a path leading to improvement of musical expression techniques and skills thanks to a deeper connection of body and mind
Ve své diplomové práci představuji aspekty a provázanost kognitivních a fyziologických procesů při hudební přípravě a produkci, umožňující hudebníkům hlubší pochopení jejich významu a účinků při hudebním projevu – svá zjištění z různých vědeckých oborů integruji do harmonického celku se záměrem usnadnit hudebníkům nalezení jedinečné a efektivní cesty k hudební přípravě.
Práce vznikla na základě výzkumné studie, jejímuž vytvoření předcházelo soustavné a intenzivní bádání a shromažďování poznatků z uměleckých i vědeckých sfér. Značný objem informací jsem komprimoval do podoby studie a následně rozšířil o praktické tipy a příklady cvičení pro studenty melodických bicích nástrojů.
V práci prezentuji fakta a metody vedoucí k patřičnému propojení těla a mysli, uvolněnosti a lehkosti při hudebním projevu, respektive dalšímu hudebně-duševnímu vývoji. Účelem této diplomové práce není snaha o předložení přelomových zjištění či univerzálních řešení v oblasti optimální umělecké přípravy, nýbrž uvedení jednoduchých a funkčních mechanismů v širších souvislostech, a to optikou prakticky a studijně aktivního soudobého umělce.
Soustavné ověřování poznatků v praxi mě dovedlo k přesvědčení, že výsledky výzkumu využité v umělecké oblasti lze analogicky uplatnit i v každodenním životě.
This master´s thesis presents aspects and connections between cognitive and physiological processes during music preparation and production, enabling musicians to gain a deeper understanding of their meaning and effects in musical expression – I integrate my findings from various scientific fields into a harmonious complex with the intention to help musicians find their unique and effective way of music preparation.
This thesis has been created on the basis of a research study, the creation of which was preceded by systematic and intensive research and the collection of knowledge from the artistic and scientific spheres. I compressed a considerable amount of information into the form of a study and then I extended the work with practical tips and examples of exercises for students of melodic percussion instruments.
In my work, I present facts and methods which lead to appropriate interconnection of body and mind, relaxation, ease during musical expression and further musical and mental development. The purpose of the thesis is not to present groundbreaking findings or universal solutions in the field of optimal artistic preparation, but to present simple and functional mechanisms in a broader context from the perspective of a student and active artist.
Continuous verification of findings in practice led me to believe that the results of research used in the artistic field can be applied analogously in everyday life. Musical imagination largely depends on ideas about life, or rather on the ability to be inspired and express this experience through music. Releasing tension in the body is inseparable from calming the mind, which offers better concentration and the ability to be in the present moment – this has repeatedly proven to be an effective path to relaxed and conscious musical expression

Vocal style and opera work of Stanisław Moniuszko
The master’s thesis deals with the vocal style and opera work of polish music composer Stanisław Moniuszko which is one of the greatest composers in Poland. The work includes a brief description of his life, and it describes his relationship to the theatrical environment. The next section discusses the author’s vocal style, the problems of interpreting the parts of his operas, and mentions the singers Moniuszko worked with and cast in his operas, which gives us an idea of the vocal typology of the characters at the premiere performances, whose tradition of interpretation has changed a lot since then. The author’s attitude to the transposition of his parts is mentioned here, as in many cases he reworked his according to the possibilities of the singers or rewrote his parts for other voice category. In the last part of the thesis, I present a cross-section of Moniuszko’s operatic works. A large part is devoted to his first and most famous opera Halka. The aim of this thesis is to highlight the personality of Stanisław Moniuszko in Czech, to introduce his operatic works and to help the reader to understand his music, his vocal style, and the problems of interpreting Moniuszko’s works
Lyric diction studies for singers in the USA
This thesis focuses on the teaching practice of Lyric diction classes in the USA and introduces the International Phonetic Alphabet and its benefits for phonetic transcription of lyrics and the interpretation of the text. In operatic career, singers often encounter repertoire in many foreign languages they are not fluent in, and the aim of this thesis is to present methods on how to achieve the most authentic pronunciation. It analyses the pitfalls of Italian, English, German and French lyric diction, focuses on the most common pronunciation mistakes singers make and introduces interpretation and technique recommendations. The thesis is supplemented with voice recordings of phonetic transcriptions and also commentary of diction professors and opera singers on their experience with lyric diction seminars

The bachelor's thesis deals with the origin and history of the independent T.E.J.P. theatre based in Jihlava, the personalities who participated in its foundation and the work process during the creation of a performance within the framework of a fourteen-day summer theatre project called Divodvůr, which was organized by the T.E.J.P. theatre.
