    Pengaruh Torehan dan Sitozim Seed Plus Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tiga Tipe Panili (Vanilla planifolia Andrews)

    Penelitian ini dilakukan di rumah kaca Sub Balai Penelitian Tanaman rempah dan Obat natar (Lampung), dari bulan Maret sampai Juli 1988. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh torehan dan sitozim seed plus terhadap pertumbuhan setek 3 tipe panili. Perlakuan terdiri dari 3 faktor, factor pertama adalah tipe panili, yaitu Anggrek, Malang, dan Ungaran Daun Tipis. Factor kedua adalah tanpa dan ditoreh pada bakal tunas setek. Factor ketiga yaitu perendaman dalam larutan sitozium seed plus; dan torehan dengan sitozium seed plus (kontrol); 1.25; 2.50; dan 3.75 ml/l. rancangan yang digunakan adalah acak kelompok dengan susunan factorial (3x2x4), dengan 3 ulangan. Bahan tanaman yang digunakan adalah setek satu ruas berdaun tunggal. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa interaksi antara tipe panili dengan sitozim seed plus; dan torehan dengan sitozim seed plus berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan akar dan tunas panili, yang tercermin pada peningkatan bobot kering akar, tinggi tunas, dan bobot kering tunas. Sedangkan waktu keluar tunas dan jumlah ruas hanya dipengaruhi oleh factor torehan dan sitozim seed plus. Setek panili yang ditoreh menghasilkan pertumbuhan yang lebih cepat dan baik bila dibandingkan dengan tanpa ditoreh. Penggunaan sitozim seed plus sampai konsentrasi 3.75% ml/l masih meningkatkan pertumbuhan akar dan tunas panili

    Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Kultur Jaringan Kelti Plasma Nutfah dan Pemuliaan, Balai Penelitian Tanaman Rempah dan Obat, Bogore mulai bulan oktober 1999 – Juli 2000 yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa taraf konsentrasi Bezyl Adenin (BA) dan NAA terhadap pertumbuhan temu lawak secara in vitro. Mata tunas temulawak yang digunakan diambil dari Instalasi Penelitian Sukamulya, Sukabumi Sebelum dikultur, mata tunas disterilkan dengan menggunkan alkohol 70% HgCI: 0,2% Clorox 20$ dan terakhir dibilas dengan aquades steril 3 kali. Murashige dan Skoog (MS) yang diperkaya dengan vitamin dari group B digunakan sebagai media dasar. Beberapa taraf konsentrasi BA yaitu 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 dan 2.0 mg/l serta kombinasi dengan NAA 0.5 mg/l digunakan sebagai perlakuan Rancangan yang dipakai adalah acak lengkap dengan tiga ulangan, setiap ulangan terdiri atas lima botol. Parameter yang di amatai adalah rata-rata jumlah tunas, panjang ruas, jumlah daun dan akar serta penampakan biakan secara visual. Hasil penelitian menunjukka bahwa dalam waktu 8 minggu, jumlah tunas dan daun terbanyak diperoleh pada perlakuan BA 1.5 mg/l Akar terbanyak diperoleh pada perlakuan BA 1.0 mg/l + NAA 0.5 mg/l Penggunaan BA secara tunggal maupun kombinasi dengan NAA tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi runas.     the thin-layer chromatography analysis of patchouli oilPatchouly oil consist of various components, such as benzaldehyde, eugenol, cinamicaldehyde, azulene and sesquiterpene groups i.e: β patchoullene, α gauienene, α bulnesene and patchouli alcohol. In thin-layer chromatography analysis, its important to select the proper eluent, absorbant and detection solution, because they will affect the migration of components being analysed. To determine the components of patchouli oil by thin-layer chromatography, two kind of eluents with different polarities were tested. The system of solvent are ethyl acetate + hexane = 1 + 9 and the mixture of 5% ethyl acetate  + chloroform in hexane. Sulfuric acid 50% was used as adetection solution. From the analysis using two solvent systems, six group of sesquiterpenne can be identified from each solvent. To produce better separation of components, two dimensional technique should be developed

