    No full text
Subjective well-being is a crucial indicator of an individual's quality of life, particularly during middle adulthood a developmental stage marked by increased vulnerability to psychological stress due to life transitions. This study aims to examine the effect of social support on subjective well-being among middle-aged adults, employing a mediation model in which self-esteem functions as the mediating variable. Utilizing a quantitative approach with path analysis, data were collected from 384 middle-aged individuals aged 40–60 years residing in DKI Jakarta, selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that social support has a significant impact on subjective well-being, both directly and indirectly through the mediation of self-esteem. These results underscore the critical role of self-esteem in mediating the relationship between social support and subjective well-being during middle adulthood

Revisiting posttraumatic growth theory: A narrative review integrating individual, collective, and cultural dimensions

    No full text
Posttraumatic Growth (PTG) has long been viewed as an individual psychological process shaped by cognitive and emotional struggle after trauma. However, recent scholarship highlights the importance of social, communal, and cultural factors that remain underrepresented in earlier reviews. This study follows a narrative review methodology with purposive sampling that synthesizes peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 to examine how PTG theory has expanded beyond individual transformation. A structured search across major databases resulted in 20 studies meeting purposive inclusion criteria. Findings reveal two converging trends: the persistence of individual-centric PTG models and the growing recognition of collective and cultural pathways, such as social support, shared rituals, and culturally grounded meaning-making. Integrating these strands, this review proposes a multilayered ecological model positioning individual, relational, collective, and cultural dimensions of PTG. The review underscores the need for culturally sensitive PTG frameworks and community-based interventions, offering a more inclusive theoretical foundation for understanding trauma recovery

    No full text
This study aims to analyze the relationship between workplace spirituality and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among healthcare professionals in Christian faith-based hospitals. A quantitative research design was employed using a total sampling technique involving 113 full-time employees. The workplace spirituality scale was developed based on Milliman’s conceptualization, encompassing three dimensions meaningful work, sense of community, and alignment with organizational values (α = 0.956). The OCB scale was constructed following Organ’s framework, consisting of five dimensions: altruism, conscientiousness, sportsmanship, courtesy, and civic virtue (α = 0.940). Pearson correlation analysis revealed a very strong and significant relationship between workplace spirituality and OCB (r = 0.961; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that workplace spirituality plays a critical role in enhancing organizational citizenship behavior among healthcare professionals

    No full text
In 2023, Indonesia reported approximately 7.86 million unemployed individuals, with a notably low employment absorption rate among university graduates. One contributing factor to this issue is the insufficient level of job readiness among graduates, which hinders their ability to secure employment. This study aims to examine the extent to which work motivation and social support predict job readiness among final-year students at Ahmad Dahlan University. The research involved 100 participants selected through purposive sampling, a form of non-probability sampling. A quantitative research approach was employed, utilizing validated scales to measure job readiness, work motivation, and social support. Content validity was established through expert judgment. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression via SPSS version 16.0. The findings indicate that work motivation and social support collectively predict job readiness. However, while work motivation significantly contributes to job readiness, social support does not show a statistically significant effect. These results underscore the crucial role of internal factors particularly individual motivation in enhancing the job readiness of final-year students as they transition into the workforce, particularly within the context of the Indonesian labor market

    No full text
This study investigates the extent to which Islamic creed (ʿAqīdah) and social skills are associated with students’ emotional well-being. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, the study involved 197 students aged 15–19 years from a state-funded Islamic secondary school. Participants were selected through cluster random sampling. Three validated instruments were employed: the Emotional Well-Being Scale based on Keyes’ conceptual framework (α = 0.803), the Islamic Creed Scale adapted from Al-Banna’s model (α = 0.893), and the RECS Social Skills Scale developed by Mantzouranis et al. (α = 0.896). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results revealed that Islamic creed and social skills jointly demonstrated a significant positive relationship with emotional well-being (p = 0.006). Further analysis showed that Islamic creed independently had a significant positive association with emotional well-being (p = 0.005), whereas social skills did not show a statistically significant effect (p = 0.142). These findings highlight the central role of religious belief in supporting adolescents' emotional well-being within faith-based educational contexts

Many university students encounter academic challenges that may lead to elevated levels of stress and anxiety, potentially indicating low psychological well-being. This study aims to examine the relationship between gratitude and social support with psychological well-being among university students. A total of 120 participants were selected using a cluster random sampling technique. The study employed a correlational quantitative research design, utilizing three standardized instruments: the Gratitude Scale, the Social Support Scale, and the Psychological Well-Being Scale. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 27.0. The primary hypothesis testing revealed a significant correlation, with a coefficient of determination R = 0.795 and p = 0.000 (p < 0.01), indicating a strong and statistically significant relationship between gratitude, social support, and psychological well-being. For the first sub-hypothesis, the partial correlation coefficient was 0.327 with a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.01) and a beta value of 0.380, suggesting a significant positive relationship between gratitude and psychological well-being. The second sub-hypothesis showed a partial correlation coefficient of 0.380, a significance level of p = 0.000 (p < 0.01), and a beta value of 0.451, indicating a significant positive relationship between social support and psychological well-being. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that gratitude and social support collectively contribute to 63.2% of the variance in psychological well-being. These results underscore the importance of fostering gratitude and enhancing social support among university students to promote greater psychological well-being

A literature review on sexual violence by authority figures and its psychological impact on women and children

    No full text
Sexual violence perpetrated by authority figures such as teachers, lecturers, religious leaders, medical professionals, and law enforcement officers constitutes a severe violation of human rights with profound psychological consequences, particularly for women and children. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) methodology to analyze 11 national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2024. The aim of this review is to explore the dynamics of power relations, the psychological impact on survivors, barriers to recovery, and intervention strategies. Findings reveal that unequal power relations between perpetrators and victims significantly contribute to the occurrence of sexual violence and hinder the recovery process. Survivors frequently experience severe psychological symptoms, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, dissociation, and developmental disturbances especially in children. Recovery barriers include societal stigma, limited legal support, and the normalization of the perpetrator's authority. Effective recovery strategies identified include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), emotional support from family, and community-based approaches. This study highlights the urgent need for integrated, trauma-informed interventions and the strengthening of legal protection systems to break the cycle of sexual violence perpetrated by authority figures

Effectiveness of brief mindfulness intervention in reducing psychological distress among family caregivers of cancer patients

    No full text
Family caregivers are particularly vulnerable to psychological distress due to the cumulative burden of caregiving responsibilities and the challenges of balancing their own personal needs. Mindfulness-based approaches have been widely recognized as promising strategies for alleviating psychological distress. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a Brief Mindfulness Intervention (BMI) in reducing psychological distress among family caregivers of breast cancer patients. A quasi-experimental design was employed, and purposive sampling was used to recruit 30 family caregivers (15 in the intervention group and 15 in the control group). The intervention consisted of a single 90-minute session, and psychological distress was assessed using the DASS-21. The findings indicated significant reductions in depressive symptoms, anxiety, and stress following the BMI (depression: p = 0.002; anxiety: p = 0.000; stress: p = 0.000). Cohen’s d effect size demonstrated that BMI produced substantial effects, particularly on anxiety and stress (depression: d = 0.43338; anxiety: d = 1.6170; stress: d = 1.1240). These results suggest that BMI may serve as a feasible and preliminary coping strategy for mitigating psychological distress among family caregivers facing emotionally demanding caregiving situations
