    Callyspongia aerizusa is one of the sponge species that is spread across the Indonesian marine waters and rich in bioactive compounds such as secondary metabolites that is used in medicine field as antibacterial but still not widely used by the people. The improvement of bacteria resistant has been a serious problem in the medicine field, therefore there should be an improvement of a new antibiotic medicine from natural ingredients for the healt improvement. This research aims to find the activity of extracts of sponge Callyspongia aerizusa from the waters of Poopoh Village, Minahasa Regency against the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The growth of bacterial is tested by disc diffusion Kirby Bauer method and by observing the value of generated inhibition zone. From the result of the research, the extracts of Callyspongia aerizusa sponge has clear zone against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria of 8 mm in the concentration of 250 µg/disc, and the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria has 9 mm in the concentration of 250 µg/disc which categorized as medium. It can be concluded that the Callyspongia aerizusa sponge has an metabolite compound with wide spectrum activity that can hinder the growth of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteri

    Halimeda opuntia is a genus of seaweed from the Chlorophyta division that contains bioactive compounds that can be utilized in various fields, especially in medicine. This study was conducted with the aim of determining the antibacterial activity of Halimeda opuntia algae extracts obtained from coastal waters of Poopoh Village, Tombariri District, Minahasa Regency against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Samples were extracted by maceration method using 95% ethanol solvent. Antibacterial activity testing was conducted using the Kirby and Bauer Disc Diffusion method. The results showed that the average diameter of the inhibition zone against Pseudomonas aeruginosa test bacteria was 6.83 mm and for Staphylococcus aureus test bacteria was 8.58 mm, the inhibition zone that arose against these two bacteria was included in the medium inhibition category. Through this study, it can be concluded that ethanol extract has antibacterial activity against test bacteria, especially on Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.   Keywords: Algae, Halimeda opuntia, antibacterial activity, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus &nbsp

    Kejadian resistensi antibiotik berdampak pada kegagalan pengobatan penyakit infeksi yang dapat berujung pada kematian. Dengan adanya kegagalan pada pengobatan infeksi maka pemilihan terapi akan terbatas, sehingga diperlukan penelusuran terhadap senyawa baru yang berpotensi sebagai antibakteri. Indonesia memiliki biota laut yang sangat melimpah salah satunya spons yang kaya akan senyawa bioaktif yang berpotensi dikembangkan dalam bidang pengobatan sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji potensi antibakteri dari ekstrak spons Stylissa carteri terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus dan Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Proses maserasi menggunakan etanol 95% sebagai pelarut. Hasil maserat selanjutnya di evaporasi menggunakan suhu 40°C. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi agar (Disc Diffusion Kirby Bauer Method). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil pengukuran rata-rata diameter zona hambat dari ekstrak spons Stylissa carteri pada bakteri Staphylococcus aureus adalah 7,75 mm dan pada bakteri Pseudomonas aeruginosa dengan nilai sebesar 7,25 mm. Dari hasil pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak spons Stylissa carteri menunjukkan adanya aktivitas antibakteri dengan kategori sedang terhadap bakteri uji.     Self-medication for cough symptoms is an act of treating all cough complaints/symptoms in oneself using simple medicines that are obtained without a doctor's advice. This research was conducted using a descriptive analytic survey method with a cross sectional design by distributing questionnaires to the Allandrew Housing community. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of public knowledge about self-medication for cough symptoms and to find out the pattern of self-medication in the Allandrew Housing community. Based on research on 92 respondents, it showed that 90.22% of respondents were in the good category regarding knowledge about what self-medication was, the level of knowledge with the category was lacking in knowing the difference between expectorant and intuitive drugs with a proportion of 45.65% and the good category in distinguishing the types of cough medicines consumed with the proportion of 73.91%. The pattern of self-medication in this study is that people directly buy drugs at pharmacies with a proportion of 51.09% and choose chemical drugs for self-medication with a proportion of 56.52%.   Key words: Self-medication, Cough, Community

    PENGENDALIAN PERSEDIAAN OBAT DENGAN METODE EOQ DAN ROP DI RSUD KOTAMOBAGU

    Instalasi Farmasi RSUD Kotamobagu sering terjadi kekosongan obat dikarenakan pemesanan obat yang dilakukan instalasi hanya mengikuti jumlah pesanan 3 bulan sebelumnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah pemesanan optimum dan waktu pemesanan kembali obat dengan perhitungan EOQ dan ROP di Instalasi Farmasi RSUD Kotamobagu. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Data primer diperoleh dari hasil wawancara dengan petugas instalasi farmasi dan data sekunder berupa data obat fast moving yang ada di instalasi farmasi RSUD Kotamobagu selama bulan Januari-Desember 2023. Hasil penelitian dari perhitungan EOQ dan ROP dari 22 obat mendapatkan hasil yang bervariasi tergantung tingkat pemakaian, dan biaya penyimpananya.Dari 22 jenis obat fast moving jumlah pemesanan optimum mulai dari 36-7.071 unit untuk sekali pemesanan. Titik pemesanan kembali atau waktu pemesanan kembali dengan mempertimbangkan safety stock mulai dari 40-7.326 unit jumlah tersebut adalah titik untuk dilakukannya pemesanan kembali agar terhindar dari kekurangan stok.   Kata Kunci: Pengendalian persediaan obat, Economic order quantity (EOQ), Reorder Point (ROP)   &nbsp

