    Managing Stock In Warehouse: A Case Study of A Retail Industry In Jakarta

    Abstract. Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to inform the warehouse management of PT. Chintaka Bumi Pertiwi, so that the company knows which processes or activities within the current warehouse work process is having problems in terms of performance or causing stock inaccuracy and to propose solution of the problems. Methodology / Approach – The methodology used for research is by interviewing the Logistics and Shipment Chief, Supervisor, and Administrator of PT. Chintaka Bumi Pertiwi warehouse resulting in the current warehouse work process, implemented SOP, number of goods lost during stock inaccuracy, number of inaccuracy case, types of goods lost, warehouse layout, goods placement. The data from interview process then compared to the actual data gathered through direct observation to identify current problems occurring and to see whether there are connections between these data. The compared result of both data collection then analyzed to see the real cause of problems within the company and the proper solution on how to improve current system by solving the identified problem. Last, recommendations will be given to the company on how to do the proposed solutions before and during the implementation. Findings – The inaccuracy case of the company increased by 11.3% with approximate value loss due to goods lost during the stock inaccuracy case in summed up around 30 million Rupiah. The current work processes is experiencing problems caused by procedure, company regulations, and the level of control applied within storage section. Research Limitation – The limitation of this research is the product types, which are CBK4401, CBK3402, CBK6402, CBG6301, CBG6302, and CBG1305 with the highest amount of inaccuracy case among other products; only focusing on the work processes of the warehouse; and the data from 2013 to 2014

    Business-Level Strategy Analysis and Planning Case: "Ducreme" Startup Company

    Abstract - The first year of startup business operated is a crucial year where the business success rate is low. The success of a startup business is determined by business-level strategy that can be implemented to existing market condition and market competition. Food and beverage business in Bandung is very competitive, so startup company need the right strategy in order to survive in this competitive market. Ducreme is a startup company that was established in February 2015. The Ducreme\u27s vision is to create acceptable innovative food and beverage products to satisfy customers so that it can enter the national retail market in the future. The main product of Ducreme is milk tea with six variant flavors.This research is made to analyze the startup business-level strategy, and the results of the strategy\u27s implementation to the performance of business startup for the first year its operates. Ducreme choose to implement differentiation strategy due to its strength to create innovative product. In general, Ducreme can grow in food and beverage market that is already competitive and its products can be accepted by customers. The results of this analysis showed that the startup company\u27s sales performance is very depended on the distributor. The positive impact of the cooperation with the distributor is a broader marketing area coverage to reach more customers. The negative impact of this dependence is the decline in sales when there are problems happen to distributor so they can’t perform in sales. Culinary exhibition also gives a significant impact on sales because of greater margin obtained due to price mark-up.After analyze and make conclusions on the Ducreme performance, the author make recomendation of business and functional-level strategy plan for the second year based on the results of the performance analysis in the first year by considering company internal condition. This strategy is expected to increase Ducreme performance in order to face competitive market.In 2016, Ducreme choose to implement focused differentiation strategy in order to maximize their strength in already competitive market. Ducreme wants to develop new product in sachet package ready to brewed. This product will be targeted to B2B customers. The market size of this product is not large enough compared to the mass market that has been taken by the product in bottle package, but it is more profitable market in terms of quantity and sales turnover if Ducreme could established cooperation with the B2B customer.For the existing bottled-product recommendations; (1) Ducreme should participate in more culinary event to gain more profit and to increase brand awareness, (2) Ducreme should try another marketing methods so that do not rely only on existing channels. This recommendation to avoid decreasing in sales due to reseller/distributor problem, (3) Ducreme should increase the number of channel distribution to increase more sales, (4) Ducreme should optimize its social media because it has not been fully utilized to increase brand awareness, and (5) Ducreme should try to increase brand awareness by using the selebgram endorse.For the planned sachet product recommendations; (1) Ducreme should develop a product that is acceptable to B2B market segment. This should consider quality and price level acceptance of customers, (2) Ducreme should create a list of potential B2B prospects that are ready to be product sampled before product launched to the market, (3) Feedback generated is used to develop products to fit with the majority of the target market’s preference, and (4) Ducreme should spread product proposals and product samples to the target market, and follow up who interested to products.Keywords: Business-level Strategy, Functional-level Strategy, Business Performance, Startup BusinessÂ

    Strengthening Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) towards ASEAN Economic Community

