    Penatalaksanaan penyakit pre-diabetes mellitus pada dokter keluarga di Kota Manado

    Introduction: Pre-diabetes is a condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. Control of DMT2 disease requires a holistic approach to meet the needs of the community through the pre-diabetes group, namely family physicians. Studies have found that general practitioner that have limited knowledge of risk factors for pre-diabetes screening, laboratory diagnostic criteria for pre-diabetes, and management recommendations for patients with pre-diabetes contributing to an inadequate diagnosis of pre-diabetes. Purpose: To find the behavior of family physicians in the management of chronic disease pre-diabetes mellitus in Manado City. Methods: This research is a descriptive study using a cross-sectional design. Result: The results showed that the knowledges level of family physicians in Manado City was in the good category totaling 31 doctors (100%), the attitudes level of family physicians in the good category with 31 doctors (100%), and the practice level of family physicians was in the good category with 31 doctors (100). Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, family physicians in Manado have good knowledge, attitude, and practice about pre-diabetes. Keywords: pre-diabetes, behavior, family physicians &nbsp

    The COVID-19 pandemic has caused health and education emergencies that have an impact on the lives of teenage students, resulting in significant changes in teenage lifestyles, such as the desire to consume alcohol, cigarettes, and others. However, the most crucial impact that is felt is the creation of snoring behavior among adolescents. Smoking behavior has a negative impact on the quality of life of adolescents, which causes problems in the adolescent's environment. From this phenomenon, researchers conducted research in order to find out the picture of the quality of life of young smokers at SMA Negeri 3 Manado during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research used a quantitative descriptive with convenience sampling techniques within the limits of the inclusion criteria. The research tools used were the WHOQOL-BREF and GSHS 2015 questionnaires in electronic form. The results of the 85 respondents show that average quality of life scores include domains: physical, psychological, social relationships, and environmental, they’re all in the range of 40 to 80. The subjects of the research were an average of 15 – years – old, who has only begun smoking at age of 14 with the frequency of smoking being 10 - 29 days, and had family members who smoke cigarettes. The research conclusion is the overview of the quality of life in the physical, psychological, social relationship, and environment domains of 85 teenagers smokers mostly have the moderate quality of life.Keywords: smoking behavior, quality of lifeÂ

    Volcanic eruptions can cause health problems. To prepare for a volcanic eruption disaster, knowledge, attitudes, and actions are needed which are important components of preparedness.  This study aims to describe the preparedness of Lokon St. Nikolaus Tomohon highschool students on the eruption of Mount Lokon. This research is descriptive in nature with a cross-sectional research design which was carried out in October-December 2022. This study used a simple random sampling method and obtained 173 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instrument used was a student preparedness questionnaire for volcanic eruptions. The level of preparedness of Lokon St. Nikolaus Tomohon in the good category totaling 152 students (87.9%), based on age characteristics in the good category there are 19 years old with a total of 2 students (100%), based on gender characteristics in the good category there is female gender totaling 90 students (90.9 %), and based on the characteristics of the region of origin in the good category, there are other regions with a total of 55 students (90.2%).     Sleep quality, if not met, will affect the health of the fetus. Pregnant women need about eight hours to sleep at night, besides napping is also needed by pregnant women when entering the second and third trimesters. The more complaints the mother feels so that it interferes with rest at bedtime. One solution to overcome this discomfort is to use the pregnancy exercise method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of pregnancy exercise on sleep quality in second and third trimester pregnant women at the Kema Minahasa Public Health Center, North Sumatra. This type of research use a pre-experiment in the form of a one-group Pre-post-test design. The population of this study was pregnant women in the second and third trimester. In the area of the North Kema MInahasa Public Health Center with a total of 16 respondents, the sample Technique used proposive sampling. The results of this study indicate that before the implementation of Pregnancy exercise, 15 pregant women (93,8 %) had poor sleep quality and after the exercise, the quality of sleep in the good category increased to 14 respondents (87,5%). Wilcoxon test results p = 0.000 which means p <0.05, namely Ha is accepted. The conclusion from the results of this study showed thaht was an effect of pregnancy exercise on the quality of sleep pf pregnant women in the second and third trimesters.     The COVID-19 pandemic is causing anxiety in the community. This anxiety is also felt by adolescents so teenagers become one of the groups at risk of having poor sleep quality. Unmet sleep quality may have an impact on improving health for the process of restoring body functions in order to complete daily tasks and have a good quality of life. This research aims to describe the quality of life along with the quality of sleep of Catholic High School teenager Rex Mundi Manado during the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. Students of Rex Mundi Catholic High School who reach the inclusion criteria were recruited through cluster random sampling. WHOQOL-BREF and PSQI questionnaires were used as tools through online data collection In total,. 87 students participated in this study and showed the average quality of life score in the physical domain, psychology, social relations, and the environment was at a score of 51-75. The majority of students had scores good enough for subjective sleep quality, 1-2 for latent sleep, 6-7 hours of sleep, efficient sleep >85%, sleep disorder scores of 1-9, and the majority had never used sleep medications in the past month, and for daytime dysfunction had a score of 1-2. The conclusion of the study is that most respondents have a moderate level of quality of life in the domain of physical, psychological, social relationships, environment, and have good sleep quality.Keywords: quality of life, quality of sleepÂ

