Solution Focused Brief Counseling in Reducing Distress for Mothers Who Accompany Children Studying from Home During the COVID-19 Pandemic: An Embedded Mixed Method Research
The existence of an online or distance learning policy as an effort to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus raises problems for parents, especially mothers who play a role while accompanying children to learn from home. Parenting that is closer to the mother causes the mother to have additional duties and roles. Various existing conditions cause distress such as the emergence of anxiety, and frustration due to role conflict, fatigue, and the emergence of physical illness. The Solution Focused Brief Counseling (SFBC) approach is an alternative solution to reduce maternal distress. The purpose of the study was to find out to what extent SFBC in mothers who accompany children to study from home during the COVID-19 pandemic can be effective in reducing distress. The research participants were seven working mothers who accompany early childhood learning from home and have close parenting with their mothers. The research design uses an embedded mixed method design, by combining quantitative statistical results (experiments) with qualitative findings (descriptive case studies). Quantitative data were analyzed using non-parametric Wilcoxon statistical analysis and descriptive qualitative data. The results showed that SFBC is effective in reducing distress, reinforced by symptoms of decreased distress in the mother. Physically, not susceptible to disease. Psychologically, sleep patterns become more regular, concentrate, are more patient, reduce impulsivity and anxiety, and can understand and find alternative solutions to the problem. SFBC is a solution to reduce symptoms of distress in mothers who accompany children to learn from home
The Effectiveness of Guidance and Counseling Services in Schools in the New Normal Era
The new normal era resulted in paralysis in various sectors, such as education, health, and economics. The social distancing policy has also brought about the closure of schools by implementing learning from home or online. Thus, various problems arise, experienced by teachers, students, and even guardians of students. In addition, guidance and counseling are also impacted by this policy. For this reason, this study aims to describe the application of guidance and counseling services in the new normal era and see how effective the services provided are. This type of research used descriptive qualitative research and focused on phenomenological studies. The research subjects were two guidance and counseling teachers and two students. Observation, interview, and documentation techniques were employed as data collection techniques. To determine the data validity, the researchers used technical and source triangulations. The results of this study revealed that the guidance and counseling services run were not effective. It was because several problems were experienced by schools, such as online learning policies, the lack of a ratio of the number of guidance and counseling teachers to the number of students, and the lack of socialization about the role of guidance and counseling

This research is motivated by the rise of violence cases experienced by women. Domestic violence against women is very vulnerable due to the urge present in the perpetrators to behave aggressively because of the stressors they are facing and the widespread belief in a patriarchal culture, which is the root cause of violence between husband and wife. In this case, Islamic feminist counseling seeks to recover and reduce depression in women victims of violence by building awareness of their gender roles based on an Islamic perspective. Therefore, this research aims to discover how Islamic feminist counseling can heal the trauma of women victims of domestic violence. This research was conducted through a qualitative approach. The data collection techniques used were document study, observation, and in-depth interviews, with two counselees (using pseudonyms in this article) in domestic violence cases. The data validity technique employed in this study was a triangulation of data collection techniques and data sources, while data analysis was performed deductively and inductively. The results revealed that the counselor carried out three stages of Islamic feminist counseling: conceptualization, intervention, and termination. At all stages, the counselor has achieved each stage’s goals, although with different techniques for the two counselees at each counseling stage.
Muhasabah Through Self Talk Techniques to Reduce Students' Anxiety in Completing The Thesis
Negative anxiety can make students lazy in doing thesis, lose motivation, and even delay completing it. The main objective of this research is to reduce students' anxiety in completing the final project through reflection with the Selftalk technique. The research method uses an experiment with a "non-equivalent group pretest-posttest control design" design. The sample in this study came from FKIP UNISRI students who were taken using purposive random sampling technique. The data analysis technique used the Wilcoxon test formula. The significance value of the experimental group is 0.005 < 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that reflection through self-talk techniques is effective in reducing student anxiety in completing the final project
