Digital marketing as a tool for inclusive employment
Persons with disabilities (PWDs) represent the largest minority in the world who are still not
adequately represented in the labour market and are therefore at higher risk of poverty and material
deprivation. Digital marketing has the potential to close this gap by enabling PWDs to work remotely and access
a wider range of employment opportunities. With the right support and accessibility measures, PWDs can use
their skills and talents in digital marketing to contribute to their economic empowerment and inclusion in
society. Considering that participation in digital labour platforms is an accepted labour practice in Serbia, this
paper represents a pilot study aimed at gaining insights into the requirements of the digital labour market with
a focus on digital marketing. To this end, the requirements of entry-level marketing positions on one of the most
popular platforms for freelancers – Upwork - were investigated. The main objective of this analysis is to provide
sound suggestions for the development of training programmes and mentoring initiatives tailored to enable
PWDs in Serbia to become self-employed and increase their chances of earning additional income
oblastima delovanja i izvan tradicionalnih i klasičnih okvira inovacija. Osnovno
analiziraju istraživanja i primena otvorenih inovacija u širokom spektru privrednih
i društvenih oblasti, kojima se unapređuje visokokvalitetni zeleni razvoj. Cilj rada
razvoju životne sredine i zelenoj tranziciji.
probleme i ograničenja u toj interakciji. Autori definišu i pravce budućih aktivnosti
i razvoja otvorenih inovacija u funkciji bržeg razvoja i primene zelene tranzicije.
The Determinants of Intention to Use Digital Banking Services in Kuwait
Online banking is the use of the Internet on supported devices such as computers, tablet devices, and or
smartphones to remotely access banking services and carry out various transactions. Online banking offers multiple advantages
to the customers, such as ease of access, use of banking services anytime and from anywhere, lower costs, less time
consumption, and speed of transactions. Banks provide such a platform to ensure that their customers are satisfied and remain
with them for a longer period. The aim is to achieve various factors such as customer satisfaction, customer retention, and
customer loyalty. This research aims to determine key drivers for the intention to use digital banking services, i.e., e-banking
and m-banking in Kuwait. Data was collected from 202 bank customers using a questionnaire. All items were measured by a 5-
point Likert scale. Factor analysis identified the following variables: 1. Perceived usefulness, 2. Perceived ease of use, 3.
Perceived risk, 4. Subjective norm, 5. Perceived behavioral control, 6. Trust, 7. Word-of-Mouth, 8. Attitude, and 9. Intention.
Average scores concluded that respondents gave the highest value for the usefulness of digital banking services. Respondents
worry about their privacy, especially when providing personal information, and fear of phishing. Findings suggest that people's
behavior towards digital banking services is not influenced by their family, friends, peers, or other people. Trust in bank's
digital services is a major concern. Finally, the majority of respondents indicated their intention to use e-banking or m-banking
but were not completely sure of it
American Economist Behind the Iron Curtain: John Kenneth Galbraith in Socialist Yugoslavia
The paper focuses on the relationship between socialist Yugoslavia
and the American economist, intellectual, and political figure John Kenneth
Galbraith. The research is based on the analysis of archival materials,
periodicals, travelogues, and Galbraith’s works translated in Yugoslavia.
Galbraith’s first visit to Yugoslavia in 1958 was an integral part of his study visit
to Poland, financed by the Ford Foundation. Based on the travelogue Galbraith
wrote after his trip, the article analyzes the picture of the Yugoslav society in
the 1950s and its transformation, looking into the period until the economist’s
second visit in 1989. Finally, through mapping the published monographs,
this article analyzes the reception of Galbraith’s work in socialist Yugoslavia
Environmental Implications of Financial Development in CEE countries
The examination considers the causality between financial development and carbon
dioxide (CO₂) emissions in the sample of six Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries in the
period range between 2000 to 2020. Utilizing the Dumitrescu and Hurlin panel causality test, the
results confirmed a one-way causality, where financial development precedes changes in CO₂
emissions. The observed one-way causality suggests that improvements or advancements in
financial development might have implications for environmental sustainability. Additionally,
the Westerlund error-correction–based panel cointegration tests reveal cointegration between the
variables, indicating a stable equilibrium association among them in the complete sample of
countries. As countries strive for economic growth and development, it becomes crucial to
consider the environmental consequences and adopt measures that promote sustainable
practices. Policymakers and stakeholders must proactively recognize the potentially important
role of financial development in shaping environmental outcomes and identify opportunities to
effectively integrate sustainable practices into financial and economic strategies
Customer Relationship Management: A Key Factor in Banks’ Competitiveness in Modern Business
This paper investigates the degree of implementation of the customer relationship management (CRM) concept in Serbian banks. The CRM strategy is extremely important in the financial
services sector, given the number of clients and their rapidly changing and evolving needs. The
applied research method is an online survey of bank clients, i.e., the collection of descriptive data
based on structured questionnaires. The research results showed the extent to which banks effectively
use the CRM model. CRM is mostly used for personalized communication with clients, especially
with VIP clients who have higher than average importance for banks’ operations. In addition, the
research results showed that banks improve and integrate their communication and sales channels
and train employees to use CRM tools that will enable them to cross-sell while retaining existing and
attracting new customers
Crowding-out effect of tobacco consumption in Serbia
Background: Although smoking prevalence and
intensity in Serbia have decreased in recent years,
expenditures on tobacco products still represent a
significant portion of household budgets. As households
have limited resources at their disposal, consuming
tobacco means that they spend less on other items
such as food, clothing, education and healthcare. This is
particularly true for low-income households, for whom
the pressure on the household budget is even higher.
