顎変形症および顎関節症の顎口腔機能診断
application/pdfRecently, stomatognathic function analysis has been recognized as essential to diagnosis and treatment planning, especially in patients with dento-skeletal discrepancies and TMJ disorders. Functional malocclusion should be carefully judged in diagnosis of pre-surgical orthodontic treatment and TMJ disorders. Also, the estimation of the EMG power and jaw movement pathway changes before and after surgery are very effective in estimating the occlusal stability and expectations of post-surgical relapse. A new stomatognathic functional system (OSFAS) has been completed and OSFAS is now being operated in our clinics. Furthermore, establishment of OSFAS will lead our dental hospital to be acknowledged as an institution of specialized advanced dental care for pre-surgical and post-surgical orthodontic treatment which is covered by health insurance.journal articl

application/pdfIn determining the length of a root canal by electrical means, a mouth angle electrode is placed on the buccal mucous membrane. This device has been marketed; it consists of a square stainless steel plate (2.0×2.5cm, 5cm^2) and a wire spring with a diameter of 0.8mm.. Sometimes it causes discomfort in the patient's mouth and mucous membrane covering the mandible due to the wire or corner of the electrode. The mouth angle electrode was improved by modifying the shape from square to round without altering its area, and by changing the wire spring to a leaf spring.journal articl

application/pdfIn the observation of the superior thyroid artery, lingual artery and facial artery which arise from the anterior border of the external carotid artery of 9 Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata) (18 cases), the following results were obtained: 1. The common trunk arises in the following percentage: The linguofacial trunk arises in 50.0 per cent, the thyreo-linguo-facial trunk arises in 33.3 per cent, and the laryngo-linguo-facial trunk arises in 16.7 per cent, which are relatively high percentages as compared to humans. 2. As to the average length of the common trunk, the linguo-facial trunk and thyreolinguo-facial trunk are 8.2 mm and ll.5 mm in length, respectively. 3. As to the average length from the position dividing into the internal carotid and external carotid arteries to the one dividing into the common trunk, linguo-facial trunk, and thyreo-linguo-facial trunk.journal articl
複模型用寒天印象材の粘弾性挙動 : クリープ解析
application/pdfIn order to accumulate the fundamental data for discussing the viscoelastic behavior of duplicating hydrocolloids, their creep was measured by the parallel plate plastometer. The results are summarized as follows: It was shown that creep curves of all duplicating hydrocolloids can be approximated by the six-element Voigt model (V-model). In discussing each element of the V-model, Gelidium Hydrocolloid (Ge) and Levogel (L) were largest, with regard to the values of Young's modulus in the instantaneous region. As for the values of the coefficient of viscosity in the viscosity region, Gracilaria hydrocolloid (Gr) and L were smallest. As to the creep recovery, Ready-Mixed Duplicating Colloid (R) and L were fast while Ge and Gr were slow. From there results, L is able to show that the viscoelastic behavior is very effective in clinical use.journal articl

application/pdfIn 1989 study was made of 839 Crowns which had been fabricated for patients at the Prosthodontic Clinic of Matsumoto Dental College. Some of results were as follows; 1) 44.5% of the patients were male and 55.5% were female. 2) 91.7% of the patients were between 20 and 69 years old. 3) There were more crowns of the upper abutment teeth than of the lower abutment teeth. 4) 73.8% of the crowns were fabricated for nonvital teeth. 5) 39.2% of the crowns were fabricated as full cast crowns; 28.2% as facing crowns, (22.4% as porcelain fused to metal crowns, 5.4% as resin facing crowns); 11.6% as jacket crowns, (11.6% as resin jacket crowns and 0.1% as porcelain jacket crowns); 20.3% as partial coverage crowns and 0.7% as dowel crowns.journal articl
Brushing in Handicapped Children Part 2 The Results of a Toothbrushing Instruction System According to Learning Theory
journal articl
ポリオレフィン系軟質裏装材の基礎的検討 第2報 各種溶液における変色について
application/pdfOne of the fundamental principles of complete denture prosthesis is the prevention of undue movement of the denture during function; in an effort to reduce movement it is generally recognized that a rigid denture base is desirable. There are, however, cases when the denture-bearing area is of such a nature as to make coverage by a rigid denture intolerable to the patient. Many patients experience pain and difficulty using dentures constructed with hard denture bases. Accordingly resilient materials have been used to increase resilience during function and under pressure. The desirable properties, and certain clinical requirements, of a resilient denture base materials have been suggested : (1) non-irritant and non-toxic to the oral tissue, odorless and tasteless, (2) dimensionally stable during processing and in use, (3) low water sorption, (4) high abrasion resistance, (5) permanent resilience, (6) color stability, (7) adequate bond strength to the rigid denture base resin, (8) no adverse effects on the denture base such as distortion, loss of strength, crazing, or blanching, (9) ease of processing, finishing and polishing and (10) ease of repair. However, such an excellent material cannot be found in clinics. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the color stability of one of the resilient soft lining materials, "Molteno", for a removable prosthesis. The results were obtained as follows : (1) The values were not influenced by the three solutions, saline, turmeric, and red color No.102. (2) The hue was influenced by all solutions, and especially by olive oil which contains theβ-carotene. (3) The degree of color change differed depending on the solution.journal articl
