    Abstract.In general, mathematics learning at schools is still a teacher centered, so the students become less active in teaching-learning process. Beside that, the students are also never given a problem-solving work done in groups. It causes the students become passive and just listen to the teacher’s explanation. It makes the students bored and invites difficulties in learning mathematics. It also causes the low score of the student learningachievement. Therefore, it needs a development of learning by applying a problem-solving approach as Polya says about square and rectangular objects to improve the student learning achievement of class VII B in SMP Negeri 10 Jember 2012/2013 academic year. Polya says, in a problem-solving approach, there are four steps, include: understanding the problem, devising a plan, carring out the plan, and looking back. Based on the research, the application of problem-solving approach, as Polya underlines, is effective to improve the student learning achievement in square and rectangularobjects. It is proved by the result of student learning achievement, which is from 58,33% to 88,89%. Key Words:Polya’s problem solving approach, square and rectangular, student learning achievement

    Abstract.The research purpose are knowing process and result of development of mathematics learning materials by CTL ( Contextual Teaching and Learning) and problem solving with Polya Method. This research was held in SMPN 10 Jember at seventh grade. The topic of this research is resolving problem related to quadrilateral. The research has product namely Lesson Plan, worksheet, and evaluation test.The development of this learning materials refers to Plomp model which has 5 phases. They are phases of preliminary investigation; phase of design; phase of realization or contruction; phase of test, evaluation and revision; and phase of implementation.The learning material is said good if it satisfies 3 criterias.     Abstrak. Sebagai guru kita menyadari bahwa Matematika cenderung dipandang sebagai mata peljaran yang dianggap sulit, ditakuti dan kalau bisa dihindari oleh sebagian siswa. Padahal siswa seharus nya menyadari kemampuan berfikir logis, rasional, kritis, cermat dan efektif adalah menjadi ciri pengajaran matematika. Karena itu kreatifitas sebagai guru dalam mengajarkan matematika akan menjadi faktor kunci agar matematika menjadi pelajaran yang menarik didalam kelas, tidak lagi ditakuti dan dihindari. Untuk itu tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah bagaimana seorang guru bisa menjadikan siswa tertarik dalam mempelajarai matematika dengan cara memperbaiki cara pembelajaran, tekhnik mengajar dan lain-lain. Sehingga pada Kompetensi Dasar Menggunakan bentuk aljabar untuk memecahkan masalah, termasuk masalah aritmatika, akan lebih menarik dipelajari oleh siswa dan juga mudah dipahami. Selanjutnya kita akan tahu upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan dan kreatifitas dalam menyelesaikan soal cerita. Sedangkan siswa yang menjadi obyek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Mumbulsari. Dari hasil penelitian terungkap bahwa masih banyak siswa yang masih merasa kesulitan untuk menyelesaikan soal cerita. Sehingga penulis tertarik untuk menelitinya, dan ternyata faktor utamanya adalah terletak bagaimana cara kita kita menyampaikan dan memberi metode pengerjaannya, Agar mudah dipahami oleh siswa. Dengan menggunakan metode pemodelan Matematika akan mempermudah siswa mengubah bentuk cerita ke dalam kalimat matematikan dalam bentuk aljabar.     Abstract.The purpose of this researchis to helpsstudent to build their understanding about story termand up their problem solving. This research type of Classroom Actions Research (CAR) using Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition model with Polya’s method in fraction operations at VII-D grade of SMP Negeri 2 Arjasa. The research has two cycleswhich has devising a plan, action, observation, and reflection for each cycle.Data collected by documentation, observation, test and interview method. The data observation showed increasing about teacher’s activity and student’s activity from 1st cycle to 2nd cycle. The student’s learning in 1st cycle showed that 29 students completed and 11 students not completed. So, the classical completion results that class uncompleted with percentage 72,5%. But the student’s learning result of 2nd cycle showed a good progress andclass completed with percentage 82,5%.     Abstrack: This research type of this research is Classroom Actions Research which consist of two cycles, there are two class in each cycles. The data collection methods are interview, documentation, observation, and test. The purpose of this research is to reduce students’ mistake during solving problem in the triangle and quadrilateral topic. We will use Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model in each meetings. The subject of research is students of VII D class SMPN 7 Jember in academic year 2012/2013. The data we analys are teacher’s and students’ learning activities, the percentage of student’s mistake, and the effectivity of MMP. The result of research indicate that the result of learning activity increase of student’s activity of cycle I reach 82,4% and cycle II reach 92,0%. While the student’s mistakes of final test at cycle I reach 50,5% and cycle II 28,6%. So, the mode of teaching can increase student’s activity and decrease the student’s mistakes.     Abstract.The goal of this research aims to know the process and the result of developmental Realistic Mathematics Educatioan Instruments by think pair share setting for square and rectangle topics at seven grade junior high school. Learning instrument development model refers to four D models. The products of this research are lesson plan, student book, worksheet, and evaluation test.     Abstract. The research aims to know the application of Two Stay Two Stray teaching for decrease student’s mistakes for surface area and volume of the beam topic at eight grade of junior high school. Two Stay Two Stray teaching provide an opportunity for groups to share results and information with other groups. The subject of research is students of VIII B class SMPN 7Jember in even semester academic year 2012/ 2013. The kinds of student’s mistakes consist of error using data, error of theorem or definition, technical errors, and another mistakes. This research design is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the method of data collecting using observation, interview, test and documentation. The result of research indicate that the result of learning activity increase of student’s activity in cycle I reach 73,06% whereas in cycle II reach 85,39% . While the student’s mistakes at cycle I reach 71.88% and cycle II 17,43%. So, the mode of teaching can increase student’s activity and decrease the student’s mistakes.     Abstract.This study aimed to know the application of quantum teaching in improving student’s mistakes for social arithmetic topic at seventh grade of juniorhigh school. This study involved grade VIID of SMPN 7 Jember school year 2013/2014 . The research method is a classroom action research. There are four type of student’s mistake, namely the error of using a data, the error of theorem and definition application, technical error, inference error. The result shows that the total error at cycle I reach 38,21% and cycle II reach 28,45%. While the student’s activity of cycle I is 88,86% and cycle II 93,90%.     Abstract: The research aims to know the application of M-APOS for overcome student’s mistakes aboutvolume of cube and cuboidtopic at eight grade of juniorhigh school. M-APOS is development of APOS theory. M-APOS using ACE teaching cycle that consists of three components: activities, classroom discussion, and exercises. The subject of research is students of VIII E class SMPN 7 Jember in even semester academic year 2012/ 2013. The kinds of student’s mistakes consist of error using data, error of theorem or definition, technical errors, and another mistakes. This research design is Classroom Action Research (CAR) and the method of data collecting using observation, interview, test and documentation. The result of research indicate that the result of learning activity increase of student’s activity of cycle I reach 82,2% and cycle II reach 85,8%. While the student’s mistakes at cycle I reach 17,4% and cycle II 8,55%. So, the mode of teaching can increase student’s activity and decrease the student’s mistakes.
