    No full text
This study investigates how the use of ICT tools can enhance students’ conceptual understanding of the area of a circle in a sixth-grade mathematics classroom. A six-lesson unit was designed integrating tools such as GeoGebra, Figma, a digital textbook, and Google Sheets. These tools supported different phases of learning from visual estimation and formula derivation to application and reflection. Students engaged in dynamic and collaborative tasks, which encouraged them to visualize geometric transformations, share strategies, and reflect on their understanding. Analysis of lesson observations and student reflections revealed three key learning outcomes: improved conceptual understanding through visual representations, increased strategic flexibility via peer interaction, and enhanced metacognitive awareness. The study highlights the importance of selecting and sequencing digital tools according to instructional goals, showing that well-orchestrated ICT integration can deepen mathematical thinking and promote active, reflective learning

The increasing cases of sexual harassment, particularly among teenagers, have become a critical issue that requires immediate attention. One preventive effort is enhancing assertiveness skills, which can be improved through informational services provided by guidance and counseling teachers. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of informational services based on sumbang duo baleh using a contextual learning approach to enhance students' assertive behavior in preventing sexual harassment. The research employs a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a time-series design. The sample was randomly selected, involving one class as the experimental group, consisting of 29 female students of Minangkabau ethnicity. Data were collected using a scale measuring students' assertive behavior in preventing sexual harassment, administered as a pretest and posttest. The results show that informational services based on sumbang duo baleh with a contextual learning approach are moderately effective in improving students' assertive behavior, with an N-Gain score of 54.5% (0.5450). The percentage of students' assertive behavior increased by 12.89%, from 59.54% in the pretest to 76.61% in the posttest. Furthermore, the average score improved from 111.75 in the pretest to 176.2 in the posttest. These findings indicate that informational services based on sumbang duo baleh can serve as an effective approach to enhancing students' assertiveness as a preventive measure against sexual harassment

Breaking the stereotype: Women with environmental food knowledge eat more than men

    Get PDF
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as obesity have increased from 14.8% to 21.8% since 2018. One of the causes of this rise in obesity is individuals taking larger portions than their ideal size. It is suspected that knowledge of environmentally friendly foods influences portion size, thereby impacting the environment. Besides knowledge of environmentally friendly foods, hunger is also predicted to play a significant role in determining portion size. Therefore, research is needed on the influence of knowledge of environmentally friendly foods and hunger on portion size. The researchers aim to investigate further the influence of knowledge of environmentally friendly foods and hunger on portion size from a gender perspective. This study uses a quasi-experimental design method with 123 participants. Data analysis uses a generalized linear model. The results of this study indicate that the interaction between gender, knowledge of environmentally friendly foods, and hunger affects portion size (p= .008), the interaction between gender and knowledge of environmentally friendly foods affects portion size (p=.005), the interaction between gender and hunger affects portion size (p=.013), and gender has a positive and significant effect on portion size (p=.012). Future research can review personal factors such as behavioral intentions, values, and attitudes. In addition, considering that portion size is an external factor that can be modified, it is necessary to educate the public about appropriate and more environmentally friendly portion sizes

Faith-Based Sense of Community among Volunteers in a Muslim Women’s Organization in Indonesia: A Qualitative Case Study

    Get PDF
This study aimed to explore the experience of a sense of community among volunteers of Yayasan Rumpun Nurani (YRN), a faith-based social organization in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study design, this study examines how shared Islamic values and informal community structures contribute to volunteer cohesion and organizational sustainability. Data were collected through focus group discussions, participatory observation, and document analysis of twenty active volunteers. Data analysis was conducted using Braun and Clarke's six-step thematic analysis approach. The results of the analysis resulted in eight interrelated themes: shared values and vision, belonging, peer support and emotional contagion, flexible commitment, spiritual and personal growth, conflict management, youth engagement and regeneration, and social and professional benefits. These findings suggest that spiritual values, relational dynamics, and non-hierarchical participation play a central role in fostering a sense of community in the context of grassroots communities. Theoretically, this research enriches community psychology by contextualizing the theory of sense of community in collectivist Islamic culture. Practically, the results of this study provide insights for the development of faith-based empowerment programs that strengthen social cohesion, women's participation, and cross-generational involvement in volunteer organizations

Turnover Intention among Gen Z Employees: The Influence of Work Stress and Openness to Experience Personality

    Get PDF
Generation Z is poised to dominate Indonesia’s workforce and is often described as adaptable, flexible, and open to new experiences. At the same time, this cohort shows comparatively high turnover intention. This study examined the effects of job stress and openness to experience on turnover intention among Gen Z employees. Using a quantitative correlational design, 251 Indonesian Gen Z workers completed the Openness to Experience Scale, Job Stress Scale, and Turnover Intention Scale via an online survey. Multiple linear regression (JAMOVI) indicated that both predictors significantly explained variance in turnover intention, individually and jointly, with job stress exerting the stronger effect. These findings suggest that Gen Z turnover intention is driven primarily by situational pressures rather than dispositional openness. Organizations should prioritize practices that mitigate stress—such as fair recognition, equitable policies, work–life balance, and supportive interpersonal climates—to curb turnover intention in this demographic

