Serapan Nitrogen dan Fosfor Tanaman Bunga Matahari yang Dipupuk Urea dan SP-36 pada Tanah Ultisol
Phosphorus and Nitrogen Uptake by Sunflower Due to Urea and SP-36 Fertilization on UltisolABSTRACT. The objective of this research were to study the effect of nitrogen (N) from urea and phosphorus (P) from SP-36 fertilization on N and P uptake by sunflowers (Heliantus annuus L.) on Ultisol.The result of this experiment used was a randomized completely block design arranged in factorial pattern with three replications. The first factor was urea fertilizer (without N, 108.70, 217.40, and 326.10 kg ha-1 urea) and the second factor was P fertilizer (without P, 138.90, 277.80, and 416.70 kg ha-1 SP-36). The result of the experiment showed that, the application of increased urea at various rates of SP-36 affected on soil N total, P available (Bray-1), and yield of sunflowers. Nitrogen and P uptake as well as dry weight of sunflowers by application of 217.40 kg ha-1 urea was higher than without urea. Fertilization of 277.80 kg ha-1 SP-36 had influenced N and P uptake than without SP-36

Exploration of Growth Promoting Endophitic Bacteria Derived from Red Chilly TissuesABSTRACT. The aims of this research were: to explore growth promoting endophitic bacteria isolated from root of red chilly planted at swampy land, Ogan Ilir, South Sumatera, and to study the ability of resulted isolates to promote growth of red chilly by bioassay evaluation; and to evaluate the ability of resulted isolates to produce IAA in vitro. Different stage of red chilly as sources of endophitic bacteria samples were collected from various locations of chilly farms in Ogan Ilir District, South Sumatera. The results of this research proved that endophitic bacteria derived from root red chilly tissues acted as growth promoting, neutral and growth inhibiting bacteria. First, second and third of selection resulted in 8, 6, and 3 consortia of endophitic bacteria, which consistently promoted the growth of red chilly. The amount of IAA resulted by S248 isolates of endophitic bacteria (3.36 mg kg-1) as significantly lower than those of S348 isolates (4.16 mg kg-1) and S830 isolates (3.93 mg kg-1). The amount of IAA resulted by S348 isolates did not significantly differ from that of S830 isolates. Endophitic bacteria identified from S348 isolates were Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacillus cereus
Persistensi dan Pematahan Dormansi Benih pada Beberapa Varietas Padi Gogo
Persistence and Breaking Seed Dormancy of Land Rice CultivarsABSTRACT. Previous studies have been done to break seed dormancy in rice (Oryza sativa L.). However, since the behavior of seed dormancy are different for different varieties, there is a need to find effective methods for breaking dormancy in four most important cultivars of low land rice. Low land rice seeds were harvested at 95 days after planting (cv. Kalimutu and cv. Gajah Mungkur), 105 dap (cv. Way Rarem) or 115 dap (cv. Jatiluhur), and dried to 13% moisture content. The seeds were stored in an envelope paper at ambient temperature and relative humidity (28-310C, RH 81-89%) for up to 9 weeks with 1 week interval. Persistency of seed dormancy in each cultivar was determined based on the time needed to reach a minimum of 85% germination capacity. Various methods of breaking dormancy were applied: untreated control, soaking in water for 24 h, soaking in water for 48 h, soaking in 1% KN03 for 24 h, soaking in 1% KN03 for 48 h, soaking in 120 ppm GA3 for 24 h, soaking in 120 ppm GA3 for 48 h, heating 500C for 72 h, heating 500C for 48 h + heating in water for 24 h, heating 500C for 48 h + heating in water for 48 h, heating 500C for 48 h + heating in 1% KN03 for 24 h, heating 500C for 48 h + heating in 1% KN03 for 24 h, soaking in water for 24 h + in damp cloth for 24 h, mantriconditioning using sawdust and mantriconditioning using rice hull ash. Soon after the treatment the seeds were germinated, and seed viability and vigor were observed. Results of experiment showed the viability and vigor of low land rice seeds were increased after storage. Persistence of seed dormancy was different in each cultivar i.e. 3 weeks in Kalimutu (germination capacity 90%), 4 weeks in Way Rarem (87%), 6 weeks in Gajah Mungkur (92%), and 9 weeks in Jatiluhur (85%). Soaking the seeds in 1% KN03 for 48 h was the most effective method for breaking dormancy of Kalimutu, Gajah Mungkur and Way Rarem at harvest (0 weeks). Heating the seeds in a 500C oven for 48 h followed by soaking in water 24 h was the only effective method to break dormancy in cv. Jatiluhur at 2 weeks after harvest, while the time of harvest none of the method was effective

