顎関節鏡視下剥離授動術の術後成績に関する検討
application/pdfThe aim of this study is the clinical evaluation of arthroscopic surgery for temporomandibular joint closed lock. The study was comprised of the 12 TMJs of 10 patients, aged 17 to 65 years, who were treated with arthroscopic surgery after appropriate nonsurgical treatment was not successful. The success rate of the arthroscopic surgery, calculated according to the guidelines of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, was 90%. With respect to efficacy, the post-treatment score of the arthroscopic surgery, calculated according to our success criteria, showed significant improvements as compared to scores of the non-surgical treatment. Furthermore, arthroscopic surgery was suggested to be effective for the patients who have the duration of locking period of less than 12 months.journal articl

application/pdfThe fundamentals, reseach method, principles and structure of ultrasound imageapparatus ; normal ultrasound image for oral maxillofacial surgery, and the signature of basic ultrasound have been described. The areas of research revolved around disorders that occur in the soft tissue of the jaw and facial region and diseases that affect the salivary glands. Especially in the case of salivary gland diseases, ultrasound imaging can obtain information that x-ray examination can't without exposing the patient to radiation.Furthermore, unlike other methods, it is a non-surgical process. Ultrasound imaging is different from x-ray images. However, the image dose have an artifact that appears on the film. Therefore, the form and the place in which this artifact appears must be more thoroughly researched and understood before ultrasound imaging is carried out. Ultrasonography provides much more information that the other types of examinations can achieve. To obtain such precise imaging information anatomical knowledge, better skills in carrying out this method and new devices are needed. It is hoped that in the future other methods can be implemented along with x-rays.journal articl
接触型三次元デジタイザー計測システムの歯科領域への応用
application/pdfMorphological observation of dental plaster model has been studied in many methods. In measurement of dental plaster model, measurements are made using slide calipers or by taking moire photograph, with the recent improvement in advanced data analysis using computers, instruments have been developed that enable both measurement and analysis of three-dimensional data as well as statistical analysis using various techniques. However, the clinical application of these techniques in dentistry is not always easy since expensive instruments are required, their operation is too complicated, and three-dimensional measurements cannot be always performed. The present study used a newly developed contact-type three-dimensional measurement system (Space Arm, Faro Inc.) to evaluate the reliability of measurements from points previously set on dental plaster models in relation to a virtual plane, and the applicability of this instrument in dentistry. The results indicated that this contact-type three-dimensional measurement instrument satisfies the various requirements for measurement in dentistry and demonstrated objectivity, reproducibility and convenience, all of which are essential for measurement in dentistry. Therefore, it was concluded that the instrument is practical for measurements in dentistry, especially measurements relating to three-dimensional virtual planes.journal articl
歯周病原菌の病原的諸因子 : Prevotella intermediaエラスターゼ
application/pdfEven though bacterial etiology of adult periodontitis has been investigated for many years, the causative agents have not convincingly been determined. However, the follwing techniques and observations provided evidence that gram negative rods and spirochetes are implicated as etiological agents of periodontitis or, to say the least, peridontitis-related species; recent advance of anaerobic cultivation of microorganism has facilitated to count the bacterial mass in the periodontitis lesions. Analyses of immune response has greatly progressed. Experimental reproduction of periodontitis in the animals has been performed. Outlines of the pathogenic factors including colonization factors, cytotoxity, immunopathological responses, elaborated enzymes (proteases), and metabolic products of these periodontopathogens were reviewed. Furthermore, elastase produced by Prevotella intermedia which was recently characterized by our group was discussed.journal articl
下顎両側犬歯の先天性欠如を伴う上顎前突の1治験例
application/pdfA patient that had a maxillary protrusion with congenitally missing canine teeth in the mandible was successfully treated with the extraction of the maxillary first premolars. The patient's cooperation in wearing headgear appliance was highly favorable. Her profile changes were pronounced and esthetically pleasing. A review of her post-treatment records revealed an excellent esthetic and occlusal result even though the first premolars were aligned instead of the canine teeth in the mandible. Mutually protected occlusion was achieved. The dentition has been kept in the desired position for five months since the start of retention.journal articl

application/pdfIt is difficult to discriminate incisive canal cyst belongs to a so-called fissural cyst from other cystic lesions which appear in the median part of the upper jaw, and it is considered to be necessary to make a synthetic diagnosis based on the clinical symptoms, roentgenograms, surgical observations, histopathologic featurs and so on. We recently experienced a case which was diagnosed as incisive canal cyst based on the synthetic observations was observed. Here, we report the clinical course of this patient. The patient was a 34-year-old man who came to our department with his chief complaint of a swelling in the median part of the palate. Radiographic examination revealed a well-defined ovoid radiolucent areas in the corresponding to the incisive foramen. On October 12, the extirpation of the cyst was carried out under intravenous sedation. Operative finding showed that the adhesion of the cyst to nasopalatine handle. Histopathologically, the lesion consisted of fibrous connective tissue lined chiefly with by sauamous epithelium and oartlv with ciliated epithelium.journal articl
