ラットの皮下組織内に埋入したスクアランに対する組織反応
application/pdfTissue reactions to subcutaneously embedded squalane fluid were histopathologically investigated, using twenty six female adult SD rats. The experimental periods ranged from one day to six weeks. The results are as follows: 1) No abnormalities appeared in the entire body of all experimental rats compared with the control animals by macroscopic observations during the experimental periods. 2) Histopathologically, granulation tissue formation with a slight inflammatory cell infiltration was elicited by the squalane fluid, although no degeneration and necrosis were recognized in the embedded area. 3) Some of the squalane were phagocytosed by macrophages in the granulation tissue, and no encapsulation was observed. 4) Accordingly, these data lead us to believe that squalane fluid is usable as a drug carrier inside the body.journal articl
有床義歯装着者による義歯の「臭い」に関するアンケート調査
application/pdfDental prosthesis odor or smell has received little attention. In particular, the odor of removable appliances such as removable partial and complete dentures made from acrylic resins are quite unfamiliar to patients and practitioners. It seems that the smell of resin dentures is unpleasant for some people, especially when a denture wearer is talking with a non-denture wearer. We conducted a survey on resin denture odor. Almost one hundred denture wearers were surveyed and their awareness of the odor was evaluated. The results were as follows: 1) About 20% of them felt that the smell of their dentures was unpleasant. 2) The ratio of those using dentures to those not using dentures at night was larger for women than men. 3) Hardly any of the men used denture cleaners. 4) When a fragrance could be added to the dentures, the survey showed that most people preferred peppermint oil.journal articl
Effects of Stannous Chloride on the Rat Neuromuscular Transmission
application/pdfStannous chloride (SnCl_2) facilitates frog neuromuscular transmission. Effects of SnCl_2 on the neuromuscular junction of the rat have been investigated to determine whether mammalian responses to SnCl_2 are the same as those of amphibians. SnCl_2 (30 μM) had no effect on the resting potential or the membrane resistance of the muscle fiber. SnCl_2 did not change the amplitude of the endplate potential. SnCl_2 significantly raised the frequency of the miniature endplate potential in the high potassium-medium. SnCl_2 decreased the amplitude of the miniature endplate potential. These results suggest that SnCl_2 may facilitate the transmitter release from the nerve terminals, but it may reduce the acetylcholine sensitivity of the endplate in the rat.journal articl
カルビタール®の現行処方と改良処方の末および液の抗菌活性の比較
application/pdfAntimicrobial activity of the powder and liquid materials of both types of original and modified Calvital was compared and the following results were obtained. As for the powder materials, both types of Calvital showed obvious activity against various kinds of bacteria and fungi including saprophytic ubiquitous microbes such as B. subtilis and Cladsporium sp. The potency of the inhibitory activity of both types was the same and their action mode appeared to be bacteriocidal. From these observations, storage and stability of the powder material of modified Calvital are thought to be satisfactory. On the other hand, no inhibitory zone against a saprophytic fungus strain No. 1 (Cladsporium sp.) was formed by the liquid materials of both types of Calvital, when tested by agar gel diffusion method. However, the viable cells of this strain which had been exposed to the liquid materials decreased, indicating that the liquid materials possessed inhibitory activity. The other bacterial and fungal strains examined were found to be inhibited to the same degree. As compared with original Calvital, modified type tended to have slightly lower activity only against S. aureus and E. coli. The action was determined also to be bacteriocidal. Therefore, storage and stability of the liquid material of modified Calvital are judged to be sufficient.journal articl
補綴前処置として歯根端切除術を施した症例
application/pdfOccasionally we cannot use non-surgical endodontics. At that time, depending on the circumstances, apicoectomy can be effective. This paper is a report of a case observation; the affected tooth, for which non-surgical endodontics could not be use, required apicoectomy. Namely, a post crown, difficult to remove, existed on the 2 tooth, causing a problem with the next tooth, therefore requiring apicoectomy and retrofilling at sealer and guttapercha point. After that, it was crowned with a porcelain veneer crown.journal articl
新型二重金属板による暫間固定法 : 第1報 接着強さに関する基礎的研究
application/pdfWe performed our evaluation in this study using a new type of double metallic plate for the adhesion splint method. The new type of double metalic plate was compared with a conventional mesh veneer plate, testing it for durability. In addition, this plate was considered for satisfactory biocompatibility. Several clinical cases using these plates were conducted. Results were as follows: 1. A new type of double metallic plate and a conventional mesh veneer plate of the same thicknesses were measured for tensile adhesive strength and shear bond strength. The strengths of both were nearly equal. 2. Water-resistance of this plate was satisfactory after long-term observation of immersion and concussion in a physiological saline solution. 3. This plate is composed of an Au-Pd-Ag alloy and was satisfactorily alloy biocompatible. 4. The fact that several periodontal patients had no trouble seemed to be attributable to this plate. Also, after setting these plates in the oral cavity of several patients, the level of plaque control was shown to be satisfactory. These results suggest that the new type of double metallic plate is useful for clinical application.journal articl
矯正用材料へのイオン・プレーティングの応用(その1) : アーチワイヤーへの応用
application/pdfThe purpose of this study was the development of esthetic orthodontic wire. In this study, the authors performed the technique of applying Ti-N Ion-plating to orthodontic stainless steel arch wire. The authors also compared Ion-plated stainless steel wire with the original one by performing a tensile test, and three pointed bending test, as well as test of surface roughness and Vicker's hardness. The conclusion is as follows: 1: A layer of Ion-plate (2μm thickness) was observed in the original stainless steel wire, but the coating layer was not observed an omission or removal with optical or electron microscopes. 2: There was no statistical difference between Ion-plated stainless steel wire and the original one in terms of tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, bending stress, proof stress and surface roughness. 3: A slight difference between Ion-plated stainless steel wire and the original one was observed in the Vicker's hardness test. These results suggest that Ti-N coating produced by means of the Ion-plating technique is effective for clinical use of orthodontic arch wire.journal articl
Purification and Characterization of an Enzyme Produced by Treponema denticola Hydrolyzing Synthetic Collagenase Substrates
application/pdfA peptidase hydrolyzing synthetic substrates of collagenase was purified from cell extract of an oral spirochete, Treponema denticola by sequential procedures including anionic ionexchange chromatography, gel filtration, and hydrophobic interaction chromatography. The purified enzyme was most active at pH 8.0 and was inhibited by p-chloromercuribenzoate or EDTA. This enzyme was active on Pz-peptide and Z-Gly-L-Pro-L-Leu-Gly-L-Pro. It was observed that Gly-L-Pro was released from the latter substrate, but proteins, including collagens, were not found to be hydrolyzed by this enzyme.journal articl
