The sector service is what has the highest employability index in the country and is even the one with the largest participation in the world economy. In this sense, there is evidence of increased awareness of organizations that improvement has to come from the inside out. Thus, this research aims to demonstrate the competitive importance of the maintenance sector of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) through the application of the importance-performance matrix. As for the methodological procedures, this study is characterized by exploratory and quantitative research. A set of criteria to be evaluated within the organizational performance objectives was created in conjunction with maintenance staff and an IES strategic sector manager. As a result, an HEI demonstrated good performance in most of the criteria, generated an exception of one of the criteria that was out in the areas that need improvement actions, the accomplishment of the results by the matrix is important

    Get PDF
The purpose of this research is to explore and test the effect of electronic Word-of-mouth (eWOM) on the adoption of consumer eWOM information. Through the credibility variables of the eWOM, namely the trust of the eWOM news source, the quantity of eWOM, the quality of eWOM and consumer expertise in the case of female consumers when buying cosmetics in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. To achieve this goal, the author does conduct research by submitting an online survey questionnaire and obtained 200 valid questionnaires. The online questionnaire has targeted internet users, who have previously purchased online and read reviews online received from the provider's website. The result from Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) shows that consumer expertise has the most significant effect on consumer adoption of eWOM information while the number of eWOM has the least impact. Besides, the credibility of eWOM news sources and the quality of eWOM also indirectly affect the adoption of eWOM information. What is more, the study suggests some recommendations to cosmetic businesses so that they develop applications or websites where assessments and quality of information are relevant, and the current expertise of consumers is increasingly present

Lean and metrology: a systematic review and bibliometric analysis of the scientific literature from the last 20 years

    Get PDF
The metrology area is responsible for measurement properties and is present in the market through services related to calibration, standardization, maintenance, measurement traceability, and certification. While there is a demand from metrology companies for efficient methods of managing the quality of their services and operations, lean culture encompasses the most important management techniques with applications in various segments. Considering the aspects that permeate these two areas, the question arises about a possible intersection between the demands of companies and metrology laboratories to remain competitive and certified in the market and benefits provided by lean culture. Thus, this paper performs a systematic review, according to the PRISMA protocol, in order to verify if there is an intersection between lean and metrology in the scientific literature. Through bibliometric and qualitative analyses, the research shows a gap of application with a lack of articles in this area, as well as a great potential of places and tools to be implemented

Supply chain risk mitigation through sales forecasting in a cosmetics company

    Get PDF
Demand forecasting has become a fundamental tool for companies' strategic planning. Represented by one of the highest growth rates in the country, the cosmetics industry faces numerous challenges in meeting the demand of consumers with a high level of service. Correctly identifying demand is critical to avoiding unnecessary extra costs for the business, such as stockout or stock over. The sales data of shampoo franchises are real values, covering the period from January 2013 to December 2018. After data organization, open-time and fixed-time time series techniques were analyzed in order to find the best forecasting technique for the type of product analyzed, i.e. the method with the smallest difference in absolute values between the actual demanded. and the estimated. The models were successfully applied, and we concluded that one of the analyzed methods could be applied in the company, because it presented smaller Mean Absolute Percentage Error

Influence of principals' self-management on the organisational commitment of teachers in secondary school in county governments in Kenya

    Get PDF
Committed employees are likely to work harder and more efficiently, and stay in their jobs longer than less committed employees. Research indicate that the leader’s self-management may influence the organizational commitment of employees as they feel good about working with such leaders since they are more likely to react to problems in a more controlled manner and may be more accommodative to different views of the subordinates. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of principals’ (head of secondary schools) self-management on the organizational commitment (OC) of teachers as moderated by teachers’ self-efficacy. The dependent variable in this study is OC, while the independent variable is self-management (a dimension of emotional intelligence) and the moderating variable is teachers’ self-efficacy. This study hypothesized that principal’s self-management has no significant relationship on teachers’ OC. Simple random sampling was used to draw a sample of 120 principals and 480 teachers from secondary schools in Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, and Kiambu counties in Kenya. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data from the respondents. Collected data was analyzed through independent samples t-test, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and multiple regression. The study established that principals’ self-management had a significant correlation with teachers’ OC. It also established that teachers’ self-efficacy moderated the relationship between principals’ self-management and teachers’ OC and that self-efficacy had positive influence on teachers OC. This study makes useful contribution in the advancement of knowledge on the influence of principals’ self-management on teachers’ OC in Kenya

Testing the joint stock market efficiency of OPEC countries

    Get PDF
The study investigates the joint market efficiency hypothesis of the OPEC countries by obtaining monthly stock price data from seven OPEC countries from January, 2005 to April, 2016.  The study confirms the risk-return tradeoff in the OPEC stock markets.  While most relationships are positive only a pair of country shows strong negative association   Results of both parametric and nonparametric tests indicate that all OPEC members’ monthly stock return, except Qatar, are not weak-efficient. This implies that not all OPEC stock markets are efficient.  Meanwhile, the study finds that current monthly stock return of one country member can be predicted using the historical monthly price movement of another OPEC member.  As a whole, the monthly stock price of OPEC countries are not jointly weak efficient.  Recommendations were offered based on these important discoveries

Regarding the existence of different brands in the various fields of consumer products, customers’ commitment to the brand is an important factor in the success of the product of the brand. The present research studies the effects of brand passion on commitment to the brand with regard to the adjusting role of ethics of the brand. Regarding the goal of the study, research methodology applied is practical, and it is conducted as a survey. The research tool comprised three standard questionnaires; for measuring brand passion a 14-question questionnaire (Vallerand et al., 2003) was used, for measuring commitment, a 16-question questionnaire was employed (Shukla et al., 2016), and finally, for the ethics of the brand, a 6-question questionnaire was applied (Brunk, 2012). The statistical community of the study comprised all the consumers of the brands of the sanitary cleaners and detergents. The 384 subjects were selected through a random sampling method. The data thus gathered was analyzed by the software SMART-PLS. And the results showed that brand passion had a positive effect on brand commitment while the variable of the brand ethics had an adjusting role in such effect. Therefore, it is recommended that the managers of the brands of sanitary cleaners and detergents pay special attention to the ethical aspects of the brands so as to increase the commitment of the customers to their brands