    Abstract- This study addressed the issue of the AEC implementation by researching this topic focused into case study of SMEs ceramic cluster which located in Kiaracondong, Bandung. Purposively, this used aimed to strengthen SMEs toward the AEC implementation. To achieve that aim, this study used qualitative analysis by conducting interview into four SMEs respondents in that cluster. Additionally, this study also interviewed two related government institutions. Initially, this study analyzed the internal firm condition through three components, which are firm performance in the domestic market, awareness and readiness toward AEC, and internationalization drivers and barriers. Then, this study also investigated government roles in supporting SMEs toward the AEC. After analyzing and evaluating internal firm condition and government roles, this study also conducted strategy formulation analysis. This used identified and summarized factors in the previous analysis as the main inputs for the strategy. This study conducted PEST, SWOT, and TOWS analysis. As the results, this study recommended SMEs to focus on actively utilizing internet as direct promotional tools and changing their production process from full manual technique into adapting molding technique. This strategies used to be competitive in the current market.     Comparison Between Advertising On Television And Social Media Toward Purchase Intention

    Abstract. In this new era, there has been a shift on media. Social media is the new media which growing rapidly, and it used as media advertising. Now, people spent more time with social media than watching television. This study was the comparison of consumer response to advertising on television and social media to purchase intention. This result can be used to maximize the advertising medium that will be used by a company in this era that have been developed. This study uses a variable of the previous research framework that examines the relationship between advertising to the consumer purchase intention through attitude. Researchers using an experimental study to compare the response of the respondent. The researcher want to compare the advertising on television and social media to purchase intention. The study was conducted on three generations X , Y , and Z. Each generation is represented by five people. It is intended that each generation has its representatives. Data will be processed using statistical analysis Independent T-test and paired T-test. The results of this study indicate there is a differences between consumer response to purchase intention on advertising in media television and social media.     The Implementation of Benjamin Graham Criteria (A Case in Indonesia Market)

    Abstract. Utilizing data of publicly listed companies on the Indonesian Stock Exchange for the period spanning from 2006 to 2015, the present study examines the profitability of stock selection criteria of Benjamin Graham in the Indonesian capital market. The different risk-reward combinations of the 10 Benjamin Graham Criteria and the minimum number of criteria to be fulfilled by a stock in order to provide excess returns to the investor are examined using independent sample T-test, Sharpe ratio, Treynor ratio and the capital asset pricing model (CAPM). The results show ample evidence that almost all of the risk-reward combinations proposed by Benjamin Graham can be used by investors in order to obtain excess returns except for the combination of discount to net current asset value (NCAV) and consistent past earnings growth. Furthermore, stocks which meet at least two Graham criteria can yield excess returns to investors if such stocks are held for the period of 24 months. Additionally the more Graham criteria which a stock fulfill, the more likely that the stock will generate positive excess return to the investor.Keywords: Benjamin Graham, value investin

    Abstract. This research devoted to evaluate the business strategy that currently being used by Kedai Papa Liem, a small restaurant that serve for all day dining occasion from breakfast until dinner. The restaurant purposely located near Setra Duta Real Estate main gate to scoop up all residents that lived inside Setra Duta Real Estate that said to be Kedai Papa Liem’s main target market. Kedai Papa Liem first opening was in late-November 2013. They received a good response from the market. But since mid-January 2014 Kedai Papa Liem faces some difficulty to growth. The market started to saturated along with many new restaurant that opened around Pasteur road. Moreover those new restaurants are popular in Jakarta, so it attract many people included Setra Duta Resident which is Kedai Papa Liem’s main customer to try them. This condition would disturb their plan to hold a Grand Opening in early February 2014, to celebrate Chinese New Year.The main problem they encountered was from internal factor, which is bad human resources management and business process. The other factor was because of the competition of Restaurant Industry in Bandung that keep tightens. On other hand she has a chance to broaden the market reach of her restaurant. Seeing the growth opportunities that available to grow her business, she start to think whether her restaurant able to be developed and how to do it.To start the research, first thing to do was analyzed internal and external factor that influenced Kedai Papa Liem’s performance. The result would be used as the basis for EFAS and IFAS calculation to determine what directional strategy that suitable for corporate level. After that Business Strategy determined through Porter Competitive analysis with cost production and market size as the consideration. Last, TOWS matrix analysis would be conducted to determine functional strategies that used for each division in Kedai Papa Liem.The results were showing that Kedai Papa Liem could develop their business by using Growth Strategy because both result of IFAS and EFAS calculations showing positive number. On other hand, Business Strategy that suitable for Kedai Papa Liem was Integrated Competitive Strategy. This strategy would be used to win the competition among other restaurant so their sales performance will be To support their development plan in expansion, they should have more market share in Bandung’s Restaurant Industry by provide more variant in product, with more affordable price than their competitors.Keyword: Strategic Management, Restaurant

