Profitability Analysis of Dairy Cattle Farming of Village Cooperative Members in Semarang Regency
The study aimed to analyze the profitability of dairy cattle business and the factors that affect the level of profitability of dairy cattle farming at Koperasi Unit Desa (KUD) members in Semarang Regency. The research method used survey method. Samples of KUD were selected by purposive sampling . The selected KUDs were KUD Getasan, KUD Sumber Karya, and KUD Mekar Ungaran. From each KUD, three dairy cow farmer group (KTT) were selected. Ten farmers of each KTT, as samples, were withdrew randomly giving total number of 90 samples. The data were analyzed statistically using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression model. In this model, the dependent variable was profitability (Y), while the independent variables consisted of the number of lactating cows (x1), the investment value (x2), the milk price (x3), livestock raising experience (x4), milk production (x5), and the cost of concentrate feed (x6). The results showed that the dairy cattle business was profitable and viable. The average profitability of dairy cows was 60.50% and indicating worth to be developed. Multiple regression analysis indicated tha the number of cows (x1), the investment value (x2), the milk price (x3), the livestock raising experience (x4), the milk production (x5), and the cost of feed concentrate (x6) simultaneously had a significant (p<0,01) impact on the profitability of the business. The coefficient of determination (R2) was 0.574 meaning that those factors can explain the level of profitability of 57.40%, and the remaining 42.60% was influenced by other factors outside the model
An Analysis of the Effect of Marketing Mix Policy towards the Increase of Canned Meat Sales Volume in PT. Pelita Makmur Makassar
The aim of the research was to find out the effect of marketing mix policy towards the increase of canned meat sales volume at PT. Pelita Makmur Makassar. This research was carried out within two months, from March to April 2010 at PT. Pelita Makmur Makassar. Data were collected using observation and interview method. Data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis models. At 200 gram size, price and distribution significantly affected the sales of canned meat, while the product inventory and promotion did not significant affect the sales of canned meat. In the 340 gram size, product inventory and price significantly affected the sales of canned meat, while promotion and distribution had no significant effects on the sales of canned meat. In conclusion, product inventory, price, promotion, and distribution gives significant effect on sales of canned meat at PT. Pelita Makmur Makassar
Effect Complete Feed Containing Starch Tubers of Different Varieties of Banana Plants on pH, NH3 and VFA of Kacang Goat
The purpose of this study was to examine digestibility of complete feed containing starch tubers from different varieties of banana plants. The experiment was run according to completely randomized design with six treatments of complete feed rations containing starch tubers of different banana varieties (control/without tubers and five different banana starch tubers: ambon, kepok, batu, susu, and raja) and three replication for each treatment. The results showed that treatment of complete feed did not significantly affect (P>0.05) ruminal NH3 produced. However the treatment of complete feed significantly affected (P<0.05) rumen fluid pH. Furthermore, production of individual volatile fatty acids/VFA (asetat, propionat, and butirat) was significantly (P<0.05) different among the treatments. Channels, Margin and Profit Beef Cattle Marketing Agencies from Bone District To Makassar City
This study aimed to determine the channel marketing types, margin and profit of beef cattle marketing agency from Bone Regency to Makassar. The population of the study covered all beef cattle marketing agencies of Bone Regency to Makassar. Determination of the samples was done by snowball sampling method. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews. Data were then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that there were two forms of beef cattle marketing channel from Bone District to Makassar, the first channel: farmers to traders and then to the inter-area merchant and next to the slaughterhouse businessman, the second channel: farmers to inter-regional traders and next businessmen to the slaughterhouse. The marketing agency that received the largest margin was the cattle traders on the second channel, followed by the inter area cattle traders in the first channel, and the lowest was for the collector. However, the marketing agency that got the most benefit was the collector traders, followed by the inter area traders of the second channel, and the lowest was for inter area traders of the channel I. The longer the beef cattle marketing channel, the greater the margin and profits. The margin and Profit of marketing channel I (two levels) were much greater than those of marketing channel II (one level)
IN VITRO PHOSPHORUS SOLUBILITY TEST OF DIFFERENT SOURCES OF PHOSPHORUS
The solubility of P from different P supplements was measured with in vitro procedures, using three different tests, which were water solubility, citric acid solubility and acid (0.1M HCl) solubility. Water solubility and citrate solubility were common tests used by the fertiliser industry and acid solubility was a new test developed to mimic conditions within the digestive tract. There were five samples used: Lomon MDCP, Duchess RP, Kynofos, meat meal and MSOP. A separate test was done with the acid solubility test to examine the effect of time of incubation on inorganic P solubilised. The highest total P (%) was with Lomon MDCP (21.6%) and the lowest was in meat meal (5.5%). Duchess RP and meat meal had lowest solubility for all three tests. The statistical analysis showed that solubility depended on source of P and type of solution, with a significant interaction between P sources and type of solution (P<0.001). Solubility in 0.1M HCl increased with time incubated in all samples. Duchess RP and Meat Meal had lowest solubility at all time points but had reached 74 and 83% solubility respectively at 1 hr of incubation. pH value of all samples in acid solution ranged from 1.37 – 1.48. Solubility depended on source of P and time of incubation in 0.1M HCl with a significant interaction between P sources and time of incubation (P<0.001). The results indicated that all of the P sources used in this experiment were highly solubilised in dilute acid (0.1 M HCl) and so can be used as P supplements for animals if it is assumed that the 0.1 M HCl test mimics conditions within the digestive tract
