Antonín Dvořák and his cycle of Evening songs
The bachelor thesis deals with the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák and his famous song cycle called Evening Songs. The main aim and mission of this bachelor thesis is to introduce the reader to this well-known Czech personality of the music scene, a composer who is associated with Czech romantic music of the 19th century.
In the thesis, I also deal with the origin of the song cycle, its content and comparison with the cycle of the same name in the works of Bedřich Smetana. The next chapters contain information about the life and work of the author of the lyrics of this song cycle, who was Vítězslav Hálek.
In the research part of the bachelor's thesis, I addressed the respondents in the form of a qualitative method – an interview and thus obtained the necessary information on the topic. The data collection was carried out through individual interviews with the respondents who answered pre-prepared questions. Since I want to achieve qualitative research, I approached five respondents. One student from the first year, three students from the second year and one student from the third year of undergraduate studies.
The Bachelor's thesis could be helpful for undergraduate students majoring in singing and opera who choose Antonín Dvořák's Evening Song cycle in their studies. They will learn which songs were challenging for the performers and how they affected them, but the thesis can also serve all readers who would like to learn more about the cycle of Evening Songs by Antonín Dvořák and the composer himself
Trans and Queer roles in Opera
The thesis deals with the analysis of the portrayal of queer and trans characters and queer themes in opera. In the introduction, a theoretical framework is presented that defines key concepts in the context of gender identities and queer culture. The history of the portrayal of queer characters in opera and the first known instances of their representation are then presented. The main part of the thesis focuses on the analysis of selected operas with trans and queer characters and themes. Operas with implicit queer themes, such as Bedřich Smetana's "Dalibor," and Richard Strauss's "Elektra,“and operas with overtly discussed queer themes, such as Terence Blanchard's "Fire Shut Up in My Bones," Tobias Picker's "Lili Elbe," and Raquel García-Tomás's "Alexina B," are examined. The thesis concludes with a discussion of the representation of LGBTQIA+ operas and personalities on a global and local scale. Prominent queer figures in opera and their experiences in the operatic world are presented, as well as initiatives aimed at supporting the LGBTQIA+ community in the musical environment. This thesis aims to contribute to the expansion of knowledge about queer and trans representation in opera within the academic community and opens up the discussion about inclusivity in the artistic environment

Functional adjustment of the body in movement through interspacial levels
Zaujíma ma praktické zapojenie teórie do tréningu a neustále overovanie si informácií prostredníctvom vlastnej skúsenosti či skúseností mojich študentov a kolegov. The aim of the thesis is to find effective and practically movements which are functional, also to create a functional training for dancers whose subsequent structure can be applied to students of any level and age as well as be able to prepare them for any performance on stage and make their daily movements as much efficient as possible. The reason is that a dancer takes care of his „work tool“ – his body which he uses whenever and everywhere.
The basis is to find out a sustainable approach to the body and mind of the dancer (creating an inseperable whole) who is able to improve his technique and push his own limits and boundaries in a respectful way despites of the individual dispositions, specifically in a healthy way.
The subject of my reasearch is functional setting of the body in motion in each of the spatial levels which the technique of contemporary dance is practiced individually in, especially during transitions from one level to another.
I am searching for the answers of these questions:
How to move from one level to another witch ease and without excessive effort and extra muscle activity as much naturally as possible?
How to find out the effeciency in movement and learning as a student as well as a teacher?
What is possible to learn from the part of children at an early age and transfer it to the practical part of a dancer?
