Natural disasters can negatively affect life because they cause damage. Therefore, students have to be equipped with knowledge regarding them. One way is to use a student worksheet based on a scientific approach to waves and disasters. This research aimed to measure the validity levels of the student worksheet based on the developed scientific approach. According to Thiagarajan, the research and development method with the 4D development model. However, the development stage was narrowed down by defining, designing, and developing. These steps were done because this research is limited by energy, time, and cost and focused on measuring product validity; as a result, the dissemination stage was not conducted. The instrument used in this research was validation sheets filled out by two expert lecturers and three science teachers. The research results showed that the validity level of the student worksheet based on a scientific approach oriented to critical thinking skills on wave and disaster themes obtained a percentage of 83.62%, with very valid criteria. As a result, the student worksheet based on the scientific approach of the wave and disaster theme can be tested in science learning to foster students' critical thinking skills

THE POTENTIAL USE OF ANTI-NUTRITIONAL COMPOUNDS OF GADUNG TUBERS AS BIOPESTICIDES

The use of gadung (Discorea hispida dennst.) tubers as food source is not seen as an attractive option due to dioscorine and cyanide anti-nutritional compounds contained therein. The presence of dioscorine and cyanide compounds makes gadung tubers known as poisonous food. Although the community has known its poisonous nature, the use of gadung tubers as natural pesticides (biopesticides) is not commonly known by the community. Using gadung tubers as biopesticides provides solution to unanswered problems caused by chemical pesticides. This article seeks to describe the potential use of anti-nutritional compounds of gadung tubers as biopesticides based on literature reviews. Various literature related to anti-nutritional compounds contained in gadung tubers and their use as biopesticides have been analyzed in depth. The literature review results show that dioscorine and cyanide anti-nutritional compounds are toxic and can be used as biopesticides. The effectiveness of gadung tubers on various agricultural pests depends entirely on the concentration of gadung tubers used. The use of gadung tubers as biopesticides is needed to increase and maintain the productivity of agricultural land in addition to preserving natural resources

THE INFLUENCE OF NaCl SOLUTION FLOW RATE ON ION ABSORPTION OF CAPACITIVE ELECTRIC CARBON PLATE

Research on desalination technology in seawater is being developed. This is because sea water has not been used optimally to meet community needs. One of the rapidly developing desalination systems is desalination technology using a capacitive carbon plate. The development of this desalination system technology is carried out using electrode plates made of carbon. These plates are capable of absorbing salt ions through the porous surface. The amount of ion absorbed is determined by the pore surface structure of the plate, the salt flow rate, the number of plates used, the applied voltage and other factors. The salt flow rate between the carbon plates determines the speed of the salt ions to reach the smallest pores on each plate surface. For this reason, this article has conducted research by testing the variation in the flow rate of NaCl solution to the amount of salt ions absorbed on the carbon plate
