Improvements for Dome-type Solar Thermal Power Generation Device
We have been researching renewable energy. We especially think thermal power generation has a lot of potential because the sun is shining toward us every day and supplies great thermal power for us. There is no way we do not utilize such energy. Then we started to establish solar thermal power generation device. In the conventional study, we could fabricate the solar power generation device with a cone-shaped solar inlet area. In this study, a solar tracking device was needed to capture sunlight. Then we developed a new thermal power generator named Dome-type solar thermal power generator that did not require a tracking device. At first, we fabricated a Dome-type solar thermal power generator. As a result of the measurement, it was possible to confirm the area power generation efficiency, which was double that of the conventional cone-shaped power generation device. As the next step, the dome part was reviewed for further generating power. We redesigned the dome material and surface. We examined many kinds of domes and we could select the best dome with the highest value of the product of heat collection coefficient and heat retention coefficient.departmental bulletin pape
Calculation of finite temperature electrical resistance by KKR-CPA method
The Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker (KKR) method combined with the coherent potential approximation (CPA) is a powerful tool for calculating single-particle properties of disordered alloys. We have extended this method to calculate the finite temperature transport properties of solids. The electrical conduction form is based on the Kubo-Greenwood formula. The main goal of this work is to develop a practical first-principles scheme that can calculate the electrical conductivity of solids at finite temperatures, including the effects of electron-phonon scattering.departmental bulletin pape
Preliminary Testing of Measurement Equipment Introduced in the Startup Education Environment Development Project at Technical Colleges
The Startup Education Environment Development Project for technical colleges selected 56 initiatives, including our institution. At Kindai University Technical College, equipment and furnishings necessary for entrepreneurship education were procured based on input from each course, and the "Kindai University Technical College Entrepreneurial Workshop" was established on November 10, 2023. To provide evidence ensuring the safety of newly developed materials by students, we introduced a microcalorimeter (TAM IV: Thermal Activity Monitor IV). This instrument detects minute thermal changes caused by slight material degradation under various conditions. Through reaction kinetics analysis, it enables the prediction of material degradation rates and potential risks, such as ignition caused by heat accumulation, making it critical for ensuring material stability. In this study, we conducted preliminary degradation tests on biocoke provided by the Kindai University Biocoke Research Institute to familiarize ourselves with the instrument and validate its utility. Given the limited reports on the thermal behavior of biocoke during long-term storage, we measured its thermal behavior at temperatures ranging from 298.15 K to 363.15 K. From the heat flow curves obtained, reaction rate constants were determined, and activation energy was calculated based on their temperature dependence.departmental bulletin pape