I am interested in the practical involment of theory in practise and constant verification of information through my own experience or through the experience of my students and colleagues
Od sebe ke kreativitě, od kreativity k autenticitě
In this thesis titled “From self to creativity, from creativity to authenticity,” I am searching for the connections between these three highly polemicized terms to explain to myself the effects dialogical acting has had on me. I do that by looking back to my student reflections from dialogical acting class and trying to confront my experience and articulations on these subjects with relevant literature from each of them. At the core of it all, I found to be the dialogical nature of the self, its ability to discuss and change perspectives to be the root of creativity, and when we are connected to our root, our core, to our self, is the only possible way to be authentic.V této diplomové práci s názvem „Od sebe ke kreativitě, od kreativity k autenticitě,“ hledám souvislosti mezi těmito třemi silně polemizovanými pojmy, abych si vysvětlil, jaký vliv na mě má disciplína dialogické jednání.
Technique of transitions between tones based on harmonic series
This work concerns methods of creating transitions between notes within tempered tuning system based on relationships of their harmonic series by connecting them (e.g. creating microtonal lines). The aim is to present an open system that is possible to evolve further, and to generalize said principles into comprehensible and practicable methods that could potentially serve as a source of inspiration for the composer
Organology in the Czech Republic
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to map education in the field of organology, both in schools and the education of organologists. Part of the work was also to penetrate the distribution of organological competences in the Czech Republic. The main source for this work was a questionnaire survey that I conducted with persons affected by this issue – with organologists and teachers of the subject of organology at schools. The aim was also to find out whether those concerned would like to open the field of Organologist as a separate field. The results show that almost 60 % of the respondents would be in favor of opening this field. At the same time, the research showed insufficient legal competence of the concerned organologists, especially in relation to individual parishes. In the field of education, it was found that the subject of organology is taught in all schools that teach organs and related fields
as a Contributory Organisation of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic
The Prague Philharmonic Choir is the oldest Czech professional choir, with uninterrupted activity since 1935. The Choir has operated as an independent contributory organisation of the Czech Ministry of Culture since its organisational separation from the Czech Philharmonic in 1991. Despite its long history, no comprehensive study of the Prague Philharmonic Choir has previously been published. This thesis presents the Prague Philharmonic Choir as a leading European ensemble with an irreplaceable role in Czech musical life and the representation of Czech musical culture abroad. The thesis summarises the activities of the Prague Philharmonic Choir, describes in detail its internal functioning and evaluates its status as an independent contributory organisation. The Choir’s history, along with its artistic and educational activities, methods of promotion and presentation are examined. The thesis then evaluates the Choir’s artistic operations, legal form, and internal organisation, before analysing its financial management and outlining its future direction. The thesis draws primarily on season overviews, brochures, annual reports, media articles, manuscripts, and other source materials available in the Choir’s archives, supplemented by personal interviews with the current Principal Choirmaster, Director, Secretary, and Head of Communications. Taking into account the historical context, current state and future plans of the Prague Philharmonic Choir, the thesis concludes by presenting arguments for the suitability of the Choir’s current legal form as a state contributory organisation
Psilocybin, a stimulant of creativity, or the fad of a decadent artist?
The bachelor thesis documents a specific discourse concerning the psychoactive substance
called psilocybin in the theatrical context, specifically among students and graduates of the
academic programme Nonverbal Theatre in the age group of 20-35 years. The qualitative
research focuses on the main reasons and motivations for the use of the psychoactive
substance psilocybin in the creative sector and opens a discussion on the risks and possible
benefits of this substance in the sphere of theatrical performance. Particular attention is paid
to the neurology, the historical classification of psilocybin and how it is used in the artistic world.
A gender-balanced focus group (focus group) was formed in six in-depth, anonymous
interviews, with one-third of the respondents answering on the basis of only one specific
experience. The thesis thus presents the specific stories of the respondents, in which each of
them describes in detail their experience of using this psychoactive substance. At the same
time, it also explores how this substance has affected their writing and whether they feel that
they are or have been significantly affected by its use. The analysis of the collected data is
further metaphorically approached in four prose works (non-fiction, keeping in mind the narrow
boundary between creative non-fiction) that are closely related to the basic components of
movement theatre such as space, gravity, rhythm and physicality. These short literary
formations are then inserted between the chapters of the thesis
