Get PDFapplication/pdfCurrently marketed modeling compound impression materials, and a new thermoplastic high polymer impression material, were compared in terms of their themoplastic characteristics, and their physical and mechanical properties. The twelve kinds of modeling compounds used included both Japanese and foreign products. The new material consists of poly capryl lactone. It must be softened at 72-82℃, but can be used for taking impressions at 48℃. It has higher compressive strength and Young's modulus, but less elasticity than conventional modeling compounds. Its thermal conductivity in low, and its specific heat high. From these factors it is concluded that the new impression material is suitable for a variety of applications including impressions for an individual tray, for complete dentures, or for determining the occlusal relation.journal articl

Get PDFapplication/pdfUsing a ^C-labeled compound, the fate of the silicone oil component of the root canal filling material "Vitapex" embedded in subcutaneous tissue was investigated. Under general anesthesia, a total of 500 mg of paste (500 μCi of ^C) was embedded in the dorsal subcutaneous connective tissue of a rat. The animal was kept in a metabolic cage during the experimental period. The feces and urine were collected every day. Thirteen days after embedding, the animal was killed and organs were taken. Radioactivity of the feces, urine, and organs was measured with a liquid scintillation spectrometer. The results are as follows. Some of the ^C compound was excreted in the feces and urine. The amount excreted in the feces averaged 3.1217 × 10^ μCi/day, and the total amount over the experimental period (13 days) was 4.5818 × 10^ μCi. In the urine, the ^C level averaged about 10-fold less, or 3.6646 × 10^ μCi/day, and 4.7640 × 10^ μCi was excreted over the experimental period. The total amount excreted by the animal (in feces and urine) was thus 5.0583 × 10^ μCi, equal to about 0.1% of the total dose (500 μCi) embedded. Further, the ^C-labeled compound was found distributed in many tissues and organs, such as the skin, kidney, bladder, liver, bone, digestive tract, blood, adrenal gland, and spleen.journal articl
妊娠中期に発症した急性下顎骨骨髄炎の1例
Get PDFapplication/pdfWe report a case of acute osteomyelitis, which appeared in the left side of the mandible of a 24-year-old female in pregnancy. During hospitalization, a large amount of aspirin DL-lysine was medicated for the intense pain due to acute osteomyelitis. Aspirin itself has been closely studied and assessed of clinical significance in pregnancy. It is often found to reduce the mean birth weight, prolong gestation and labor and increase both blood loss at delivery and perinatal mortality. With due consideration to the potential influence on mother and fetus, we injected aspirin DL-lysine for improvement of local symptoms of the disease, and again after the surgical procedure of tooth extraction. The patient had a healthy boy of 2,800 g and experienced no sharp aches or swelling in the mandibular region after childbirth. We conclude that on the basis of a positive physician/patient relationship and with proper caution, safe and effective medication and surgical procedures can be selected for osteomyelitis when accompanied by the risk factor of pregnancy.journal articl
各種治療用手袋の実用性について : 保存科での使用経験について
Get PDFapplication/pdfSeven different types of surgical gloves (Readiwrap-N^[○!R], Nipro Disposable^[○!R], Triflex Regular^[○!R], Triflex Low Powdered^[○!R], Ultraderm^[○!R], Ansell Gamex^[○!R], and Dentcraft Latex^[○!R]) were used in the Conservative Dentistry Clinic of Matsumoto Dental College to evaluate their usefulness in dental treatment. The results obtained are as follows. 1. Triflex Low Powdered surgical gloves were appraised best, followed by Ansell Gamex. The five remaining types were judged inferior to these two products. 2. The surface of all types became increasingly sticky with the length of utilization and repeated scrubbing. This made it difficult to form cotton pledgets or to wrap absorbent cotton around the end of a broach, for cleaning or applying medication. 3. It was recognized that one important factor in the ease of use is the selection of gloves that fit the hands well.journal articl
