    TRANSESTERIFIKASI IN SITU BIJI PANDAN LAUT (Pandanus tectorius ) MENJADI BIODIESEL MENGGUNAKAN GELOMBANG ULTRASONIK

    Biodiesel is a renewable, biodegradable, environmentally benign and efficient used for substitution fossil fuel. Screw pine seed (Pandanus tectorius) is one of promising material for biodiesel feedstock. The main purpose of this research was to evaluate the process production of biodiesel from screw pine seeds using ultrasound through in situ transesterification. The process was studied at reaction temperature sof 45, 55 and 65oC; reaction times of 60, 70, 80 and 90 minutes; methanol to seed ratiosof 15:1, 20:1, 25:1 and 30:1 (w/w); KOH catalyst concentrations of 3, 4, 5 and 6 (%-w of seed) for co-solvent (kloroform) to seed ratio of 1:1 (w/w). The experimental results showed that the maximum yield of biodiesel obtained was 86.38% at reaction temperature of 65°C, mass ratio of methanol to seed 25:1 (w/w), 5% of KOH as catalyst and 80 minutes of reaction time. Test results of physicochemical properties showed that viscosity, density and acid value conformed to the SNI 7182-2012 standard. Gas Chomatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis showed that biodiesel consisted of five fatty acid methyl esters of methyl octadec, methyl linoleate, methyl palmitate, methyl stearate and methyl oleate.Keywords: biodiesel, in situ transesterification, screw pine, ultrasoun

    Environment aspects become very important in measuring the performance of supply chain as well asmeasuring value added of poultry industry. This research aimed at proposing a green supply chain performanceand green value added on agroindustry of poultry supply chain. LCA approach was used in structuring greensupply chain performance measurement. Green value added in the poultry supply chain was measured byconsidering not only financial perspectives but also environmental aspects. The study showed that greenperformance of supply chain with functional unit 20.000 head of chicken. impact resulted from farm:acidification (17.100 M2UES), eutrophication (58.400 M2UES), global warming (91.300 kgCO2Eq) andecotoxicity (291.000 kg TEG-Eq); for slaughter unit: acidification (12.400 M2UES), eutrophication (42 200M2UES), global warming (66.000 kgCO2Eq) and ecotoxicity (210.000 kg TEG-eq); for processing unit:acidification (7.410 M2UES), eutrophication (25.000M2UES), global warming (39.900 KgCO2Eq), andecotoxicity (124.000 kg TEG-Eq).     MODIFIKASI PENGOLAHAN DURIAN FERMENTASI (TEMPOYAK) DAN PERBAIKAN KEMASAN UNTUK MEMPERTAHANKAN MUTU DAN MEMPERPANJANG UMUR SIMPAN

    Tempoyakis one of traditional food that has short shelf life. The pasteurization and packaging improvement could be expected can maintain the quality and extend the tempoyak’s shelf life. This research used polyethylene terephtalate (PET) and polyamide as packaging materials; with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), non MAP, vacuum and non vacuum. The parameters quality of tempoyak were observed by value of pH, sugar content, lactic acid, alcohol, lactic acid bacteria growth and total plate count. The result showed that the best quality of tempoyak was produced by product with pasteurization treatment. Lactobacillus genus with L.plantarum, L. casei, and L. fermentum were the dominant species of lactic acid bacteria. The result also showed that after the tempoyak was fermented during 84 hours, then the pasteurization should be conducted to stop the fermentation. The 84th hours was a constant phase in which that was the right time to inhibit the acid lactic bacteria growth. Pasteurized tempoyak packaged in PET with MAP technique had the longest shelf life as much as 84 days than others treatment whose had aboutonly 14 untill 56 days. The decreasing of tempoyak quality at 84 days was showed by colour change of tempoyak from yelowness to brown, pH decreased from 3.97 to 3.73, lactic acid content decreased from 1.49% to 0.99%, sugar content decreased from 16.57% to 3.28%, alcohol content of 0.32%, number of lactic acid bacteria decreased from 174.3×104cfu/g to 8.6×102 cfu/g, and total plate count from 177×104 cfu/g to 182.3×103 cfu/g.Keywords: modified atmosfir packaging, pasteurization, tempoyak, vacuu

    MODEL PRODUKTIVITAS BAGI HASIL AGROINDUSTRI GULA TEBU DALAM KEMITRAAN ANTARA PETANI DAN PERUSAHAAN: STUDI KASUS DI PG KREMBOONG, SIDOARJO

