Comparison between Effects of Stannous Chloride and Stannic Chloride on the Transmitter Release from Mouse Motor Nerve Terminals
application/pdfStannous chloride (SnCl_2) is thought to facilitate the transmitter release from the motor nerve terminals. Stannous ions tend to become oxidized to stannic ions (Sn^) in the presence of water and oxygen. Therefore, the results seen with SnCl_2 until now might reflect the properties of Sn^. In the present study, to ascertain whether SnCl_2 facilitates the transmitter release from mouse motor nerve terminals, we compared the effects of stannic chloride (SnCl_4) on the miniature endplate potential (m. e. p. p.) frequency and the quantal content of the endplate potential (e. p. p.) with those of SnCl_2. We statistically analyzed the mean values of the differences of SnCl_2 (30μM) from its control and of SnCl_4 (30μM) from its control. There were significant differences between the two, both in the m. e. p. p. frequency and in the quantal content. The results obtained demonstrate that the actions of Sn^ are not involved in the effects shown by SnCl_2. We conclude that SnCl_2 facilitates the transmitter release from mouse motor nerve terminals.journal articl
局所麻酔注射の疼痛軽減に関する研究 : 歯科用注射針の太さと注射時疼痛との関連
application/pdfParticularly in developmentally disabled individuals and young infants, it is very important to reduce the pain of local anesthetic injection to the greatest possible extent, and it is reported that such pain might be reduced by using topical anesthetics and nitrous oxide. However, a less painful injection technique is still needed for anxious dental patients. The authors investigated the effect of needle diameter on the perceived pain levels in 50 healthy adult volunteers. The 27-G (diameter, 0.42mm) needle which is typically used in dental treatment was compared with a 31-G (0.28mm) needle. The subjects were asked to indicate the subjective pain level using a visual analogue scale (VAS: 0~100) at the two time points of needle penetration into the oral mucosa and of infiltration into the submucosa tissue. The results indicated that, although the 31-G needle caused less subjective pain than the 27-G needle, the difference was not significant.journal articl
親水性の新しい光重合型レジンの特性と象牙細管封鎖性
application/pdfA new light-cured hydrophilic resin (hydroresin) containing sodium methacrylate was designed and prepared. This resin shows pH value near neutral, desirable wettability for application to the human enamel surface, and feasible curing of less than 40 sec under visible light irradiation. The resin appropriately swelled in water to volumetrically expand and shows excellent tensile bond strength with dentin. Scanning electron micrographs clearly revealed 10 to 20μm resin tags extending into dentinal tubules and tight adhesion at the interface. The results of this study indicate that the hydroresin exhibits high capacity for sealing dentinal tubules and inhibiting the microleakage through its swelling and volumetric expansion at the resin-dentin interface.journal articl
Isolation and Biological Properties of Oral Spirochete, Treponema denticola
application/pdfSpirochetes were isolated from the lesions of periodontitis patients, identified them as Treponema denticola and their properties were investigated. These strains required serum for growth and demonstrated low sugar fermentation activity. Indole, hydrogen sulfide, acetic acid, propionic acid and butyric acid were detected in the metabolites of all the isolates. Proteases, esterase and neuraminidase were also produced by the isolates, of which, proteolytic enzymes appeared to contain at least three different kinds. These proteases were possible to separate from each other by column chromatography.journal articl
下顎第三大臼歯部にみられた過剰歯の1例
application/pdfAmora the various anomalies of thteeth, supernumerary impacted teeth in a mandibular molaregion is relativelyrare. Plain radiography is useful in its early detection, and the panoramic radiography in particular plays a great role in diagnosis as it allows full-mouth examination. We encountered a patient with supernumerary teeth in the upper part of a folliculus dentis in the third mandibular molarr region. In this report, we describe this case along with the radiologic findings, in addition to presenting a brief review of the literature.journal articl
超音波画像診断が有用であった左側顎下部膿瘍の1例
application/pdfWe uncountered a patient with a submandibular abscess in whom diagnostic imaging with computed tomographic scanning was difficult. Ultrasonography was relatively more useful for this purpose as it revealed the abscess in the left submandibluar region. In this report, we describe the features in this case along with the diagnostic imaging findings.journal articl
Avascular Necrosis of the Mandibular Condyle Associated with Intensive Steroid Therapy : Case Report
application/pdfAvascular necrosis or osteonecrosis has been discussed as a possible cause of condylar degeneration and pain. Avascular necrosis is a degenerative disease originates from diminished blood flow in the bone marrow. Avascular necrosis is seen in relationship with idiopathic, corticosteroids, alcoholism, sickle cell disease, pregnancy, and Caisson's disease. Corticosteroid has been suggested to be an etiologic factor affecting bone organization, fat metabolism, and blood vessel. Indeed, corticosteroid can affect the bilateral joints of the shoulder, hip, and knee. However, the occurrence of the avascular necrosis of in the temporomandibular joint alone has not been reported. The clinical, laboratory, radiographic, and imagings features of a case of the condylar process of the mandible are presented.journal articl
多数歯にわたる部分的無歯症の2症例
application/pdfTwo cases of partial anodontia affecting many permanent teeth are reported. In the first case, an 18-year-6 month old male showed eight congenitally missing teeth: 5 752 1257 In the second case, a 15-year-old male showed ten congenitally missing teeth: 543 54 345 45 In the first case, partial anodontia had occurred exclusively in the male family members of three consecutive generations (the patient, his father, and his grandfather on the paternal side). Therefore, the disease is thought have been transmitted by dominant autosomal inheritance. In the second case, the patient's sister also suffers from congenital missing permanent teeth. Thus, it is thought that genetic factors play a role in the onset of the disease in both of these cases. The patient in the first case is currently using a removable space maintainer. However, a permanent prosthesis will be used in the future. In the second case, deciduous teeth remain while permanent teeth are missing. Even though there are no interproximal distance spaces now, when the deciduous teeth fall out due to physiological resorption, it will be necessary to perform prosthetic treatment.journal articl
