    Visualization of centimeter-sized flow fields with the background oriented Schlieren method

    The phenomena with transparent media need some visualization techniques to capture their details for further analysis. In this study the background oriented Schlieren method was applied to some centimeter-sized flow field to visualize the transparent objects according to the difference of their refraction indices. The background oriented Schlieren method requires only a camera and a background with dots or stripes, and it is simple and inexpensive method in comparison with the traditional Schlieren method, which needs precise coordination of optical elements with costly lens and mirrors. The background oriented Schlieren method was applied to visualization of the centimeter-sized flow field and its potential in the sub-centimeter field was confirmed.departmental bulletin pape

    Proposal for a human interface for operating a robot car

    In recent years, the construction and logistics industries have been facing a serious shortage of skilled operators due to the declining birthrate and aging population. Particularly for entry-level operators, there is a growing demand for robots and software to ease technical burdens. While remote operation and automation technologies are being introduced, manual operation remains more efficient in certain situations requiring precise work and flexible site-specific responses. This technological evolution parallels the shift in automobile driving, from manual transmission (MT) to automatic transmission (AT), and ultimately to fully automated systems. Similarly, construction machinery and trucks benefit from a hybrid approach, combining partial automation with manual operation to meet diverse needs effectively.
