THE INFLUENCE OF GUIDED DISCOVERY LEARNING MODEL TOWARD CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF X GRADE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI KARANGPANDAN IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014.
- The purpose of this research is to know the influence of Guided Discovery Learning toward critical thinking skills of X grade students at SMA Negeri Karangpandan in academic year 2013/2014. The research was a quasi-experimental. The research design was used post-test only nonequivalent control group design with the experiment group applying model and control group applying conventional learning model. The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri Karangpandan in academic year 2013/2014. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed X 1 grade as control group and X 2 grade as experiment group. Techniques of collecting data were test and non-test methods. The test method examinate critical thinking test. The non-test method included observation of activities student and documentation. The hypothesis was analyzed by t-test. This research concluded that the Guided Discovery Learning model affected (Sig.0,000<0,05) the critical thinking skills of X grade students at SMA Negeri Karangpandan in academic years 2013/2014.Keywords : Guided Discovery Learning, Critical Thinking Skills
IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS VERBAL CREATIVITY THROUGH LEARNING CYCLE (5E) WITH AFFINITY DIAGRAM AT BIOLOGY LEASSON IN CLASS X6 AT SMAN 3 BOYOLALI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013.
This research aims to improve the students verbal creativity in class X6 at SMAN 3 Boyolali in Academic Year 2012/2013 through the application of the Learning Cycle (5E) with Affinity Diagram.The observation result toward the learning process of Biologic study for the Students of class X6 SMAN 3 Boyolali Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013 can bee seen that the learning process is not optimal as it is only dominated by the teacher, the students can no longer get active so the student’s capability of improving the idea and giving the argument is not optimal. It indicates that the student’s verbal creativity does not work well. Based on the problem statement above, it needs to increase the learning process by applying a new model in order to activate the student and the constructivism based itself. Learning cycle (5E) is a process made by syntax: enggagement, exploration, exolanation, elaboration dan evaluation. Because the characteristic of biologic material contains many concepts and problems, for instance ecosystem material, so the learning cycle (5 E) is more effective if guided by Affinity Diagram in which the operation principle is to group the problems.This research was a classroom action research which and performed in three cycles. Each cycle consists of four phases, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data collection was used test techniques and Non Test with instrument by questions item, observation and manual interview. Data validation techniques was used triangulation techniques. Data were analyzed using descriptive techniques.The results of this research showed that an increase of students verbal creativity of in Cycle I, II III, covering the aspects 1) fluency (31.78%, 52.07%, 73.52%), 2) Flexibility (22.40% , 41.02%, 48.44%); 3) Originality (15.12%, 33.92%, 48.24%); 4) Elaboration (12.61%, 21.48%, 33.01% ). The increase of students verbal creativity as a whole when it is categorized was in cycle I with a low category was 50%, medium category was 50% and high categories was 0%, Cycle II in a low category was 35.48%, medium category was 48.39%, and high categories was 16.13%, Cycle III in lower category was 25%, medium category was 50% and high category was 25%. Cycle was stopped in Cycle III because the research target have been achieved. The conclusion of this research describes that application of the Learning Cycle (5E) with Affinity Diagrams can increase students verbal creativity in class X6 SMAN 3 Boyolali in Academic Year 2012/2013. THE STUDY COMPARISON OF METACOGNITIVE ABILITY BETWEEN INSTAD COMBINED CONCEPT MAP AND CONVENTIONAL LEARNING OF BIOLOGY LEARNING X GRADE STUDENTS AT SMA NEGERI 1 SUKOHARJO IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013
The aim of this research was to ascertain metacognitive ability differences between instad combined with concept map and conventional learning of biology learning X grade students SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013. This research was quasy experiment method. This research design was Post-Test Only with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this research was all of X grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 with 255 students. Sampling techniques used cluster sampling. The sample of this research was class X1 as experiment class with 32 students and class X2 as comparison class with 31 students. The data collected using essay test, observations and school document. The hypotheses was analyzed by t-test.The result of this research showed that t-test of metacognitive ability was significance < 0,05 is 0,015. The average value metacognitive ability of experiment class was 80,85 and comparisan class was 75,94. The average value metacognitive ability of experiment class was higher than the comparison class. The research concluded that there was metacognitive ability differences between INSTAD combined with concept map and conventional learning of biology learning grade X student SMA Negeri 1 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013. EFFORTS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS FIGURAL CREATIVITY THROUGH THE USE OF 5E LEARNING CYCLE WITH INTERRELATIONSHIP DIAGRAM ON REVIEW OF VERMES CLASS X-8 SMA NEGERI 3 SURAKARTA ACADEMIC YEAR 2012/2013
