Production Regions and Technology of Pottery at Punta di Zambrone: NAA and Petrography in a Combined Approach. Orea|Punta di Zambrone I Oriental and European Archaeology Volume 17|

    No full text
We analysed 37 samples of pottery and daub fragments from Punta di Zambrone (province of Vibo Valentia) by combining thin-section petrography and Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) geochemistry. The aim is to identify possible production areas for some wheelmade vessels of Aegean type and better define raw materials and paste recipes for the local handmade impasto ware. By integrating petrographic and NAA results, one reliable group emerged, which refers to the local specialised production of Recent Bronze Age (RBA) open shapes. A filter test allowing larger elemental variances was applied on NAA data in order to identify further groups (named special groups) to be specifically compared with petrographic fabrics. The special NAA group Ul41 and petro group 3, including local reference materials such as daub fragments, correlate well. Furthermore, the concentration pattern of Ul41 is close to that of local clay deposits (Cava Monaca and Fiumara Jona). The RBA closed shapes show a lower correspondence between geochemical and petrographic results, presumably attributable to less standardised production processes

Fathers’ and mothers’ enjoyment of childcare: the role of multitasking. Vienna Yearbook of Population Research|Vienna Yearbook of Population Research 2021|

    No full text
Using data from the latest edition of the Italian Time Use Survey (ITUS, 2013–2014), we analyse 31,309 childcare episodes to investigate the relationship betweenmultitasking (i.e., the combination of childcare with housework tasks) and parents’enjoyment of the time they spent on childcare, with a gender perspective. To this end,we rely on information from the episode enjoyment scores the respondents used toevaluate the degree of (un)pleasantness associated with the different activities theyrecorded in a daily diary. These episode enjoyment scores are a novelty in the ITUS,and provide a unique measure of the respondents’ momentary assessments of theirsubjective well-being. Our results highlight the existence of a negative relationshipbetween multitasking and parental well-being when spending time on childcare forboth mothers and fathers, regardless of the nature of the childcare activity theywere performing (i.e., routine or recreational childcare). Our findings add to priorresearch by shedding new light on the role of multitasking as a relevant contextualcharacteristic of care that affects the well-being of fathers, as well as of mothers

Citizen Science Tools for Lake Monitoring in the Framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: The Project SIMILE. GI_Forum|GI_Forum 2021, Volume 1|

    No full text
SIMILE (Informative System for the Integrated Monitoring of Insubric Lakes and their Ecosystems) is a cross-border Italian-Swiss project aiming to improve the management of the Insubric lakes and their ecosystems with different technologies as well as the participation of citizens and stakeholders in water resources monitoring. In this project, water monitoring and management was carried out through different technologies: in situ sensors, satellite imagery, and data coming from citizen science. This paper focuses in particular on this last source of information, describing how data sourced from citizen science can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations (UN). The report illustrates the tools that have been developed for the collection and management of information provided through citizen science; a mobile cross-platform application for smartphones that can be used by any citizen and a Web application for administrators, useful for data management and editing

Auswirkungen der COVID-19 Pandemie auf die Arbeit mit Moodle – Aktuelles aus Österreichs Schulen. GW-Unterricht|GW-Unterricht 162|

    No full text

Fertility Desires, Intentions and Behaviour: A Comparative Analysis of Their Consistency

    No full text
Realisation of childbearing intentions implies couple’s dyadic interaction and proceptivebehaviour. Studies on childbearing intentions and outcomes have rarely considered non-‐‑use of contraception or ‘proceptive behaviour’ in general as an important mediator offertility outcomes. The traits-‐‑desires-‐‑intentions-‐‑behaviour theory (Miller and Pasta, 1996;Miller et al., 2004; Miller, 2010) expects proceptive behaviour to be the most accuratepredictor of a birth and intentions to be more predictive than desires. We test this theoryusing longitudinal data from the Generations and Gender Surveys from Austria, Franceand Bulgaria (2004–2013) and performing logistic regression models on birth outcomeswhich includes as key explanatory variables different pairwise combinations of desires, intentions and contraceptive (or proceptive) behaviour. The findings show that anindividual’s intention to have a child predicts the birth of a child better than non-‐‑use ofcontraception, or proceptive behaviour; however, proceptive behaviour is a betterpredictor of a birth than non-‐‑use of contraception. Finally, perception of the partner’sagreement on having a child now is less predictive than an individual’s intention to havea child within three years. This paper calls for the collection of genuine couple-‐‑level dataon fertility intentions and behaviour and more refined measures on both contraceptiveand proceptive behaviour