The effect of Vermicompost and Tobacco Seedling Mixture on Damping-off (Rhizoctonia solani KUHN.) in Green HouseABSTRACT. This research objective was to determine the dosage of vermicompost that could suppres the disease intensity on tobacco (N. tabaccum). The experiment was carried out in the green house of the Department of Plant amd Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Padjajaran University from July to August 2005. The experiment was arranged in the randomized completely block design using six treatment and four replications. The treatments were the mixture of seedling media and vermicompost at 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3, seedling media with propineb 70%, mixture of soil and bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost, and soil layered by bamboo leaf charcoal without vermicompost as control. The result showed that vermicompost mixed into tobacco seedling media could suppres the disease intensity. The dosage of the vermicompost at the ratio of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 suppressed 80,00%; 90,00%, and 92,50% of damping off disease intensity on tobacco respectively

Effect of Sinergism and Antagonism Mix of Herbicide Metolachlor and Pendimethalin in Soybean (Glycine max L. Merril) AreaABSTRACT. The mixture two or more herbicide are represent to anticipate weakness in use herbicide at one particular crop specially in soybean. Research was aimed to find out influence of mixture two herbicide, with under various dosage to weeds and yield of soybean. Field research was conducted from February 2006 until May 2006 at station research Agriculture faculty Padjajaran University. The factorial experiment was carried out in randomized completely block design. The two factors are Metolachlor and Pendimethalin. Our result the mixture metolachlor and pendimethalin showed synergistic and antagonistic effect to population and weeds dried matter by used Colbys method, however with used regression method, the population of weeds showed effect synergistic, and weeds dried matter not showed effect synergistic. The mixture metolachlor and pendimethalin can increased dried yield with compared to applied single doses

Simulation of Slope Stability Analysis and Terrace Design for Water and Soil ConservationABSTRACT. The terrace development for soil and water conservation often experience the failure such as landslide, like some agriculture farm in Sub-District Banjarwangi, regency of Garut. Considering this problem, it is required to conduct research and analysis on slope stability, especially for the slope with bench terrace. Slope stability is determined by the slope morphology, soil physically and mechanical properties. This research aims to determined the slope stability at a farmland made by terrace, and expected to give recommendation for planning water and soil conservation to avoid landslide. This research was to conducted in field, laboratory and with computer simulation. The triaxial test of soil taken I Mulyajaya village, Sub-District of Banjarwangi shows that at the mean density of 1.44 t m-3, the average effective cohesion is 0.15 kgf cm-2 and the average internal friction angel is 20.30 for natural condition. Actual terrace at the landslide location is initially stable (Fs = 1.22) and become unstable (Fs = 0.31) as the soil is nearly saturated with increase of soil water table due to rain. Simulation using the slope design software which is being developed can ease the prediction of soil stability in order to help land utilization planning for soil and water conservation

