Relationship between Corporate Women Directors, Carbon Emissions, and Carbon Disclosure Quality: A Literature Review
Get PDF【要旨】近年, コーポレートガバナンス改革に革新的な上場企業は, 取締役会に女性取締役を積極的に登用している。一方で, 炭素関連のリスクと機会に対する投資家の情報ニーズによって, 上場企業は炭素排出量の管理とその情報開示を求められている。企業の取締役会における女性取締役の存在, 炭素排出量削減, および炭素開示の品質の関係が明らかになることで, これらの取り組みへの効率的な資源配分につながる可能性がある。しかし, この問題について先行研究の決定的な結論は見られない。そこで, このギャップを埋めるために, 本研究は, 企業の取締役会における女性取締役の存在, 炭素排出量削減, および炭素開示の品質との関係を, 文献レビューを用いて検討している。先行研究は, クリティカルマス理論や取締役資本概念を用いて, 一定数の女性取締役が取締役会に存在することが, 炭素排出量削減や炭素開示の品質向上と結びつくことを説明している。本研究は, 取締役会における女性取締役の増加に関するコーポレートガバナンス改革が女性の平等の課題解決に寄与すること, また, 他のサステナビリティの課題にも正の波及効果をもたらす可能性があるという洞察を, 経営者, 市場関係者, および政策担当者に提供するであろう。Recently, listed companies innovative in corporate governance reforms have been observed to actively appoint women directors to boards of directors. Parallelly, the information needs of investors regarding carbon-related risks and opportunities are driving listed companies to manage their carbon emissions and disclose them. Clarifying the relationship between the presence of women directors on corporate boards, carbon emission reductions, and carbon disclosure quality may allow a more efficient allocation of resources to these efforts. However, previous studies are not conclusive on this issue. Therefore, to fill this gap, this study investigates the relationship between the presence of women directors on corporate boards, carbon emission reductions, and carbon disclosure quality, using a literature review. Prior studies use critical mass theory and the concept of board capital to explain how the presence of a certain number of women directors on boards is associated with reduced carbon emissions and an improved carbon disclosure quality. This study will provide an insight to managers, market participants, and policy makers that corporate governance reforms to increase women directors on boards can help overcome women's equality challenges and may have positive spillover effects on sustainability.departmental bulletin pape

Get PDF【概要】近年のオンラインショッピング等による越境 EC の急増で, 従前の一般的な貿易取引形態である, コンテナ満載貨物(Full of Container Load: FCL)に変えて, 国際小口貨物輸送が急増している。このような小口貨物輸送において, 不正薬物や知的財産侵害物品等の密輸が多数摘発されたり, 不当に低い価格で輸入申告することで関税等をほ脱するという脱税事案が顕在化している。安全保障貿易管理の観点からも懸念が増している。またこのように, 輸入業者を介さずに, 外国の売主から直接他の国の消費者に販売することで, 消費者の安全保護が軽視されがちとなっている。このようなことから各国が監視・規制の強化に乗り出してきている。With the recent surge in cross-border e-commerce (EC) driven by online shopping, there has been a rapid increase in international small-lot cargo shipments or courier transportation, replacing the traditional method of trade involving full container load (FCL) shipments. In this type of small-lot shipping, numerous cases have been uncovered involving the smuggling of illegal drugs and intellectual property-infringing goods, as well as tax evasion through underreporting import values to avoid duties and other taxes. Concerns are also rising from the perspective of security export control. Furthermore, since products are often sold directly from foreign sellers to consumers in other countries without going through importers, consumer safety protection tends to be neglected. A case of great saphenous varicose vein due to congenital venous dysplasia complicated by pulmonary embolism
Get PDF【抄録】症例は46歳男性. 栄養失調を契機に体動困難となり救急要請され, 血液検査で脱水による電解質異常およびD-dimer高値を認め入院となった. D-dimer高値の原因検索として心臓超音波検査および下肢静脈超音波検査を施行したが, 心腔内血栓および深部静脈血栓を認めなかった. また小児期より自覚していた巨大な右大伏在静脈瘤を認めたが静脈内血栓は認めなかった. 退院9日目に右下腿浮腫を主訴に再度受診. 造影CT検査にて右大伏在静脈瘤内に血栓および両側肺動脈塞栓症を認めたため, 再入院し抗凝固療法を開始した. 再入院後第21病日大腿静脈上3分の2までの右大伏在静脈ストリッピング手術＋膝下部での高位結紮術を施行し, 第30病日退院となった. 下肢静脈瘤から肺塞栓症を発症する可能性は極めて低いとされているが, 致命的な肺塞栓症の原因となる場合がある. 早期の治療介入が必要と考えられるが, 先天性静脈形成異常に伴う静脈瘤は著明な静脈拡張や周囲組織との癒着を伴うこともあり, 慎重な手術治療方針の検討を要する.departmental bulletin pape
Examination of the effectiveness of perioperative venous thromboembolism prevention according to in-house guidelines in lung cancer surgery
Get PDFPurpose: In-hospital venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention guidelines were established in February 2019 at Kindai University Hospital. This study examined the effectiveness of postoperative pulmonary embolism prevention in cases in which perioperative management was performed in accordance with this guideline. Methods: A total of 740 patients were enrolled in this study. The patients underwent lung cancer surgery based on the new guidelines between July 2019 and August 2023. The control subjects were 944 patients who underwent lung cancer surgery between January 2013 and December 2018. Results: In this study, the prevalence of reduced resections, such as wedge resection and segmentectomy and of thoracoscopic surgery was higher compared to that in the control group. Thirty-three patients (4.5%) were diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis preoperatively, and this was lower than in the control group. Perioperative VTE risk assessment according to the hospital guidelines included four patients of moderate risk, 681 patients of high risk, and 55 patients of highest risk. Of the 55 highest risk patients, 13 patients received perioperative anticoagulant therapy. In the control group, one patient with pulmonary embolism was observed, but no postoperative pulmonary embolism was observed in the study group. Conclusion: No postoperative pulmonary embolism occurred in patients with lung cancer who underwent perioperative VTE prophylaxis in accordance with our hospital guidelines. Unveiling Structural Challenges in Material Research and Development: A Network Science Perspective

The analysis reveals that a bird’s-eye view of the position of research groups is achievable, enabling the identification of research institutions occupying structural hole positions. A Study on Disaster Prevention of "Hatasu-no-michi" on Ise-ji, Kumano Pilgrimage Route
Get PDFThe “Hadasu Road” has the highest percentage of sediment disaster risk areas among the Kumano Pilgrimage Routes Ise-ji. The most common types of damage to the roads in the mountains are fallen trees and landslides. Therefore drainage facilities and forest maintenance are necessary to maintain the roads in good condition. Local forestry workers take care of the forests on a volunteer basis, since there are no clear standards for tree falling. Since different groups are in charge of different mountain passes, it is desirable for the government to provide some management standards, and for volunteer groups to establish horizontal links and a forum for information exchange. In addition, if people do not walk on the mountain paths, vegetation will soon become overgrown and blocking the paths. It is also important that tourists continue to walk the paths, and information should be provided on how to walk safely. There is concern that the Ise-ji could be damaged by a large-scale natural disaster such as a landslide or the Nankai Trough earthquake. There are six designated emergency evacuation sites for sediment disasters within a 1km radius of the Hadasu road, however, all of which were identified as having some risk of sediment disaster.departmental bulletin pape
