‘I know that I know nothing’ – the perceptions of remote work competencies of the persons with disabilities
Remote work arrangements, facilitated through digital
entrepreneurship and remote work platforms, represent
employment inclusion strategy for persons with disabilities (PWD)
who need to possess a certain level of digital entrepreneurial
competencies (DEC) and knowledge of remote work platforms to
participate in such arrangements. Contemporary academic
literature on remote work opportunities for PWD lacks research
specifically targeting the competencies required for remote work
within this particular group. One approach to measuring the DEC
and remote work competencies of PWD is through selfassessment
of relevant competencies. Another approach involves
assessing their actual competencies through knowledge and
ability assessment. This study focuses on the self-assessment of
DEC and remote work competencies among a sample of PWD in
Serbia (n = 125), and explores their association with various sociodemographic
and contextual factors. Statistical analysis included
exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, and non-parametric
tests to compare differences between groups. The results suggest
a clear need for capacity building in remote work for PWD.
Furthermore, certain socio-demographic and contextual factors
were found to have a significant impact on perceptions of PWD
remote work competencies
Značaj i uloga formalnog marketinškog obrazovanja: percepcija akademske i poslovne javnosti
Značaj edukacije za razvoj
znanja i veština iz oblasti marketinga je
nesporan, ali je malo naučnih radova
koji se bave ispitivanjem usklađenosti
formalnog obrazovanja sa potrebama
savremene marketinške prakse. Ovaj rad
nastoji da popuni identifikovani jaz. U tu
svrhu, sprovedena su dva istraživanja. U
prvom je analizirana ponuda marketinških
smerova i predmeta 165 akreditovanih
visokoškolskih ustanova na teritoriji Republike
Srbije. Nalazi ukazuju da su teme
marketinga, strategijskog marketinga,
ponašanja potrošača i istraživanja tržišta,
zadržale liderske pozicije u nas tavnim
planovima i programima, te da je primetan
i trend brzog razvoja drugih oblasti
(npr. digitalni, internet i marketing putem
društvenih mreža). U drugom istraživanju
anketnim putem ispitivani su stavovi i
percepcije 117 pripadnika akademske i
poslovne zajednice, iz oblasti marketinga.
Rezultati pokazuju da postoji saglasnost
o značaju specifičnih znanja, veština i
stavova za rad u marketinškoj praksi, kao
i o neophodnosti specijalizovanog formalnog
obrazovanja za pozicije izvršnog
direktora marketinga, brend menadžera i
marketinškog konsultanta. Nasuprot tome
utvrđene su značajne razlike u percepciji
akademske i poslovne zajednice o osposobljenosti
diplomiranih studenata da
praktično primene marketinška znanja i
veštine. Rezultati istraživanja pružaju uvid
u stanje i perspektive marketinga i uspešnost
formalnog obrazovanja u kreiranju
znanja i veština diplomaca usklađenih
sa zahtevima savremene marketinške
prakse
How to Enhance the Cooperation Between Science and Economy Towards a Sustainable Future: Evidence From Serbia
Sustainability has emerged as a significant and pressing issue, garnering attention from researchers, institutions, global corporations, and economies, aiming to enhance human well-being comprehensively. Within this Sustainable Development Agenda 2030, Research and development institutions (RDI) play an important role as catalysts for societal transformation and researching diverse societal challenges. This paper analyses the two indicators related to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals: research and development expenditure as a proportion of GDP and researchers (in full-time equivalent) per million inhabitants. The research aims to highlight the importance of the scientific research sector as a partner for collaboration with the business community in achieving sustainable development. This chapter will also analyse some data related to Serbia. In the context of developing countries, the concept of sustainability holds great potential for improving their position within the regional context
The Importance of Training on Interculturality of Employees in the Tourism Sector
The tourism sector, by its very nature, involves interactions between people from different cultures, and therefore employees are expected, in addition to knowing a foreign language, to have a certain level of cultural sensitivity. Intercultural training has numerous advantages, some of them are that it enables effective communication and interaction with guests from different cultures, affects the satisfaction and loyalty of service users, promotes cultural understanding and tolerance. Also, investing in intercultural training for tourism employees can lead to the long-term success of the tourism organization and create a positive impact on the wider community. There are numerous studies that show that employee training on intercultural issues is extremely important for front-line employees to provide high-quality service and guest satisfaction. The lack of this training represents a significant challenge for tourism employees. Therefore, the goal of this research is to analyze the importance of intercultural training of employees in tourism, as well as all the benefits it has for both employees and guests. The methodology includes a review of relevant literature with an analysis of available data. The results of the research show that training on interculturality has a positive impact on the quality of services, as well as those organizations that have included this training program achieve greater competitiveness compared to those that have not yet done so
Non-fiscal levies and other taxes in the function of Serbia’s fiscal competitiveness
Fiscal policy, as an integral part of the tax competitiveness of the state,
is a powerful tool for attracting foreign investments. When designing
tax policy, the state tries to reduce the burden and help attract new
investments to the country, i.e. prevent them from flowing out.