    Bud culture of angelica acutiloba though tissue culture techniques.Tissue culture experiments to propagate angelica acutiloba were carried out in the laboratory of Bogor Rest Ints for Spice and Medicinal Crops, Bogor.Result showed that medium without growth regulator slowly induced the growth of shoot explants of 0.3 – 0.6 mm long. On the other hand, the explants grew well and fast in combined medium of IAA (2.0 mg/I) + BAP (0.5 mg/I) + Kinetin (0.5 mg/I) + GA3 (1.0 mg/I) and vitamins from B group, where rooting occurred 3 weeks after planting.This promising technique is expected to contribute to the supply of uniform high yielding varieties of angelica acutiloba having superior characters inherited from their mother plants

    Low quality ginger utilization as a row material for ginger oleoresin syrup.The Experiment was conducted at Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops in June 1993-March 1994. The objective of this experiment is to find out the possibility of using the low quality ginger as the raw material for ginger oleoresin in order to improve its added value. The raw material for the experiment was taken from Sukabumi District (West java). This experiment consist of two steps : (1) raw material analysis (ginger) and oleoresin preparation and (2) oleoresin application in syrup processing. The second steps of experiment were carried aut using Completely Randomized Design with three factors AxBxC, two replications. Treatments, A (oleoresin concentration), B (emulsifier) and C (citric acid concentration). The result of the raw material analysis showed that oleoresin yield and oil content of the low quality ginger were (*,50-8,69%) and (1.77-2.09%), which was lower than the export quality ginger (10,13 and 2,60%). Compotition of the ginger oleoresin syrup preferably (in 100 ml) is 0.60-1.00 g oleoresin, 0.75 g citric acid, 0.50 g NaCl and 150 g sugar. Emulsifier agent gave undersirable appereance and taste. Filtration gave better appereance, taste and colour but it slightly decreased the aroma. The syrup oleoresin can be used with 1 : 5 dilution

    Damaging potency of pepper blossom lace bug Diconoris hewetti DIST (Hemiptera: Tingidae)This study was carried out at the laboratory of the experimental garden, Petaling, Bangka from February to March 1985. The objective was to find out the damaging potency of pepper blossom lace bug, D. hewetti. A completely randomized design was used, with number of insect 1, 2 and 4 head/bunch and feeding period, 12 and 24 hours in 3 replications. From the result, of this study, showed that the insect was capable of damaging the pepper inflorescence seriously. In 12 and 24 haurs period of feeding, each bug was capable of inflicting 18.96% and 40.67% injury to pepper inflorescence respectively, consisting approximately 70 – 75 flowers/bunch. The increase injury was more than double, although the feeding period was only extenden 2 folds. However, the damaging ability of the individual bug decreased progressively as the bug number/bunch increased, and therefore, this insect could be regarded as solitary

    Intercropping Angelica acutiloba with vegetablesIntercropping A. acutiloba with vegetables was studied to evaluate its effect on A. acutiloba yield and to asses the economic value of different cropping patterns. The experiment was conducted a Nagasari Experimental Garden at Cipanas, West Java fron January to November 1986. The experiment was designed as randomized block design with 10 treatments and 3 replicates and plot size of 2.5 m x 2.5 m.The crop combinations tested were (1) Angelica monoculture (2) cabbage monoculture, (3) maize monoculture, (4) lettuce monoculture, (5) Angelica + cabbage + maize, (6) Angelica + maize + lettuce, (7) Angelica + cabbage + lettuce, (8) Angelica + cabbage, (9) Angelica + maize, (10) Angelica + lettuce. The results showed that intercroppings did not enclose the harvest of Angelica rhizome. Intercropping Angelica with vegetables tended to increase the income. The highest income was obtained from intercropping. Angelica with cabbage + maize, followed by Angelica + cabbage + lettuce and Angelica + cabbage