    In the agricultural activity especially sugarcane industries, there was untrust issue between farmers and sugarcane industry on yield measurement that impacting onfarmers’ performance and income. The objective of this study was to formulate gainsharing productivity, with the following steps: 1) analyzed factors influencing the crops yield, 2) created a model for yield prediction, 3) constructed a model of gainsharing productivity, 4) analyzed the institutional to increase gainsharing productivity and 5) established recommendation strategy for gainsharing productivity. System thinking, multiple linear regression (SPSS) and production function research, ISM and SWOT-AHP were used as an approach and technique. Face validation from expert judgment was used for verification and validation. The result showed that sugarcane quality, brix, and pol analyzing gave a huge impact on crops yield. Yield prediction model generated 7.17% and r2 100%. The second scenario of model (66:34 yield <6%; 70:30 yield 6.01%-7.00%, 72.5:27.5 yield 7.01%-8.00% and 75:25yield >8.01%) and cash & carry scheme were selected for the gainsharing model among farmers and sugarcane industry. Institutional partnership model generated one sub of the objective key element, two subs of the constraint key element, four subs of the requirement key element and one sub of the actor key element.     PERLAKUAN AWAL JERAMI SORGUM SECARA BIOLOGIS DAN CO-DIGESTION DENGAN SLUDGE PADA PRODUKSI BIOGAS

    Partial oxidation pretreatment on sorghum straw using a consortium of microorganisms EM4 was done before used as raw material for production of biogas. Biogas production was performed by co-digestion method using sludge of waste water treatment plant. This research aimed to study the effect of sorghum straw and sludge ratio to the production of biogas by co-digestion method. Partial hydrolysis pretreatment using concentrations of EM4 0.0, 0.1, 0.5, and 1.0%. Pretreatment parameter measured was chemical oxygen demand dissolved (COD). The result of sorghum straw pretreatment was used as raw material for biogas production. Co-digestion method of sorghum straw and sludge was carried out by ratio variation of 80:20, 75:25, 70:30, and 65:35 (w/w). Parameters measured were cumulative biogas production (L/kg VS) and the composition of the biogas (CH4 and CO2). Results of partial oxidation pretreatment showed that the higher concentration of EM4 affected in higher levels of dissolved COD. Biogas production results by this pretreatment showed that the higher concentrations of EM4, the shorter adaptation phase of anaerobic microorganisms and higher production of biogas. The highest biogas production by co-digestion method was 371 L/kgVS, achieved by ratio of sorghum straw to sludge of 75:25 (w/w) in 65 days of fermentation. By using co-digestion method, biogas production increased 245-293%. From the results of this research note that biogas production on a pilot scale 25 L was lower than Erlenmeyer digester 0.5 L.Composition of biogas consisted of CH4 : CO2 76:26 and biogas was flammable.Keywords: sorghum straw, EM4, sludge, co-digestion, bioga

    INTEGRASI ANALISIS PRODUCT LIFE CYCLE DAN METODE AHP-TOPSIS DALAM PERUMUSAN STRATEGI PENGEMBANGAN PRODUK

    Product development is one of the effort of enterprises for competing. One of the way that can be used is product life cycle analysis. The objective of this research was to formulate strategy for the product development by applying product life cycle (PLC) analysis and Analytical Hierarchy Process- Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (AHP-TOPSIS). The analysis of PLC was used to determine product position in competitive environment. Next steps was analysing and choosing strategy alternative by AHP-TOPSIS method. The result of study showed that the integration PLC analysis with AHP-TOPSIS method could be used to formulate the strategy of product development comprehensively. The result of PLC analysis on the UKM X showed that position of product was in growth phase. The result of AHP-TOPSIS analysis showed factor with the highest priority for considering in formulating strategy of product development was consumer preferences (0.370) and cost of production (0.24).     Since 2006, Indonesia’s CPO production has surpassed Malaysia’s to be the world largest producer.Nevertheless, Indonesia is evidently lower in productivity. The expectation for new plantation is relatively highdue to the constant increasing demand for CPO, especially for biodiesel related purposes. North Sumateraprovince as the pioneer in palm oil plantation in Indonesia has huge potentials to grow in the future, with theexisting plantation land of 12.71% out of total plantation land in Indonesia. The idea of setting up NorthSumatera as a benchmark in national palm plantation industry is not impossible. For that reason, the plantationrevitalization program should be carried out. The aim of palm oil plantation revitalization program is toincrease competitiveness mainly by increasing productivity. This can be achieved not only through plantationland extent but also by increasing the land productivity per hectare. Hence, it is crucial that the process toidentify all possible efforts in order to increase palm oil plantation productivity in North Sumatera be carriedout. Identification process might start by analyzing all factors affecting palm oil plantation productivity by usinganalytical network process (ANP). Potential factors that have huge impact to increasing land productivity aresuch as plant diseases, seeding, fertilizer selection, fertilizer dosage, appropriate tools and equipment used, typeof land, fertilizing frequency, working procedures, weeding control, pest control, fertilizing technology and seedfertilizing. Population per hectare and plant uniformity up to 31.5%, and fertilizing at 27.6% would contributeas the main factors to be closely monitored and observed further in order to increase palm oil plantationproductivity.Keywords: Palm oil agroindustry, plantation revitalization, productivity, the pioneer in palm oil plantatio
