative emotions significantly and partially mediated the effect of passive leadership on cyberloafing (t = 9.014, p = 0.000). However, interactional justice did not significantly mediate this relationship (t = 0.021, p = 0.983), although passive leadership influenced perceptions of interactional justice. These findings suggest implications for leadership development and workplace well-being initiatives. Organizations may benefit from fostering proactive leadership styles, enhancing transparent communication, and creating psychologically supportive environments. Moreover, interventions aimed at improving employees’ emotional regulation and coping strategies could be valuable in mitigating the negative effects of passive leadership on work behavior
Penentuan Cadangan Premi Dengan Metode Fackler Pada Asuransi Jiwa Dwiguna
Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) of Antihypertensives Use in Inpatient Hemodialysis Patients at Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Hospital Samarinda
Hypertension is the first comorbid disease that can occur in patients with damaged kidney function. Apart from that, hypertension is a complicating disease that often occurs during the hemodialysis process. The large variations in the use of antihypertensives in patients with chronic renal failure on hemodialysis therapy can affect the cost incurred by these patients. The purpose of this study was to optimize the use of the most cost-effective and pharmacological antihypertensive drugs in patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy. This research is a descriptive study with a pharmacoeconomic approach using the Cost Effectiveness Analysis (CEA) method. The measurement indices used to analyze the data are ACER and ICER. Data collection was conducted retrospectively, taken from the medical records of inpatient hemodialysis patients by reviewing the inclusion data of patients who were eligible to be research objects. Direct medical costs were taken from the average cost of hemodialysis, other procedures, room costs and drug costs. The effectiveness of drug therapy was determined based on the Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) value that met the normal value. Research data is grouped based on therapy patterns and then analyzed to obtain cost – effective therapy. The results of the study showed that the percentage effectiveness of antihypertensive therapy with Furosemide was 46%, the combination of Amlodipine and Candesartan was 69% and the combination of Furosemide, Amlodipine, and Candesartan was 56%. Based on the ACER value of Rp. 1,726,133.4, the combination of antihypertensive Amlodipine and Candesartan is the most cost-effective therapy option and based on the ICER value of Rp. -6,697,330.3, the combination of antihypertensive Amlodipine and Candesartan is also the most cost-effective therapy option
Effectiveness of augmented reality application on critical thinking skills of elementary school students based on learning interest
Mathematics learning in elementary schools is still dominated by conventional methods such as lectures and the use of two-dimensional images, which do not support the development of critical thinking skills and students' spatial understanding. This challenge is increasingly relevant in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, which demands the integration of technology in the learning process. This study aims to analyze the effect of the use of Augmented Reality (AR) on critical thinking skills and students' learning interest in learning spatial figures. The study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The sample consisted of 60 elementary school students in Banjarsari District who were divided into an experimental group (using AR) and a control group (conventional method). Learning lasted for four weeks, with three sessions per week. The research instruments included a critical thinking test based on Ennis's indicators and a Likert-scale learning interest questionnaire. The results of the analysis using the Shapiro-Wilk and Mann-Whitney U tests showed a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the critical thinking posttest scores (p = 0.0076). The increase occurred in the aspects of clarification, inference, and argument evaluation. In addition, students' learning interest in the experimental group also increased, indicated by active involvement and higher motivation. In conclusion, using AR effectively improves students' critical thinking skills and learning interests. The implications of this study indicate that AR technology can be an innovative alternative to mathematics learning. The contribution of this study lies in the development of technology-based learning strategies to support the 21st-century skills of elementary school students