The purpose of the research is to increase the figural creativity of students through the implementations of 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram in students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.This research was a Classroom Action Research with three cycles of action. Each cycle consisting of four phases which are plan, action, observation, and reflection. The observational subject was the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/2013 amounting 32 students. The source of data comes from teacher and students. The observational data were obtained from the observation, interview and documentation. Data validation observation is using the methods of triangulation observer. Technical analysis of data was using qualitative descriptive. Research procedures were using interrelated spiral model.Result of the research showed that using 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of students from pre cycle to first cycle, from first to second cycle, and second to third cycle. The process of learning was not fully and independently accomodating pre cycle students, so that the students were lack in expressing, developing, and linking the idea of the materials. Cycles I and II were not reaching the target. Then, in Cycle III there was an improvement so that be able to aim the target.The conclusion based on the result above is that 5E Learning Cycle with Interrelationship Diagram can increase figural creativity of the students of X-8 class SMA Negeri 3 Surakarta school years 2012/ 2013.Keywords : 5E Learning Cycle, Interrelationship Diagram (ID), figural creativit
PENERAPAN PENDEKATAN CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING (CTL) DENGAN MODEL PROBLEM POSING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SISWA KELAS X.2 SMA NEGERI 2 KARANGANYAR TAHUN PELAJARAN 2011/2012
ABSTRACT – This research aims to improve low quality of biology in class X.2 SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012. Learning considered by teacher’s performance, utility of facilities in the classroom, classroom climate, student’s scientific attitude, and student motivation of achievement applying for approach Contextual Teaching and Learning with Problem Posing model. This research was a classroom action research which and performed in three cycles. Each cycle consisted of 4 phases, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data was collected Tes and Non Tes by question, questionnaire, observation, and manual interview. Data validation was used triangulation of methods and triangulation of observers. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive technique. The results of this research showed that according triangulation the average percentage for teacher’s performance in pre cycle (60%), cycle I (86,67%), cycle II (96,67%) and cycle III (100%); classroom climate pre cycle (54,16%), cycle I (68,05%), cycle II (76,38%) and cycle III (86,80%); student’s scientific attitude pre cycle (50,92%), cycle I (65,27%), cycle II (74,07%) and cycle III (83,79%); and student motivation of achievement pre cycle (57,71%), cycle I (65,75%), cycle II (74,38%) and cycle III (85,80%); utility of learning facilities in the classroom have been optimally. The results showed that the average percentage quality of biology learning aspect such as pre cycle (55,69%), cycle I (71,43%), cycle II (80,37%) and cycle III (89,09%) (increase 33,4% from pre cycle to cycle III). Cycles stopped in cycle III because the research target is achieved. The conclusion of this research describes that the implementation of approach contextual teaching and learning with problem posing model can improve quality of biology learning considered by teacher’s performance, utility of facilities in the classroom, classroom climate, student’s scientific attitude, and student motivation of achievement in class X.2 at SMA Negeri 2 Karanganyar in academic year 2011/2012. PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN STRATEGI PEMBELAJARAN GUIDED INQUIRY TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR BIOLOGI RANAH KOGNITIF DITINJAU DARI GAYA BELAJAR SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 1 JATEN TAHUN PELAJARAN 2011/2012
ABSTRACT – This research aims to find out: (1) the effect of guided inquiry learning strategy use on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of VIII graders of SMP Negeri (Public Junior High School) 1 Jaten; (2) the effect of the learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten; and (3) the interaction between the learning strategy and learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten. This study was a quasi-experiment research using Randomized Control Only Design. The learning strategy and learning style served as independent variable and learning outcomes in the cognitive domains served as dependent variable. The population of research was the even semester of VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten in the school year of 2011/2012. The sample of research was the VIII E graders as control group and VIII B graders as the experiment group. The sampling technique used was “Cluster Random Sampling”. Techniques of collecting data used for collecting data on learning outcomes in the cognitive domains were test. The measurement of biology learning style was done using questionnaire. Technique of analyzing data used was a two-way variance analysis (ANAVA) and Bunfferoni follow-up test. The conclution of the research are: 1) Guided Inquiry learning strategy affected significantly the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten; 2) Learning style did not affect the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten; and 3) there was no interaction between learning strategy and learning style on the learning outcomes in the cognitive domains of the VIII graders of SMP Negeri 1 Jaten. PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MODUL HASIL PENELITIAN PENCEMARAN DI SUNGAI PEPE SURAKARTA SEBAGAI SUMBER BELAJAR BIOLOGI POKOK BAHASAN PENCEMARAN LINGKUNGAN TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR SISWA