Most of the information about the T.E.J.P. theatre I obtained from personal interviews with the founders. I reflect on the process of creation through my personal experience as a movement assistant during the project. In this thesis I focus on the individual theatrical components, describing sources of inspiration and the different approaches that led to the creation of each scene and subsequently the final form. I observe all of the aforementioned aspects of the work in relation to the child and teenage amateur performe
Project Peter and Lucy
plánování a vedení projektu. This bachelor thesis deals with the drama-educational project Peter and Lucie, which was
implemented in three secondary vocational schools. The book Peter and Lucie, written by
Romain Rolland, is the inspiration for this thesis.
The aim of the work is to bring an unconventional project to secondary vocational schools,
where such projects are not usually carried out, to stimulate interest in the story or reading the
book, to provide an opportunity to identify with the character and story of a classic, interwar
novel, through the methods of drama education.
I successfully implemented the project, thus fulfilling my goal. I conclude by pointing out the
pitfalls of planning and conducting a project
The creative process when working on an author's production
Autorka dále reflektuje premiéru a reprízu inscenace. V závěru práce autorka vyhodnocuje naplnění vytyčených cílů inscenačního procesu i bakalářské práce celkově.
The title of the bachelor thesis is "The creative process of working on an author's production." The aim of the thesis is to present the process of creation of the author's production "Garry and Hermelina" and to present the development by the participants I mean. The participants are meant to be the students, as individuals and as a group, and the author of this thesis. It is not the intention of the bachelor thesis to analyse the production in detail, but rather to examine in detail the process of its creation, which is also crucial in relation to the topic of the thesis.
At the beginning of the thesis, the author deals with the creative process that accompanies the entire production. She then introduces the creative team she worked with, i.e. the group as a whole, the individual pupils and herself in terms of her experience of running a drama group. The creative team is introduced at the beginning of the collaborative creation of the production so that its development can be recorded. A substantial part of the thesis is focused on describing the process of creating the production, which is ordered according to the various footholds the author and the group were working towards. The preliminary production plan and the reasons for its transformation are also presented.
The author also reflects on the premiere and reprise of the production. An integral part of this is the record of the aforementioned shift in the development of the group, the individual pupils and the author. The first record of development is given after three months of work and the second at the end of the process, i.e. after six months of work. A reflection on the whole production is also included, including a summary of its plot, shortcomings and limitations. At the end of the thesis, the author evaluates the fulfilment of the set objectives of the staging process and the bachelor thesis in general.
The thesis relies on professional literature, through which the author explains the concepts that appear in the bachelor thesis
Don Giovanni and liminal spaces
The bachelor's thesis focuses on my set and costume design for the opera Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It also deals with the themes which are related to this created set and costume design. The aim of the practical part of the bachelor's thesis is to solve how the set and the costumes for this opera will look like, draw the individual situations, and subsequently describe them and explain my solutions. The theoretical part of this work mainly concentrates on the theme of liminal spaces that is closely connected to my set and costume design concept. The chapter on liminal spaces also analyses some pieces of art and movies which have been my inspiration in the process of creating the set and costume design. The bachelor's thesis also contains a short analysis of several examples from literature with the theme of Don Juan which I found relevant in the process of the thesis creation
Ecological Thinking in the Context of Theatre
This bachelor's thesis deals with the mapping of ecological thinking in the theatre, explores the views of theatre scholars, sociologists, ecologists, artists and theatre groups on this topic (especially in the sphere of alternative theatre) and aims to create a working dictionary that processes the topics of material recycling, linear and cyclical ways of creation, collective collaboration and ideas of non-growth. The main sources of inspiration are the Australian artist and eco-scenographer Tanja Beer and the Chicago-based performance group Goat Island. These ways of working and thinking are further applied to two rehearsal processes in which the graduate has been personally involved: A Perfect Day and a Little Red Riding Hood or What Goes Around, Doesn´t Come That Easy. The entire work uses methods of case studies and autoethnographic research. The result of the work is an insight into different perspectives and types of ecological thinking in the theatre