Rentability of Livestock Bussiness of Batur Sheep at Banjarnegara Regency
This research aimed to evaluate the profit and rentability of livestock business of Batur sheep at Banjarnegara Regency. The research was carried out using survey method involving 120 Batur sheep breeder as samples. The data used in this study were primary and secondary data.The data were analyzed descriptively. The research results indicated that average of production cost was IDR. 3,574,776.66; the average income was IDR. 6,994,654.17; the profit was IDR. 3,419,877.51; and the average of financial capital was IDR. 8,985,771.94, giving the rentabilityof business to be 38.08%. The average age of Batur sheep breeder was between 31 and 40 years old; the level of education was mostly elementary school, which was as much as 79.17%. The occupancy of the breeder was dominated by farmer, which was as high as 80.83%. The percentage of breeders having average farming experience between 6-10 years was around 54.17%
Determination of tannin and saponin dosage for defaunation improvement feed fermentability
The research was conducted to evaluate the effect of addition of tannin, saponin or combination of tannin and saponin to the concentrate of the ration on the microbial population and fermentability of feed in vitro and to assess the best dosage of uses. The research was arranged according to completely randomized design with four treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were ration without tannin and saponin (T0), ration with 1.2% saponin (T1), ration with 0.5% tannin and 0.9% saponin (T2), ration with 1% tannin and 0.6% saponin, (T3), ration with 1.5% tannin and saponin 0.3% (T4) and ration with 2% tannin and 0% saponin. the results of the experiment showed that the addition of the tannin, saponin or their combination altered microbial population in the rumen. Protozoas population decreased significantly whereas bacterial population was increased. NH3 production increased while ratio of acetaic to propionic acid tended to decrease. Total gas production increased 62.59-69.35 ml/200 mg of dry matter. The addition of 1% tannin and 0.6 % saponin shows the best effect to control protozoa population and feed fermentability in the rumen

Improvement of Crude Protein and Crude Fiber Digestibility of fermented Product of palm kernel cake and rice bran mixture for Broiler
The research objective was to compare crude protein and crude fat digestibility of fermented product of palm kernel cake (80%) and rice bran (20%) mixture with those of unfermented product mixture. Student-t test was applied to determine the difference between the two treatments, while crude protein and crude fat digestibility were determined following the procedure of Coen et al. (1996). The results of the study showed that the crude protein digestibility of fermented product was higher (P<0.05) than that of unfermented product (84.96±2.43% vs 65.60±2.39%) or increased by 19.36%. The average crude fat digestibility increased (P<0.05), from 69.22±3.14% in the unfermented product to 85.08±2.04% in the fermented product or increased by 15.86%. In conclusion, process of fermentation significantly improved nutritive value of mixture of palm kernel oil (80%) and rice brand (20%) for broiler in terms of higher crude protein and crude fat digestibility
Test on Emerita analoga as Cholesterol Reducing Agent on Mus musculus BALB/C
A reasonable effort to reduce cholesterol content of meat could be done by ration manipulation. Sea animals are known having high free fatty acid of omega 3 and 6 series. These nutrients could reduce meat cholesterol level if included in ration. The study aimed to reveal the effect of various level of sand crab (Emerita analoga) powder supplemented in ration on performances and meat cholesterol level of Mus musculus balb/c mouse. Thirty two mice, consisted of 16 male and 16 female of a 28-day old, were fed on one of four different rations with four replications in a factorial arrangement according to completely randomized design. The rations contained isoprotein and isoenergy but with different level of sand crab powder, i.e. 0, 12.5, 25, and 37.5% of the ration dry matter. The mice were treated for five weeks and each week body weight or orts was measured. At the end of experimental period, the mice were slaughtered and carcassed and each of the right leg was sampled for meat cholesterol analysis. The data collected were analyzed with analyzes of variance and Duncan’s multiple range test was applied to separate the different means of each treatment. In addition, a polynomial orthogonal regression was applied to predict optimal level of sand crab supplementation. Result of the study revealed that experimental ration affected (P<0.05) feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, and meat cholesterol level. Moreover, feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion were affected (P<0.01) by sex of the mouse. Meanwhile, meat cholesterol level was not affected by sex. The experimental rations containing 25% of sand crab powder resulted in the best performances of the mouse and the optimal level predicted from polynomial graph was 23.02%