The effect of Sludge Compost On Improving Erodibilty UltisolABSTRACT. Research for evaluation of using compost on erodibility Ultisol have been done at the experiment station of Jambi University, Mandalo Darat, Jambi. The objective experiment to show the effect of compost sludge to improve erodibilty Ultisols. The experiment was arranged in a randomized completely block design with 3 replications. The treatment consist of four levels sludge i.e. 0 ton ha-1, 10 ton ha-1, 20 ton ha-1, 30 ton ha-1. The data were analyzed by analysis of variances and Duncans Multiple Range Test. The result showed that there were increasing of sludge, improving organic matter, permeability and decreace of soil erodibilty
Tingkat Kesesuaian Lahan Tembakau Deli (Nicotiana tobacco L.) pada Beberapa Subgroup Tanah di Sumatera Utara
Land Suitability Level for Deli Tobacco (Nicotiana tobacco L.) of Some Soil Subgroup in North SumateraABSTRACT. A field experiment was aim to study land suitability classes based on the limiting factor of growth for deli tobacco of soil subgroups (Aquic Eutrudepts, Aeric Epiaquepts, Fluventic Eutrudepts) was conduct at deli tobacco plantations PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II. The experiment carried out by using soil data (database and soil analysis), wet production leaf and rainfall for tenth year period (1992 2001). The result showed that the plantations of deli tobacco classified in to land suitability classes; S3tn (Aquic Eutrudepts), S3dn (Aquic Eutrudepts; Aeric Epiaquepts), S3n (Aquic Eutrudepts; Fluventic Eutrudepts) and S3wn (Aquic Eutrudepts) with the limiting factors of growth such as low water content, poorly drainaged, fine texture, low organic-C, low total-N, low soil pH, low cation exchange capacity (CEC), highly available P. The land suitability class of S3tn has the higher wet leaf production than S3dn, S3n, and S3wn. The lowest is land suitability class of S3wn. The wet leaf production, organic C and soil pH have significant positive correlation (r = 0.57**), (r = 0.43*) and (r = 0.44*). The soil subgroup of Aeric Epiaquepts is able to produce higher wet leaf production than soil of Aquic Eutrudepts and Fluventic Eutrudepts
Pemupukan Limbah Monosodium Glutamate dan Gypsum Terhadap Serapan N, P, dan K Tanaman Jagung (Zea mays L.)
Monosodium Glutame Sludge and Gypsum Application on Nutrient Update (N, P, and K) by Corn (Zea mays L.)ABSTRACT. The aims of this research was to study of the nutrient uptake by corn fertilizer with MSG sludge and Gypsum on pelluderts soil in Cihea, Neglasari Village, Cianjur West Java. The result of the experiment showed N content increased proportionally with the increased of MSG sludge and gypsum application. The combination MSG sludge and gypsum application showed N content of plant 0,79 g to 4,21 g and the root were 0,14 to 0,29 g. The content of fosfor in plant increased with increasing MSG sludge and gypsum application from 0,13 g to 0,33 g, and MSG sludge application increased content of P in the root from 0,015 mg to 0,024 mg. The content of K in plant without MSG sludge application ranged from 0,99 g to 2,23 g and the root 0,029 g to 0,78 g with MSG sludge application 8000 L ha-1
Tingkat Populasi dan Waktu Infestasi Hama Penggulung Daun (Lamprosema indicate F.): Pengaruhnya Terhadap Hasil Kacang Tanah
Population Rate and Infestation Time of Leaves Rollers Insect (Lamprosema indicate F.): The Effect of Peanut YieldABSTRACT. Study of population rate and infestation time of larvae of L. indicate on peanut yield was conducted in Experimental Farm of Agriculture Faculty, Syiah Kuala University, Darussalam, Banda Aceh. Factorial completely randomized design was applied. The first factor was population rate of L. indicata, consisting of four levels i.e. 0, 1, 3, and 6 larvae per plant. The second factor was infestation time of L. indicata larvae, consisting of four levels i.e. at time of 14, 21, 28, 35 day after planting. Each treatment was repeated three times. Variable observed were infestation intensity of L. indicata, the number of pods, the number of grain per plant, and dried grain weight per plant. The result showed that there was significant interaction between population rate and infestation time on infestation intensity of L. indicata. Population rate of 1 larvae per plant and infestation time of 35 day after planting was effective to lessen infestation intensity up to 4,88 percents. Population rate of 1 larvae per plant caused the highest number of pod, grain, and dried grain weight per plant compared to those of the population rate of 3 and 6 larvae per plant. On the contratry, the infestation time of 14 days after planting caused the lowest number of pod, grain, and dried grain weight per plant compared to that infestation time 35 day after planting
