Enhanced energy storage efficiency of lead lutetium niobate ceramics via Ba/La co-doping strategy

    No full text
Dielectric ceramics have emerged as promising candidate materials for pulse capacitor system due to their exceptional thermal stability, mechanical properties, and energy storage capabilities. However, the potential of antiferroelectric ceramics based on Pb(Lu1/2Nb1/2)O3 in pulse-power systems is hindered by their high phase transition switching field and low energy storage efficiency. Herein, to address these limitations, we propose a co-doping strategy involving Ba2+ and La3+ ions to enhance the energy storage efficiency while simultaneously preserving a high energy storage density. Through the co-doping approach, we observed remarkable improve- ments in the performance of the ceramics. In comparison to Ba2+-doped samples, the co-doped ceramics exhibit a 33 % increase in energy storage density and a 51 % increase in efficiency. Our findings offer valuable insights into enhancing the energy storage characteristics of other dielectric material

Thermal finite-element model of electric machine cooled by spray

    No full text
The demand for higher power density in electrical machines necessitates advanced cooling strategies. Spray cooling emerges as a promising and relatively straightforward technology, albeit involving complex physics. In this paper, a quasi-3D thermal finite-element model of stator winding is created by the extrusion of a 2D cross-sectional finite-element model along the winding direction. The cooling effects of the spray impact are simulated as a heat flux that uses an impedance boundary condition at the surface of the winding overhang. The results confirm the advantageous performance of spray cooling, indicating that it may enable a tenfold increase in power density compared to standard air- or water-cooled machines

    No full text

EXPRESSIONS OF OPINION PRODUCED BY FRENCH LEARNERS OF GERMAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE. An Exploratory Corpus Analysis (L1 – L2)

    No full text
The present study represents a corpus-based analysis of expressions of opinion (EoO) in German, which are based on multi-word combinations of varying degrees of fixity and are defined pragmatically as text-pattern-related acts of expressing one’s opinion. The analysis is centred on the formal and functional characteristics of a number of selected EoO occurring in written productions of French students, in comparison to productions by German native speakers. Following a presentation of the method based on construction-grammatical, frame-semantic, discourse- and text-linguistic premises, a series of results emerging from the corpus-based analysis are discussed. The specially compiled learner corpus of written productions by French learners of German and the native-language comparison corpus were empirically and qualitatively analysed using Sketch Engine The results confirm the hypothesis that German L2-constructions of expressing one’s opinion are fundamentally different from L1-constructions. The exploratory analysis and the associated approach require broader studies in order to deepen the theoretical and pedagogical-didactic findings

Im Dritten Raum – Praxisbericht aus einem bilingualen Studiengang/Cursus bilingue

    No full text

Teil: Anwendung

    No full text

Looking beyond the content plane – Modal assessment in Norwegian learners’ texts in German as a foreign language

    No full text
This article seeks to obtain a better understanding of interpersonal meaning-making in short written responses by Norwegian learners of German as a foreign language by analysing the modal assessment strategies used in four different task settings. Based on the framework of Systemic Functional Linguistics, the study focuses on how modal verbs, modal adjuncts and corresponding paraphrases are employed, and on the meanings which are realised accordingly. The study identifies several strategies and shows how they contribute to expressing different attitudes and to enacting different social relations. Overall, the study raises awareness of the central role of modal assessment in writing

Perspectives on data-driven models and its potentials in metal forming and blanking technologies

    No full text
Today, design and operation of manufacturing processes heavily rely on the use of models, some analytical, empirical or numerical i.e. finite element simulations. Models do reflect reality as best as their design and structure may appear, but in many cases, they are based on simplifying assumptions and abstractions. Reality in production, i.e. reflected by measures such as forces, deflections, travels, vibrations etc. during the process execution, is tremendously characterised by noise and fluctuations revealing a stochastic nature. In metal forming such kind of impact on produced product today in detail is neither explainable nor supported by the aforementioned models. In industrial manufacturing the game to deal with process data changed completely and engineers learned to value the high significance of information included in such digital signals. It should be acknowledged that process data gained from real process environments in many cases contain plenty of technological information, which may lead to increase efficiency of production, to reduce downtime or to avoid scrap. For this reason, authors started to focus on process data gained from numerous metal forming technologies and sheet metal blanking in order to use them for process design objectives. The supporting idea was found in a potential combination of conventional process design strategies with new models purely based on digital signals captured by sensors, actuators and production equipment in general. To utilise established models combined with process data, the following obstacles have to be addressed: (1) acquired process data is biased by sensor artifacts and often lacks data quality requirements; (2) mathematical models such as neural networks heavily rely on high quantities of training data with good quality and sufficient context, but such quantities often are not available or impossible to gain; (3) data-driven black-box models often lack interpretability of containing results, further opposing difficulties to assess their plausibility and extract new knowledge. In this paper, an insight on usage of available data science methods like feature-engineering and clustering on metal forming and blanking process data is presented. Therefore, the paper is complemented with recent approaches of data-driven models and methods for capturing, revealing and explaining previously invisible process interactions. In addition, authors follow with descriptions about recent findings and current challenges of four practical use cases taken from different domains in metal forming and blanking. Finally, authors present and discuss a structure for data-driven process modelling as an approach to extent existing data-driven models and derive process knowledge from process data objecting a robust metal forming system design. The paper also aims to figure out future demands in research in this challenging field of increasing robustness for such kind of manufacturing processes
