The Existence of Didactic Values in "Percy Jackson and the Olympians Lightning Thief” Novel by Rick Riordan
This study aims to describe didactic values in the "Percy Jackson And The Olympians Lightning Thief" novel by Rick Riordan. This study employed a descriptive qualitative methodology. The method for gathering data in this study has several steps, namely novel identification, identification of unit analysis, data collection, and data categorization The data source for this research was Percy Jackson And The Olympians Lightning Thief novel by Rick Riordan. The Didactic values that were the focus of this research were Sharing, Responsibility, Empathy, and Helping Others. Based on the results of data analysis found didactic values as many as 26 data. The first number of findings, Sharing values were 6 (23%) findings. It was a value that focused on sharing activities that can be beneficial. Second, Responsible values with a total of 10 (39%) findings. It was a value that focused on being responsible in doing anything. Third, Empathy Values with a total of 6 (23%) findings. It was a value that focused on understanding what other people feel and think. And the Fourth is helping Other values with a total of 4 (15%) findings. It was a value that focused on helping each other. Thus, from this amount, it can be concluded that the novel Percy Jackson And The Olympians Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan found many didactic values with a total of 26 data findings and the most dominant Didactic values were found Responsible values with 10 data findings
An Analysis of Student's Javanese Language Interference in Pronunciation of English
AbstractIn this study concern with an analysis students’ Javanese language interference in pronunciation English at the fourth semester students of English education program of Nurul Huda University. The study aim to identify the forms of phonological interference in the Javanese dialect in the school, along with its causal factors. This study was a qualitative descriptive study with a sociolinguistic approach.The technique for collecting the data were test consisted some word from oxford dictionary to pronoun especially in word have (/d/) in reading passage and student read by Javanese dialect, recording and observation. The technique for collecting the data were test consisted of 20 words from the text and 20 respondent Javanese people, the technique for analyzing the data are data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing/verification. The writer found that the Javanese learners of English encountered difficulties in pronouncing especially in the accent the sound /d/ in final position in voiceless /t/, Based on the findings, the writer found that students’Javanese pronunciation interference of the fourth semester students of English education program of Nurul Huda University was pronuncing accent in final position /d/ with the result test of pronunciation was 329 words from 20 respondents and for the result of observation was 11 words not interference and interference of pronunciation test was 73 words with 20 respondents.Keywords : Javanese, Interference, Pronunciatio
A Review of Duolingo Application in Learning English
This study aims to review the extent of the studies that have been carried out related to the Duolingo application in learning English. This study uses a descriptive quantitative research method with a content analysis approach. The data was obtained from the Google Scholar database in the form of journal articles about the Duolingo application in learning English which were published during the 2018-2022 period. The analysis was carried out by mapping the articles into three groups; the year of publication, type of research, and theme of study. The results of the study show that of 40 articles analyzed, the majority examine the use of the Duolingo application to facilitate learning vocabulary. Meanwhile, there are very few articles that examine the use of the Duolingo application to improve language skills. Therefore, in the future, researchers should conduct research on the Duolinggo application which is applied to improve English language skills
Bilingual Analysis in Early Childhood: A Meta-Analysis Study
Mastery of foreign languages is an added value in life. Bilingualism is the focus of attention for researchers and educators. The ability to speak foreign languages is a challenge for alpha generation children to communicate and collaborate with other people both domestically and internationally. Especially in the golden age when children are susceptible to the stimuli and stimuli given. This article aims to increase understanding of how the bilingual effect can play a role and affect early childhood. This article is a qualitative research study to make a phenomenon or fact easier to understand and produce a hypothesis. Recently used document studies with Crossref Data Search, Google Scholar, Taylor & Francis, and Harzing's Publish or Perish software. Google This study aims to describe previous research on bilingualism and its relation to early childhood. Changes that occur in society also change language learning and teaching. Language is valued as an important part of social processes and interactions. This point of view has prompted various studies to focus on language learning. This study has presented findings and recommendations to help other researchers and language educators suggest new methods and findings on how to learn bilingually in early childhood. For the next expected study, there is data that discusses parents' hope for bilingualism practiced in children age early with the reality that happens at school
