Manajemen Konflik Negara terhadap Masyarakat Multikultural: Kasus Komunitas Muslim Australia

    No full text
The diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious social reality of the Australian population, as a consequence of the open immigration policy in the 1960s, has prompted the Australian government to engage in social and political engineering by adopting multiculturalism as a state ideology. This policy aims to mitigate conflicting values and norms among the white population on one side and immigrants on the other. Australia seems to have successfully managed various conflicts, indicated by the low potential for political, ethnic, and religious violence, including terrorism, compared to other countries, especially its neighbors. The implications of multiculturalism are also evident in the development of the Australian Muslim community, as well as other ethnic and religious communities, which have preserved their cultural heritage and continue to thrive today, albeit still suspected of having potential conflicts

Relasi antar Agama dalam Perspektif Fiqih

There is a correlation between one\u27s religious understanding and their attitude towards other religions. An exclusive understanding of religion has triggered the emergence of religious egocentrism, which considers other religions as wrong. This attitude is mainly fueled by a legalistic orientation that tends to be black and white and denies the truth of others. It is this biased legalistic orientation that needs to be reconstructed so that one-sided and exclusive understandings of religion can dissolve, ultimately breaking the rigidity of interactions between religious communities that have often been the seeds of unnecessary humanitarian tragedies. And this is the overarching theme that this journal seeks to address for the sake of peace on the earth we all inhabit together

Menguak Hadis Palsu yang Masyhur: Upaya Autentifikasi Sabda Nabi

    No full text
So far, hadith has been a theological reference to strengthen religious behavior. It is often used as motivation to foster religious enthusiasm related to the social dimension. From there emerge hadiths that are so familiar to the ears of Muslims, as they are often conveyed and directly related to social issues. However, the fame of a hadith often closes our concern to critically assess the status of the hadith. This paper attempts to critically examine the highly popular hadiths in society to see the extent of their authenticity. All of this needs to be done as an effort to place the hadith clearly and authentically and to distinguish between the words and the chain of words

Meretas Akar Konflik dan Kekerasan: Refleksi Protestan

More than half of the violence and warfare in this world are actually motivated and justified by religion! Therefore, how can religion become a catalyst for peace amidst this culture of violence and warfare? The peace referred to here is a situation where everyone can enjoy freedom, justice, equality, and brotherhood with one another. The root of conflict and violence among various religious communities arises from both theological and non-theological issues. Among these sources, the main one is the unpreparedness of religious communities to live in a multicultural society and world. When rationality fails to realize its vision in building a civilization full of peace, religion is once again challenged to prove its prophetic role in creating peace in this world. Thus, dialogue becomes crucial in building that peace, but it must be placed within a soteriological framework, namely salvation: the salvation of humanity which includes freedom, justice, equality, peace, and the salvation of the earth and this planet. Dialogues like this certainly enrich and become a blessing for all creatures

Ruh Menurut Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah dalam Perspektif Psikologi

    No full text
Throughout history, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah has been recognized as a Muslim intellectual figure who lived amidst the stagnation of thought, amidst the overwhelming scripturalism. Ibn Qayyim, however, unveiled this stagnation and scripturalism by unraveling the essence of human existence claimed by God Himself, namely the issue of the soul. Ibn Qayyim’s in-depth study of the soul is captured in his book titled Kitab al-Ruh. It is a document of knowledge that views the soul as a unique structure of human self compared to the body. This study examines Ibn Qayyim’s paradigm of the soul in its relevance to psychology. To what extent does Ibn Qayyim’s concept of the soul contribute to and intersect with the discourse of psychology

The development of philosophy in Islam did not emerge from a vacuum. It is an accumulation of interactions from various civilizations triggered by the evolution of discourse within Islam. Theological issues certainly occupy a significant position in the religious discourse structure. However, it cannot be denied that political, cultural, and other social aspects also play a role in the continuity of discourse and philosophical tradition in Islam. Hence, theological controversies arising from hermeneutic differentiations of religious texts become inevitable. The following article discusses the intersections among diverse civilizations that contribute to the development of philosophy in Islam

This article reviews the book by David G. Myers titled “Intuition: Its Powers and Perils.” The book explains the existence of two influential schools of thought, rationalism emphasizing reason and empiricism focusing on sensory experience. Both have given rise to different disciplines of science. Rationalism, with its deductive method, has produced exact sciences, while empiricism, with its inductive method, has given birth to natural sciences. These two schools of thought—Rationalism and Empiricism—have shaped Western thinking for three centuries and have led to remarkable advances in science and technology

Fenomena al-Qur’an: Tafsir Integral Malik Bennabi

This article delves into the pattern of interpretation or approach taken by Malik Bennabi in understanding the Qur\u27an. Malik Bennabi\u27s approach to revelation is integral in nature. By examining Malik\u27s work, "The Phenomenon of the Qur\u27an," Usman draws the conclusion that Malik Bennabi successfully provided a mature response to the challenges posed by Western philosophy and thought in viewing the Qur\u27an. By positioning the Qur\u27anic revelation as an objective phenomenon that transcends all historical contexts and various forms of socio-cultural backgrounds, Malik Bennabi was able to address Orientalists who denied and sought to sow doubts about the truth of the Qur\u27an as the revelation of God. Malik Bennabi responded to Margelyouth (an English Orientalist) and his colleagues who regarded the Qur\u27an as a product of Prophet Muhammad or a copy of the Torah and the Gospel, or who claimed that the Qur\u27an was influenced by both of these covenant books. Through his work, Malik Bennabi also indirectly rejected the philology of Christoph Luxenberg (a German Orientalist) who came much later, accusing the Qur\u27an of being originally written in Aramaic rather than Arabic

Manusia Sempurna: Studi atas Konsep Manusia Multi Dimensi Menurut Murtadha Muthahhari

    No full text
This article discusses Murtadha Muthahhari’s ideas about the perfect or multidimensional human and the methods to develop these dimensions to attain the status of a perfect human. Murtadha Muthahhari argues that humans consist of two main elements, namely the individual and personality (body and soul, or physical and mental). These two elements have very different qualities and characteristics. The soul element is eternal and always drives humans to do good, maintain purity and honor, and always desire closeness to God. Meanwhile, the bodily or physical element, in contrast to the soul element, drives humans to fulfill material needs and tends towards lowliness, degradation, and even distance from God