When Hope, Gratitude, and Mindfulness Meet: A Positive Psychology Approach to Job Performance

    Get PDF
Job performance is a highly relevant topic in industrial and organizational psychology; however, its association with internal psychological strengths such as hope, gratitude, and mindfulness has been relatively underexplored, particularly across different cultural contexts. Existing studies on job performance tend to emphasize negative factors, such as stress and workload, while the role of positive psychological factors remains comparatively neglected, especially in Indonesia. The present study examined the contribution of hope, gratitude, and mindfulness to job performance among 205 employees in Indonesia using a cross-sectional quantitative design. Data were collected via an online questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicated that the research model was significant, F (3, 201) = 61.00, p < .001, R² = .477, showing that the three variables jointly explained approximately 48% of the variance in job performance. Specifically, hope and mindfulness had positive and significant effects on job performance, whereas gratitude did not demonstrate a significant positive effect. These findings underscore the importance of considering individual strengths—namely hope, gratitude, and mindfulness—in recruitment processes as well as in the design of organizational training and intervention programs aimed at enhancing employee performance

Association of residence and regional location with depression prevalence in Indonesia: an analysis of the Indonesian health survey 2023

    Get PDF
Depression is a mental health condition characterized by persistent sadness, loss of interest in daily activities, and fatigue. It affects an individual’s ability to function and engage in everyday life. In Indonesia, depression is a growing public health concern. Geographic factors, such as residence (urban vs rural) and regional (West, Central, East Indonesia), may influence the prevalence of depression due to variations in social environment, healthcare access, and stress exposure. This study aims to identify factors associated with depression based on residential and regional location, utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) with a descriptive research design and cross-sectional method. This study employed a descriptive, cross-sectional design using data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). The inclusion criteria were individuals aged 18 and above who self-reported depression. Key variables analyzed included gender, age, residence (urban or rural), and regional location in Indonesia. A Chi-square test was applied to examine the association between depression and geographic factors, with a significance level of p < 0.05. A total of 10,504 subjects with self-reported depression were identified, of which 67.76% were female. The analysis showed a higher depression prevalence among urban residents, 60.78% compared to rural areas, 32.23%. Additionally, depression prevalence was higher in Western Indonesia (60.22%) than in Central and Eastern Indonesia. The analysis revealed a significant association between residence, regional area, and depression in Indonesia, with p-values of 0.001 for all three. Therefore, this study concludes that there is a significant association between self-reported depression, residential and regional location, with urban dwellers exhibiting a higher prevalence of depression (p<0.005). These findings highlight the need for enhanced mental health services in urban areas to address the higher depression rates

Black garlic is obtained through a controlled fermentation process that alters its color, aroma, and flavor while enhancing its concentration of bioactive compounds. This product is rich in phenolics, flavonoids, alkaloids, and organosulfur compounds such as S-allyl cysteine, which are known to exhibit antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. This study aimed to determine the total alkaloid, flavonoid, and phenolic content, antioxidant activity, and acute toxicity profile of black garlic. Black garlic samples were prepared by fermenting Solo garlic for 12 days at 60–70 °C. Alkaloid content was analyzed spectrophotometrically using Bromocresol Green reagent with quinine as the standard, flavonoid content was determined using quercetin, and total phenolic content was measured using the Folin–Ciocalteu method with gallic acid as the standard. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH method, while acute toxicity testing was conducted on male BALB/c mice at doses of 500–5.000 mg/kg BW following OECD/GHS guidelines. The results showed that black garlic contained 301.65 ± 3.436 mg QE/kg alkaloids, 2.190 ± 0.051 mg QE/g flavonoids, and 81.976 ± 1.179 mg GAE/g phenolics. Antioxidant activity was categorized as very strong with an IC₅₀ value of 9.94 ± 0.012 ppm, comparable to Vitamin C (9.92 ± 0.005 ppm). Acute toxicity tests revealed no toxic symptoms or mortality up to 5.000 mg/kg BW, classifying black garlic as practically non-toxic. In conclusion, black garlic is rich in bioactive compounds, demonstrates strong antioxidant activity, and is safe for consumption, making it a potential functional food and health supplement

    Get PDF
Research shows that hooking up is now part of college life, as young adulthood is where individuals explore. However, most studies tackling hookup culture are Western-centered. This research aims to study hookup culture in Manila universities, describe their possible consequences, determine perceptions, motivations, and affective responses of students who engage in hookups, and provide measures for safe sexual practices. Through narrative research, three males and three females, who were at least 18 years old, Manila college students, and experienced the culture, were interviewed. Narratives’ analysis found that students share a common understanding of what a hookup is, factors why they engage in hookup culture were determined, and they experienced emotional ambivalence following a hookup. It is recommended to provide comprehensive sexuality education, safe spaces for students to have open discussions, and competent mental health providers. Future research is needed to address the impacts of technology in spreading hookup culture.