The Effect of Duolingo Application Towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya
The goal of this study was to determine if there was a significant difference in vocabulary mastery between seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya who were taught using the Duolingo program and those who were taught using the conventional approach. Quantitative research, an experimental technique, and a quasi-experimental design were employed. In the academic year2021/2022, seventh graders from SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya were the population. The sample was collected by purposeful sampling, and it consisted of an experimental group of 27 students and a control group of 28 students. The data were collected using a multiple-choice exam and analyzed using the independent t-test in SPSS 22. This investigation found a significant distinction between the experimental and control groups. This meant that students in the seventh grade at SMP Negeri 3 Belitang Mulya may use the Duolingo App to teach and acquire vocabulary

Utilizing Reading Progress Feature In Microsoft Teams To Improve Speaking and Listening Competence Of English Foreign Language Learners
This study investigated whether the Reading Progress Feature substantially improves speaking abilities. This study used a quasi-experimental design using non-equivalent pretest-posttest control groups or comparison groups, and the population of this study comprised all undergraduate students of Universitas Prof Dr Moestopo Beragama. Purposive sampling was used to select 78 English Foreign Learners as the sample. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the EFL learners speaking comprehension after being evaluated using Reading Progress Feature to those who were not. There was also a significant mean difference in the EFL learners speaking comprehension after being evaluated using Reading Progress Feature than those not. On the other hand, technological Knowledge in Microsoft Team influences EFL learners speaking ability, and the evaluation from the Reading Progress Feature contributes to the speaking comprehension. Fluency contributed to speaking skills (aspects) to overall speaking accomplishment. As a result, it is possible to infer that employing Reading Progress Feature considerably improves EFL Learners' speaking abilities. The research's pedagogical conclusion is that instructors should consider Microsoft Team, including academic training in the English language online classroom since this might increase EFL learners' desire to speak and write by exposing them to real intriguing material
The Portrayal of Orientalism and Occidentalism in the novel "A Passage to India" by, E. M. Forster Post-Colonialism Approach
This research was conducted to analyze the influence of orientalism and occidentalism on the lives of western and eastern people in the novel "a passage to india" by e. M. Forster using a post-colonial approach and the theory of edward said, namely Orientalism and Occidentalism. According to Said, Orientalism is the study of Eastern world in the perspective or Western people and Occidentalism is the study of Western world in the perspective of Eastern people. This study used qualitative methods to analyze the potrayal and influence of the two theories in their respective social lives. Based on the analysis that has been done in the novel “A Passage to India”, Western people in India still monopolize the government and look down on Indian. Although there are some characters who have welcomed and treated Indians well but their initial interest in coming to India was to rule India.
 
THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEAMS GAMES TOURNAMENT STRATEGY TO TEACH READING COMPREHENSION IN DESCRIPTIVE TEXT TO THE TENTH-GRADE STUDENTS OF SMK PEMUDA KUTOREJO
Students could enrich their knowledge by reading books or from the other sources, whether in academic or non academic purposes. Reading activity helped to improve the students’ learning in class, especially in English learning. Moreover, besides writing, speaking, and listening, reading had become one of the essential skills. In improving the reading skill, students also had to improve their comprehension through reading some texts. This research was aimed to measure the effectiveness of using Teams Games Tournament strategy to teach reading comprehension in descriptive text to the tenth-grade students of SMK PEMUDA Kutorejo. The method which had applied in this research was quasi-experimental research. There were two classes, experimental and control classes which had been given the post-test. The average score in control class was 62,90 and experiment class was 76,83. After collecting the data, the researcher had to calculate and analyze them by using t-test formula. The result showed the t-value was 7,97, which is greater than t-table 1,67 at 0,05 levels of significance for df is 60. As a conclusion, Teams Games Tournament strategy was effective when it is implemented in reading comprehension through descriptive text in tenth-grade class. It could be an alternative way to teach reading descriptive text for the better strategy which has given by those teacher to find out the students comprehension in their reading skill