    Uji Aktivitas Antioksidan Ekstrak Etanol Lissoclinum patella Yang Diperoleh Dari Pantai Parentek Kabupaten Minahasa

    Tunicates are one of the marine organisms that have the potential to produce secondary metabolite compounds that have many benefits. One of the functions of secondary metabolites is as antioxidants. Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit the oxidation process caused by free radicals. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract produced by Lissoclinum patella using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method obtained from Parentek Beach, Minahasa Regency. This research is a laboratory experiment with maceration method using 95% ethanol solvent. Antioxidant testing using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method with 5 series of sample concentrations (20, 40, 60, 80, 100 ppm) measured using UV-Vis spectrophotometer with absorbance value measured at 517 nm wavelength. The results of the study obtained the average percent inhibition value obtained at concentrations of 20, 40, 60, 80, 100 ppm respectively were 48.06%, 56.52%, 62.27%, 63.80%, 68.03%.     Diabetes mellitus is a global chronic disease with more than 500 million patientes. Leilem leaf is an endemic plant of North Sulawesi from the genus Clerodendrum which is believed potentially antidiabetic. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of leilem leaf on blood glucose levels and body weight of male white rats. The extraction of leilem leaves using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. This study used the pretest posttest control group design method with 5 groups, namely group I positive control of metformin, group II negative control of 0.5% Na-CMC, group III, IV, and V were extract doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kgBW. All groups were induced with 120 mg/kg BW of alloxan. The results showed that leilem leaf extract had a significant effect (Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) 0.001) on rats blood glucose levels with the best percentage in group V extract dose of 400 mg/kgBW and had no significant effect on body weight

    Sarcophyton sp. contain bioactive compounds that are efficacious as antioxidants. The purpose of this research is to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract produced by Sarcophyton sp. By extraction using maceration method with 95% ethanol solvent and testing using DPPH (1,1- diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) method. The results of data analysis of % inhibition obtained were 47.09% (20 ppm), 54.8% (40 ppm), 56.7% (60 ppm), 60.6% (80 ppm) and 62.4% (100 ppm). The ethanol extract of Sarcophyton sp. obtained from Parentek Beach, Minahasa Regency has the highest antioxidant activity at a concentration of 100 ppm which is 62.4%.

    Diabetes Mellitus (DM) merupakan salah satu gangguan metabolik yang terjadi karena defisiensi sekresi insulin, kerusakan sel β pankreas atau resistensi insulin yang secara progresif mampu menyebabkan komplikasi mikrovaskuler maupun makrovaskuler. Jumlah kasus DM yang terus meningkat menjadi hal yang harus diperhatikan. Keberhasilan terapi pada pasien DM berkaitan dengan rasionalitas pengobatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran penggunaan obat antidiabetes dan rasionalitas pengobatan terkait tepat indikasi, tepat obat dan tepat dosis pada pasien DM tipe 2 rawat jalan di salah satu rumah sakit swasta di Kabupaten Jember periode Oktober-Desember 2022. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian non ekperimental dengan mengambil data rekam medis yang dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dari 45 pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi, terapi obat antidiabetes yang paling banyak digunakan pada pasien DM tipe 2 rawat jalan di salah satu Rumah Sakit di Kabupaten Jember periode Oktober-Desember 2022 adalah glimepiride sebanyak 15 orang (33.3%). Rasionalitas pengobatan terkait tepat indikasi adalah 100%, tepat obat adalah 97,8% dan tepat dosis adalah 91,1%. Kata kunci: Diabetes Mellitus, evaluasi, rasionalitas pengobata

    Daun Jagung (Zea mays L.) memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan saponin yang bersifat sebagai antibakteri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji antibakteri sediaan masker gel peel-off ekstrak etanol daun Jagung terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermis serta membuktikan sediaan yang berkualitas berdasarkan parameter uji sifat fisik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimental laboratorium, formula sediaan masker gel peel-off ekstrak etanol daun Jagung dibuat dengan variasi konsentrasi 2, 4, dan 6%. Ekstrak daun Jagung diperoleh dengan cara maserasi dengan menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Pada pengujian antibakteri menggunakan metode sumuran. Diameter zona hambat paling besar yang ditimbulkan oleh sediaan masker gel peel-off pada konsentrasi 6% dengan diameter zona hambat sebesar 2,83 mm dan kemampuan daya hambat dikategorikan lemah. Pada uji fisik sediaan memenuhi persyaratan uji. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa sediaan masker gel peel-off ekstrak etanol daun jagung memenuhi parameter uji fisik dan memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang lemah