Accordingly, the goal of this paper is to determine whether non-fiscal
levies and other taxes affect the fiscal competitiveness of Serbia. More
specifically, whether the business of foreign investors in Serbia depends
on the level of non-fiscal levies and other taxes imposed in Serbia. In
order to collect primary data, an online survey was conducted with the
participation of 88 (from abroad) investors in Serbia in 2001-2019. The
research method used was a one-factorial analysis of variance of different
groups (ANOVA) and a t-test for independent samples. The results show
that non-fiscal levies have a significant impact on tax competitiveness.
Namely, foreign investors consider non-fiscal levies to be an extremely
important factor when it comes to doing business in Serbia. As for the
other taxes analysed (customs duties, excise duties, contributions, and
fees), their importance for foreign investors’ is neutral and therefore not
decisive when choosing Serbia as an investment location
Digital nomads and their influence on local economy development
Digital nomads are the simplest to describe as professionals who perform tasks independently of location
and with the application of digital technology. Those individuals are characterized by a constant search for freedom,
an escape from the traditional work environment, autonomy in choosing a destination for life and work. The locations
chosen by digital nomads are pleasant environments, i.e. destinations where it is possible to satisfy work, social and
financial needs. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the significance of digital nomadism as a global phenomenon.
Acknowledging the impact that digital nomads have on the development of the local economy and community, the
findings of the paper indicate the role of a strategic approach in creating an attractive environment for their arrival,
stay and work
Softveri otvorenog koda za izradu digitalnih repozitorijuma sa osvrtom na EPrints
U savremenom informacionom dobu, digitalni repozito-
rijumi igraju ključnu ulogu u očuvanju, organizovanju i distribuciji
naučnih i kulturnih sadržaja. Potražnja za efikasnim i praktičnim
softverskim rešenjima za izradu i upravljanje repozitorijumima u
značajnom je porastu. U tom kontekstu, softveri otvorenog koda dolaze
kao odgovor na potrebe za fleksibilnim i pristupačnim alatima, koji
omogućavaju razvoj repozitorijuma koji ne zavise isključivo od komer-
cijalnih rešenja. U ovom radu, prikazane su osnovne karakteristike so-
ftvera otvorenog koda, u kontekstu izrade digitalnih repozitorijuma,
National Fiscal Rules, Maastricht Fiscal Criteria and Non-linear Public Debt Dynamics in Serbia
The aim of the paper is to assess the reaction of fiscal policymakers in Serbia when the public debt-to-GDP ratio is above the 45% limit set in the national fiscal rules. The paper proposes a two-regime
nonlinear self-exciting threshold autoregressive (SETAR) model as an appropriate econometric
framework for modeling the asymmetries in the dynamics of the public debt/GDP ratio with respect
to the 45% public debt limit. The empirical evidence suggests that fiscal policymakers in Serbia do not
adhere to the 45% public debt/GDP ceiling and instead use the Maastricht limit of 60% as a target
reference point for public debt management. The article contributes to the current policy debate by
providing empirical evidence to support the claim that the behavior of fiscal policymakers in Serbia
between 2001Q1 and 2023Q2 could jeopardize the credibility of fiscal policy and increase the
probability of default by the Serbian government on its maturing public debt
Financial Inclusion - A Driving Force for Women's Entrepreneurship Development
The financial inclusion of women has become an important issue for the
academic community and policymakers as it is one of the crucial factors for the
development of women’s entrepreneurship. This study examines the impact of
socio-demographic factors on women's financial inclusion in the Western Balkans
(Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia and Serbia). The
data from the Global Findex Database 2021 were used. Financial inclusion is
measured by the financial inclusion index modified by the inclusion of digital payments variable. The sample consisted of 2,683 women from the Western
Balkans region. Multiple linear regression was used to examine the influence of
age, education, employment status and income on financial inclusion. The results
indicate that education, employment status and income have a positive influence on
women's financial inclusion. However, an inverted U-shaped relationship was
found between age and financial inclusion, suggesting that inclusion increases up
to a certain point and then decreases