    Trend Ratio Analysis on Banking Companies Listed in LQ45 Period of 2009 - 2013

    Abstract. Every company needs a strategy designed to achieve the vision and objectives of the company, which must be appropriated to the demands of the existing business environment. One of the strategy that must be considered by company is the effort to attract investors.This research focuses on the trend of each financial ratio analysis, calculation of financial ratios investors processed in accordance with existing formulations, i.e: capital adequacy ratio (CAR), cost to income (CIR), net income margin (NIM), non performing loan (NPL), loan to deposit ratio (LDR), and return on asset (ROA). Making conclusion taken from the result of the analysis, based on the analysis, conclusion be obtained from testing expert’s theory with researcher allegation along with facts on the field. Each of the financial ratios that have been calculated will determine the year base as basis of comparison and given the index number 100. Population of this research are all banking companies listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange. Purposive sampling used as the sampling technique, using random type of sample selection with certain consideration to be sample. As of the consideration, the company must be listed in Indonesia Stock Exchange period of 2009 – 2013, and listed five years respectively in LQ45 index. With the result are Bank Central Asia, Tbk, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero), Tbk, Bank Danamon Indonesia, Tbk, and Bank Mandiri (Persero), Tbk.After forecasting using trend analysis (time series analysis) then the result are as follows, in 2014 and 2015 company with highest CAR prediction is Bank Rakyat Indonesia.     Evaluating the Effectiveness of Business plan Approach for First Time Entrepreneurs Case Study: IBE SBM ITB

    Abstract-This research is a preliminary research into finding out the best approach for first time entrepreneur to start their business. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of business plan approach for first time entrepreneur to reach a desire product/market fit by evaluating the outcome of IBE program. It is important to know if the approach that used in the IBE program can generate product market fit so it can be produce a good business plan and worthy funded. According to result of this research revealed that the approach used in the IBE programs have not been effective to find a product market fit for their business. The result of program evaluation with using CIPP Evaluation Model proves that still a lack of understanding of the market, resulting in strategy and business plan being developed inaccurate and many changes when execution. And at the end of the IBE program, it turns out they are also still not get the products that fit the market, resulting in most of them do not continue the business. So, it necessary to a renewed focus on IBE programs that better understanding of the market, so it can produce more effective business plan that will make it easier to execution and future business progression. Keywords: Business plan approach, product market fit, program evaluatio

    Human Capital Management Adopted by SLB-D YPAC Bandung

    Abstract- The objective of the study was to determine the extent to which the SLB-D YPAC BANDUNG had adopted the Human Capital Management (HCM) practices. The HCM practices that were explored include: resourcing, strategies, talent management, learning and development, and performance and reward management strategies. The study used the case study design that was based on a target population of 30 people in the school. A sample of twenty nine (29) staff, just excluding the headmaster was selected. Data collection instruments used by the study were an interview guide and a questionnaire. However, a substantial amount of data was collected through documentary analysis. A response rate of 100% was achieved by the questionnaire technique, while one of the four interviewee sampled were interviewed. Both content and quantitative analysis were used to analyze data which was then presented in frequency tables, percentages, rank ordering, and mean scores and standard deviation. Overall, the findings of the study indicate that the organization has implemented HCM practices, but to a negligible extent. Some of the HCM practices adopted by the organization include: : effective communication channel, equipping them with competencies required to achieve the organizational goal, and Explaining organization mission, vision, and value to the staff. However, the rest of the practices have either not been adopted or are adopted to a negligible extent. The study also suggests that there is need for further research, particularly in the area of human capital measurement, since the organization didn’t use any tool available and the continued applied research for when the organization had implemented a clear human capital measurement. Keywords: Human capital management, competitive advantage, human capital advantage, intangible assets and human capital planning.Category: Performance Management, Human Resource Managemen
