Kritik atas Kerancuan Pemahaman terhadap Istilah Takdir dan Sunatullah dalam Konteks Bencana Alam
This article is based on the ambiguous understanding of the terms destiny and sunatullah in the context of natural disasters. Where natural disasters are something that is commonplace for every human being. Because, every human being must have experienced, seen, or heard news about natural disasters. However, people\u27s responses have always been different, at least in three views. First, they assume that natural disasters are merely natural occurrences. Second, they assume that natural disasters are the result of human behavior. Third, they think it is part of God\u27s destiny and will. In relation to these three views, further criticism is needed so that there is no confusion of understanding. The question of natural disasters is destiny or sunnatullah? Some of these views certainly have consequences. This is the issue that will be discussed in this article. This research model is a qualitative research based on literature study. Meanwhile, the verses will be discussed using the thematic interpretation method
Konsep Ilmu dan Dua Tingkat Klasifikasinya Menurut Ibn Sina
The classification of the sciences is one of important topics in the Islamic intellectual history and has attracted the attention of philosophers, historians and even theologians, the great philosopher and polymath Abū ‘Alī Ibn Sina being no exception. However, despite some past studies which either focuses only to one or two works of Ibn Sina or else provides only a general description, still there are some lacunae regarding Ibn Sina’s classification of the sciences. In this article, the author is going to analyze historically and systematically two aspects of the topic: (1) Ibn Sina’s definition of science, and (2) Ibn Sina’s ‘primary’ and ‘secondary’ classification of the sciences. As for the sources, the analysis will be based on five Ibn Sina’s works that are representative of his early, middle and last career: Risālah fī Aqsām al-‘Ulūm al-‘Aqliyyah, ‘Uyūn al-Ḥikmah, al-Madkhal, al-Ilāhiyyāt and Manṭiq al-Masyriqiyyīn. The author will conclude with three conclusions: (1) that Ibn Sina’s general conception of science is teleological in nature; that is, it puts the emphasize more on the aim of the sciences to perfect the human soul rather than on the essence of science in itself; (2) that the teleological conception gives Ibn Sina’s classification of the sciences a general structure by making man as the positive principle in the primary classification; and (3) that there is an incoherence in Ibn Sina’s classification in that the object of metaphysics is too general that it might cover the object of other theoretical sciences and even also the objects of practical sciences
When ethnicity is stronger than religion: A look into Dayaks and Madurese Conflicts in Kalimantan, Indonesia
Although there are some incoming ethnicities in Borneo such as Malays, Chinese, Buginese, Javanese and Madurese, only with Madurese that the indigenous Dayaks conflicted with, despite being in the same faith that is Islam. This paper discusses ethnic conflict that occurred in Sambas District, West Borneo in 1999 between the indigenous Dayaks and the immigrant Madurese. Using Schmidt and Schroder’s (2001) framework of violent acts and social ramifications, this article looks into contributing factors of this conflict and how these factors interrelated. The study finds that Sambas outbreak was driven by an external factor such as central government’s transmigration policy that impacted on Dayak traditional lands and forests and economic deprivation. Additionally, there was also accumulating historical clash between Dayaks and Madurese, fueling the hatred toward the transmigrating group. An important finding to note is that Dayak Muslims and Malays also shared religious belief as do Dayak Muslims and Madurese, but they did not conflict with each other. This study suggests that ethnicity needs to be considered when dealing with conflicts in local areas, and state government should take into account the local political and economic constellation before enforcing transmigration policy
Genealogi Sanad dalam Perspektif Orientalis: Studi Kritik atas Pemikiran Michael Cook
This article review Michael Cook\u27s thoughts on the early history of the use of isnad. Michael Cook disagrees with the opinions of the hadith scholars who said that the system of isnad only exists in Islam and is not found in other religion. Michael Cook believes that Islam is not the only sole owner of the isnad system. Long before Islam came the system of isnad had been used by previous religion, it had been used by Jews in transmitting Mishnah. Moreover Michael Cook concluded that Islam had plagiarized the Jewish isnad system. The Islamic isnad system is very closely related to the Jewish isnad system which both have similarities in many thing. Therefore, Michael Cook believes that the Islamic isnad is a plagiarism of the Jewish isnad system. In this paper, the author analyzes Michael Cook\u27s thoughts. There are at least two main problems that the author examines, namely what and how are the fundamental ideas (main points) of Michael Cook related to the initial use of isnad? And the second, how is the methodological foundation of Jews in carrying out criticism of isnad

Respons Positif Teologi Kristen Protestan terhadap Sekularisasi Di Dunia Barat Modern
This article discusses how Protestant Christian theology responds to the strengthening of the secularization phenomenon. The positive response with various styles of theological reflection illustrates that the Protestant Christian theology figures above, starting from Karl Barth, Rudolf Bultmann, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Paul Tillich, are the efforts of theologians to try to bridge the gap or gap in cultural rationality between the cultures of the classical era in where the texts of the scriptures were written with modern Western culture today. These theologians include those who give a positive response in dealing with the phenomenon of secularization in the West. However, their response actually has a style that is more or less different in their way of thinking. Although Karl Barth proposed an advanced mode of reflection, he was still bound by his orthodoxy, so that he was nicknamed "neo-orthodox". Rudolf Bultmann was more liberal with his "Demythologized" ideas. Dietrich Bonhoeffer had already begun to advocate a secular Christian interpretation, and Paul Tillich had further advocated a correlational theological approach to religion and culture. Next, Harvey Cox further tries to construct a more comprehensive reflection of Secularization theology, that the secular world is a world in which Christians are mature people. As a sign, Jesus\u27 death on the cross is a symbol, that he has left his absoluteness, his supernatural being, to become a secular "God"

Menguji Ketercapaian Syarat-syarat Hadis Mutawatir (Kritik atas Temuan G.H.A. Juynboll)
This article aims to test the achievement of the requirements for mutawatir hadiths, which according to Juynboll’s view, in general, mutawatir transmissions will not be found in the Prophet\u27s hadiths. He said that mutawatir hadith only occurred in a limited number of cases with non-standard and not clearly structured criteria, and if all hadith transmitters were presented individually, then they could not be included in the mutawatir criteria. This article uses a qualitative method with data sources throughout the canonical and pre-canonical hadith books. After an in-depth study of all the transmission lines, this article concludes that what Juynboll concluded was incorrect. This article found that the hadith about washing the khuffayn qualifies as a mutawatir hadith as required by Ibn Hajar