Objectives: In this research we estimate the effect of
tobacco consumption on other consumption items in
Serbia, which is the first estimation of this type for the
countries in Eastern Europe.
Methods: We use microdata from the Household
Budget Survey and estimation approach that includes
the combination of seemingly unrelated regression and
instrumental variables. Besides estimating the overall
effect we analyse the differences in effects between low-income, medium-income and high-income households.
Results: Expenditures on tobacco reduce consumption
on food, clothing and education and increase the
budget shares spent on complementary consumption
items such as alcohol, hotels, bars and restaurants. In
most cases, the effects are more pronounced for low-income households than for other groups. These results
suggest that aside from the negative effects of tobacco
consumption on health, it also distorts household
consumption structure, while affecting intrahousehold
allocation and future health and development of other
household members.
Conclusions: The results from this research underline
the negative effect that tobacco expenditures have
on consumption of other products. The only way for
households to decrease expenditures on tobacco is to
stop smoking, as the consumption of those who continue
smoking changes less than cigarettes prices. To ensure
that households stop smoking and instead direct their
expenditures towards more productive purposes, the
Serbian government should adopt new policies and
strengthen enforcement of existing tobacco control
measures
From the BFI-44 to BFI-20: Psychometric Properties of the Short Form of the Big Five Inventory
The Big Five Inventory (BFI-44) has been a useful tool for researchers for over three decades. However, the contemporary way of life has created the need for abbreviated versions of psychological instruments. We derived the number of items from the BFI-44 questionnaire in order to create a short form of the questionnaire (BFI-20). In the first study (N = 1350, 82.4% females, aged 18–60), using a range of criteria, we identified 20 items (four for each of the Big Five traits) that most optimally represent each dimension. The five-factor structure was mostly replicated in the second (N = 215, 65.1% females, aged 18–65) and third study (N = 263, 83.7% females, aged 18–42). The BFI-20 demonstrated satisfactory reliability, representativeness, homogeneity, and part-whole convergence. Despite mild attenuation, most BFI-20 correlations with schizotypy, satisfaction with life, and positive orientation remained in the same range compared to the BFI-44. The Agreeableness domain was shown to be the most challenging for capturing with four items. We discuss the advantages of our BFI-20 compared to the other two 20-item versions. In sum, we can recommend the use of this BFI-20 version as a time-efficient, satisfactory reliable, and representative questionnaire
The association of socio-demographic characteristics of university students and the levels of their digital entrepreneurial competences
The aim of this article is to provide empirical evidence on the level of digital entrepreneurial competences (DEC) that higher education students acquire during their higher education and to investigate the relationship between their socio-demographic characteristics and the level of DEC. The first competence area (Identification of opportunities) of the DEC EmDigital competence framework was assessed together with its three sub-competence areas (Search for and analysis of information, Creativity and innovation, and Prospecting), and the relationship between the level of DEC and various socio-demographic characteristics of higher education students was investigated using logistic regression. The results show a relatively low DEC level of the participating students for the first EmDigital competence area. Location, field of study, level of study and employment status were found to be statistically significant for the acquisition of DEC, while the variables age and gender had little impact. The results of this study are a step towards the development of an DEC online assessment tool (using the Digital Competence Wheel as a role model) that universities and other stakeholders could use to assess the level of DEC their students acquire during university education. This research is the first study to assess the acquisition of DEC during university studies and the impact of different socio-demographic characteristics of students on their level of DEC
