A Preference-Oriented Multi-Criteria Decision Model for Stunting-Prevention Food Basket Ranking using AHP-TOPSIS
It is necessary to give concentrated attention to the issue of stunting by implementing appropriate nutrition initiatives to prevent stunted physical and mental development. Optimal food availability is one effective strategy for preventing it. However, it often disregards preferences that guarantee pleasure, dietary diversity, and compatibility with individual tastes. In this paper, we show a two-step multi-criteria decision model. The AHP is used to figure out the criteria weights, and the TOPSIS method ranks food basket options based on how close they are to the ideal solution. The efficacy of our strategy was subsequently evaluated in Balikpapan, a prominent urban center in Indonesia grappling with the issue of stunting. The evaluation's findings were as follows: nutritional value (27%) was the most significant factor, knowledge of the food ingredients (18%), variety of foods made from the food ingredients (17%), ease of preparation, cooking, and storage (15%), cost (12%), and child preference (11%). The findings indicated that food basket 3, priced at Rp209,857 and yielding 1,854.96 kcal, consisted of rice weighing 3.63 kg, duck egg weighing 1.16 kg, milkfish weighing 0.65 kg, tuna weighing 0.06 kg, cauliflower weighing 0.17 kg, kale weighing 3.46 kg, and dragon fruit weighing 1.87 kg. In addition to nutrition and cost, this study highlights that considering preferences can enhance the appeal of food baskets
Prediction of Soil Expansivity with Direct and Indirect Method in Banten Region, Indonesia
Expansive soils are widespread in Indonesia, particularly in Banten Province, causing extensive road damages. The study aimed to predict the soil expansivity of soil subgrade along the damaged road segments in Malingping, Cikeusik-Cibaliung, and Labuan districts. Indirect and direct expansivity predictions were employed to determine soil swelling potential. Indirect expansivity prediction was conducted based on various criteria using the Atterberg limit and grain size distribution. Direct expansivity prediction was conducted using an oedometer apparatus to measure the expansion index according to ASTM D-4829. A dynamic cone penetration test was also conducted to measure CBR values. Various indirect methods showed inconclusive results of swelling potentials, low to very high. The direct method provided more conclusive results, Expansivity Index = 100-167 and swelling values = 9%-18%, thus, categorized as expansive clay (high to very high swelling potential). CBR values were 1.49%-5% which is lower than minimum provisioned CBR (6%)

Passive Design Strategy in Vernacular House of Samin, Indonesia
Vernacular architecture embodies passive design principles and strategies to create comfortable dwellings. This study investigates the impact of passive design strategies on temperature comfort in Samin vernacular houses. Visual observation is employed to assess the suitability of house elements based on passive design criteria. At the same time, field measurements are conducted to evaluate comfortable temperature conditions using data loggers over one month. The research focuses on the Original Samin house and the New Samin house situated in Klopoduwur Village, Blora Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The visual observation reveals that the roof volume, slope, and thin walls with low conductivity in both Samin houses align with passive design principles. The New Samin house also incorporates other passive design strategies, including an east-west building orientation with the long side perpendicular to the wind direction, an open-plan room layout, and varying floor heights. The temperature comfort performance in both houses falls within the neutral temperature range during 16 hours. The New Samin house exhibits the largest daytime air temperature decrease at 5.5°C, while the Original Samin house experiences the largest nighttime decrease at 0.7°C. The evolution of passive designs in Samin vernacular houses encompasses considerations such as building proportion and width, terrace width, positioning and size of window openings, vegetation, and shading elements
Impact of Injection Duration and Injection Timing Variations on Torque and Power Output of the Ken Arok Urban Car Utilizing E100 Ethanol
State Polytechnic of Malang (Polinema) actively participated in the energy-efficient car competition. The Polinema team has developed an energy-efficient car called Ken Arok, which competes in the urban ethanol class (Internal Combustion Engine) concept. This class emphasizes using internal combustion engines as the driving force and ethanol as the fuel. Ken Arok won fifth place in the competition due to obstacles in the programmed ECU program, especially in the injection duration. This study examines the effect of the interaction between injection duration and injection time variations on the torque and power output of the Ken Arok urban car fueled by E100 ethanol. An experimental approach was used in this study. A modified motor, converted into an energy-efficient urban car, was tested. The injection duration mapping was varied in multiples of 2 ms, with values ranging from 2 ms less than the standard to 2 ms more than the standard. Likewise, the injection time was varied in multiples of 2 degrees, including 2 degrees less than the standard and 2 degrees more than the standard. The dyno tester measured the torque and power generated under these conditions. The main objective of this study was to identify the optimal torque and power settings for the Ken Arok energy-efficient engine. The highest torque value recorded was 10.13 N.m, achieved at 6000 rpm when using an injection duration of 2 ms more than the standard (9.06 ms) and an injection timing advanced by 2 degrees (3580). The peak power output reached 8.7 HP at 6000 rpm under compression injection duration plus 2 ms (9.06 ms), and when the injection was advanced by 20 (3580)
Decanter Brand Selection Using Multi-Criteria Decision Making: A Case Study
Decanters play a crucial role in Palm Oil Mills by separating the oil phase from the sludge underflow in continuous settling tanks during the clarification process. Given the significance of decanters and the multitude of manufacturers, this study focuses on a comprehensive evaluation of three-phase decanter brands selection. Utilizing the analytic hierarchy process, the research explores the nuanced criteria of economics, technical aspects, and service quality for brand selection. Sub-criteria include operational cost, price, overhaul cost, emulsion content, oil losses, capacity, distance to buffer tank, electricity consumption, service scheme, guarantee, spare part availability, and workshop location. The alternatives considered are common decanter brands in Indonesia: Alfa Laval, IHI, Flottweg, and Westfalia. Using Expert Choice®, the analysis identifies Flottweg as the optimal decanter brand based on performance, particularly excelling in service criteria with a priority weight of 0.336. Sensitivity analysis indicates that for IHI to be considered the first option, technical and economic criteria must be prioritized above 56.5% and 50.0%, respectively. This study also concluded that technical and service aspects are equally important in decision-making for the decanter brand in POM A, surpassing economic ones, with service aspects as the critical factor in decanter brand decision-making