    Background: Family physicians as primary care doctors and first medical contacts in providing services through a reciprocal referral mechanism including in disaster management and emergency services to prevent and reduce the impact caused by disasters. North Sulawesi as a disaster-prone area shows the high need for doctors who are responsive and ready to handle disasters which are influenced by factors of knowledge, attitudes, and actions in dealing with disasters. Purpose: To find out the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of family physicians in North Sulawesi in dealing with disasters. Methods: This research is descriptive in nature with a cross-sectional research design for all primary care family medicine specialists in North Sulawesi. This research used a purposive sampling method which was carried out in October-November 2022 and found 29 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Result: Family physicians in North Sulawesi have good knowledge, positive attitudes, and adequate actions in dealing with disasters.     Prevalensi diabetes melitus tipe 2 pada masa pandemi COVID-19 di praktik dokter keluarga Kota Manado

    Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels. As the 6th leading cause of death in developing countries, type 2 DM (T2DM) accounts for 90% of all DM cases. Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) 2018 states prevalence of DM in Manado City was 4.51%. This study aims to determine the epidemiological data of T2DM during the COVID-19 pandemic in family doctor practices in Manado City, with the specific aim of knowing its prevalence and pattern of it. This study was a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional study design. Data were from the medical record data of T2DM patients in family doctor practices in Manado City from June 2021 to May 2022. The results showed that the prevalence of T2DM in family doctor practices was 28.64%. Most patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were female, and most T2DM patients were over 65 years old. Local health services can carry out counselling efforts to prevent DM disease. DM berada di urutan ke-6 yang menyebabkan kematian di negara berkembang dengan diabetes melitus tipe 2 (DMT2) mengambil 90% bagian dari semua kasus DM secara umum. Riset kesehatan dasar (Riskesdas) 2018 menyatakan prevalensi DM Kota Manado adalah 4,51%. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran epidemiologi DMT2 pada masa pandemi COVID-19 (Juni 2021 – Mei 2022) di praktik dokter keluarga Kota Manado dengan tujuan khusus mengetahui prevalensi dan pola kejadian DMT2 di praktik dokter keluarga Kota Manado. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif retrospektif dengan desain studi cross- sectional dengan mengambil data rekam medis pasien DMT2 di praktik dokter keluarga Kota Manado dari bulan Juni 2021 sampai bulan Mei 2022. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi DMT2 pada praktik dokter keluarga yaitu 28,64%. Sebagian besar pasien DMT2 memiliki jenis kelamin perempuan dan pasien DMT2 paling banyak berada pada usia di atas 65 tahun. Layanan kesehatan setempat dapat melakukan upaya penyuluhan pencegahan penyakit DM. Kata Kunci: diabetes melitus tipe 2, prevalensi, pola kejadian, usia, jenis kelami

    Natural disasters are frequent events in Indonesia. The occurrence of natural disasters will result in various kinds of damage, losses, and even health problems. Lack of knowledge about disaster preparedness will affect a person's attitude and actions in dealing with disasters. It takes special expertise of medical students who will become a competent doctor in health services during natural disasters. This study aims to determine the description of knowledge, attitudes, and actions of students of the Medical Education Study Program, Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University towards natural disaster preparedness. This is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design with a sampling technique using simple random sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire (Google form). Total respondents who participated in this study were 116 respondents. The results showed that Medical Education students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University mostly had high knowledge of disaster preparedness as much as 61.2%, a positive attitude towards disaster preparedness as much as 63.8%, and were able to take action on disaster preparedness as much as 71.6%. From the result of this study, it can be concluded that Medical Education Students of the Faculty of Medicine, Sam Ratulangi University have high levels of knowledge, positive attitudes, and capable actions in natural disaster preparedness.     Background: Adolescent is a period of growth that is most unique since there are very large changes covering physical, psychological and social development. The growth and development of adolescents are influenced by the quality of life with physical activity. However, the COVID-19 epidemic has severely limited the physical activity of adolescents, which has an impact on their quality of life and growth.Objective: The general aim of this study was to discover the quality of adolescent life and physical activity during the pandemic and the specific objective was to find out an overview of the quality of life, physical dimensions, psychological dimensions, social dimensions, environmental dimensions in physical activity.Method: This study used descriptive research with a cross-sectional design and it also used the cluster random sampling technique and simple random sampling by distributing WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires and the Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS) through google form.Results: Based on the 91 samples, it indicated that the physical health dimension of students with light physical activity, most of the good quality of life was 37.4, the psychological dimension with moderate physical activity, most of the good quality of life was 29.7, the social dimension with the most moderate student activity was 31.9.Conclusion: Students of SMP Negeri 2 Manado had a good and moderate quality of life, while their physical activity was moderate in all dimensions.Keywords: quality of life, physical activity, adolescents, COVID-19.Â

    Background: Adolescance is a transitional period that creates significant change of physical, psychological, environment and social that can determine the quality of human life so that adolescents need a place to chanel theie mental turmoil due to these change. The role of school as a protection mechanism for adolescents during a pandemic has become less effective then can lead them to the various problems including alcohol consumption.Aim: This study aims to describe the quality of life and alcohol consumption of the student of SMA Negeri 7 Manado during the COVID-19 pandemic.Methods: This research is descriptive with a cross sectional design and has been conducted from September to December 2020. By using the stratified random sampling method, it has been found that 93 respondents met the inclusion and exclusion criteria.Results and Conclusion :The results showing that the quality of life of  SMA 7 Manado adolescents, both girls and boys, is in the moderate category, this has been seen in the physical domain of men that is (66.71%), psychological (52%), social (58.26%), the environment (67.98%).  Physical domain is in female students (67.5%), psychological (57.84%), social (60.85%), and environment (67.98%).  Alcohol consumption of adolescents in SMA 7 Manado is still in the low category, that is (14%).Keywords: quality of life, adolescents, alcohol, COVID-19, pandemicÂ
