ABSORPSI KULTURAL: FETISHISASI KOMODITAS KOPI
Get PDFCoffee in everyday life of the society can not be separated from the contextualizing and and marginality placing it in the market. What makes it attractive to market is part of the formation of cultural values. The consequences of the emergence of cultural values are the presence of the cultural absorption of the locality to be displayed as part of globality. Coffee culture of the indigenous people of Using, is diametrically located in the global cultural space. The Using people who have been formed by agrarian culture running under the modernization looks stumbling when it is displayed as global. It starts with the formation of culture that is slowly changing self-awareness of indigenous peoples and accompanied by accelerated commodification of local culture. Coffee culture that comes from the local, at the same time faced with the presence of commodities and cultural formations to enjoy it. The coffee culture locality of the customary indigenous community formed within the marginality of the cultural taste to display the dominant and market oriented one. While the formation of postcolonial subjects who were trapped in the cracks of origin of awareness and articulation of cultural banality becomes commonly observable as part of the everyday practices of the people of Banyuwangi.

Get PDFTechnological development and change in the broadcasting regulation cause television stations in Indonesia to modify their broadcasting strategy. One of the alternatives is to distribute broadcast television content into the online path through user generated content sites such as Youtube. In addition to getting free broadcast path and reach a wider audience, ease of access also monetize broadcast channel in order to earn advertising revenue from every impression through the online. The government regulation of changing broadcast technique from digital to analog lines, still has not been fully successful. It becomes the easiest way out for local television stations of Jember whose capital is limited to switch from analog broadcasting method to cheap or even free digital broadcasting. With an online distribution, television stations can distribute contents and accessible to viewers through digital devices in a more flexible way, as long as connected to the internet. Strong nation integrity and identity or personality are necessary for intercultural meeting to run well, living in harmony, and mutual respect. The results of the study on ancient texts, written and oral- show that cultural heritage can provide added value to the lives of modern people today. Texts like Tantu Panggelaran and Usana Bali need to continue to get their meaning by each generation. The results of the analysis of the two texts show that the majesty of ancient civilizations is able to create a frame of togetherness, social and geographic frames, and cross-border regions and countries geopolitics. The frame as a mythology that directs how to get a togetherness creating the names of the mountains, areas, villages, rivers, and religious understandings. That is the meaning of togetherness and prosperity that will be achieved (jagathita) or happiness in the universe.

RITUAL USING DAN JAWA: MITOS HIBRIDITAS BUDAYA SEBAGAI INTEGRASI DAN HARMONI SOSIAL
Get PDFThis paper aims to find a migration culture that looks at the rites as a manifestation of the religiosity of society. This is expressed in various ways, according to the natural environment, social customs and community supporters. Data were analyzed by using an ethnographic method. A literature study was followed by field research. Meaning was done by looking at the relationship among the data to get a comprehensive conclusion. The results showed that Banyuwangi seblang and Nini Thowong of Yogyakarta rooted in rural agrarian culture. It looks at the materials, accessories, and the content of the songs used to accompany the dance movements of both. The differences of the two dances are as follow. Seblang perpetrators are women, and become a rite that was placed as part of a cleansing ceremony of the village, and the time and place are determined by custom implementation. Nini Thowong performance with actors as a transfer media of female doll spirit is a tradition art to entertain. Get PDFShadow puppet is one of Indonesian traditional arts which has received recognition from UNESCO as a Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. Shadow puppet is a blend of art, movement, verbal oral, music, and song. The focus of the study in this paper emphasizes on the verbal aspect in the art of shadow pupper tradition called Janturan and tradition song. Both types of verbal aspect are working to build up a certain atmosphere, such as peace, sad, crowded, intimidating, and angry. Therefore, the lingual units are spoken rhythmically and uses the choice of words having the power of the aesthetic in terms of sound and meaning. In addition, the verbal aspect is also to mark the change of time, part of the story, and the transition of gending. All of it is a convention that has become a common understanding between the puppeteers, musicians, and sinden ‘singer’. No full textMass media such as television, it can simply be defined as one of the instruments which reinforce efforts in the realization of human-related obsessions certain aspects, such as art. The art form of indigenous territories, such as performing arts and cultural image representation of complex societies, especially the creative process in the art community. The results are reflected in the creative community is a form of performing art that is inseparable from the process dependence, experiences shared, and collaboration among members of the various communities. The process that takes place at the level of larger, complex, and increasingly not much hampered by physical barriers to be the reason that the traditional performing arts worthy of competing and widely publicized. Local television is a means of publicity and promotion of traditional performing arts, the most effective given the role on television today have massive strength in delivering a variety of impressions to the community. This study is a follow-up, which has the form of the model output shows the traditional performing arts in a television documentary format. Documentary television is a format appropriate to revive the “breath” of traditional performing arts in the area of media globalization.

Get PDFThere are two important things in Indonesian culture and their relationships to one another, namely the diversity of Indonesian culture and the meaning of cultural diversity for the development of Indonesian culture. In Indonesia cultural diversity is a reality and facts, but also the ideology of nation and state. Therefore, diversity is one of the main characteristics of Indonesian society, both on the outer (physical), and the inner (spiritual). This has a profound impact on the way in which the Indonesians address diversity and difference in everyday life. On the one hand, diversity then takes a form of values that guide the people of Indonesia to address the wide range of diversity and differences, as well as a variety of behavior patterns that are open to it. On the other hand, it manifests itself in a variety of creative culture that is very diverse and hybrid in pattern. In such situations, the authenticity and origins of the elements of foreign culture that come to Indonesia are not considered to be very important. Even more important is the role or the contribution of the various elements of foreign cultures to the development of local and national cultures of Indonesia, as well as for the Indonesian people wherever they are.

Get PDFThe newspaper is as an institution which plays an important information provider in the construction of the structure of government, politics, law, economics, education, and culture.It serves commodification measures to safeguard the existence and to maximize profits. The research in the study of culture and media frames uses commodification theory and applies critical discourse analysis of Norman Fairclough. The study found that Jawa Pos has done process of commodification of young people in the newspaper business. This is done to young children who have great potentials for business development. The commodification was carried out through page “Detection” which has as one of its programs, Development Basketball League competition. Jawa Pos run a process of hegemony on younger children sooftly by introducing, shaping, and instilling a compelling discourse and encouraging their participation. It increases the image and circulation of Jawa Pos which maximize its finacial benefit.Keywords: young people, commodification, modern, Americanize