ABSTRACT – The purpose of this research is to ascertain the influence of pollution in Pepe Surakarta river research module implementation as biology learning resource in environmental pollution subject material toward learning achievement. The research is belonged to quasi experiment with posttest only control design. The independent variable in this research is a module as biology learning resource and dependent variable is learning achievement. The populations of this research were all of 7th degree students at SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta in academic years of 2011/2012. The samples of this research were the students of 7thA as experiment group and 7thC as control group. The sample of this research was established by cluster random sampling. The data was collected using questionnaire, essay test, observation form, and document. The hypotheses analyzed by t-test. The result of t-test had been conducted the significant value (α) < 0,05 in all domains of learning out comes, So it can be concluded that implementation of research module as biology learning resource had significant effect toward learning achievement of 7th degree students at SMP Al Irsyad Surakarta in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. PENERAPAN MODEL PEMBELAJARAN GUIDED INQUIRY DISERTAI TEKNIK ROUNDHOUSE UNTUK MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI DAN HASIL BELAJAR BIOLOGI SISWA KELAS XI-IPA III SMA NEGERI 1 TERAS BOYOLALI TAHUN AJARAN 2011/2012
ABSTRACT – The purpose of this research was to improve the motivation and achievement of students in class XI-IPA III of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in the academic year 2011/2012 through the implementation of Guided Inquiry learning model with Roundhouse techniques in learning Biology. This reseach was a Classroom Action Research. The reseach was conducted in several cycles, consisiting of planning, action, observation, and reflection to the subjects which were the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Teras in the academic year 2011/2012. The data was collected through questionnaires, observation, tests, and interviews. In analyzing the data, the researcher used several methods: the motivational data validation used triangulation observer, and the cognitive learning outcomes used logical validations which were content and construct, while the affective and psychomotor observer used observation sheets. The data was analyzed by descriptive qualitative method. The result of the research showed that according to the data observation sheet, questionnaire ,and test results, the average percentage of motivational aspect increased from 68.91% in pre-cycle to 73.58% in cycle I and had improved to 76.40% in cycle II. In terms of cognitive learning achievement, it increased from 65.22% in pre-cycle to 71.71% in cycle I and had improved to 83.42% in cycle II. In terms of affective learning, it increased from 53.67% in pre-cycle to 72.31% in cycle I and had improved to 82.17% in cycle II. In terms of psychomotor learning, it was 71.19% in cycle I and increased to 78.09% in cycle II. The conclusion of this research is the application of Guided Inquiry learning model with roundhouse technique can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of students in class XI-IPA III of SMA Negeri 1 Teras Boyolali in the academic year 2011/2012. PENGARUH MODEL SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY SOCIETY DISERTAI TEKNIK MIND MAP TERHADAP HASIL BELAJAR BIOLOGI DAN SIKAP PEDULI LINGKUNGAN SISWA DI SMAN COLOMADU
ABSTRACT – This research aimed to determine: (1) The effect of Science Technology Society (STS) model with Mind Map technique to Biology learning achivement grade 10th of at SMAN Colomadu Academic Year 2011/2012, (2) The effect of the application of STS model with Mind Map technique to environmental attitudes of 10th of students at SMAN Colomadu Academic Year 2011/2012. This research was Quasy Experimental Research used The Randomized Control Group Posttest Design. The population of this research were all students of SMA Colomadu Academic Year 2011/2012. The sample of this research was by cluster random sampling. The samples for this research was grade 10th.6 as the control classes with using various oral model with simple summary practice and grade 10th.2 as experimental class are using the STS learning model with the Mind Map technique. The data collection techniques is by documentation techniques, observation sheets, questionnaires, and tests. The technique of data analysis using the descriptive statistics and the inferential statistics with using t-test to test the hypothesis with the succor of SPSS 16. Based on the research can be concluded: (1) There is a significant effect of STS model with Mind Map technique on Biology learning achievement grade 10th at SMAN Colomadu Academic Year 2011/2012 with cognitive significant value 0000; psychomotor domain 0.000, and affective domain 0.019 (2) There is significant effect of STS model with Mind Map technique on environmental attitudes of class X at SMAN Colomadu Academic Year 2011/2012 with significant value 0.002. PENERAPAN PEMBELAJARAN INKUIRI TERBIMBING TERHADAP KETERAMPILAN PROSES SAINS DASAR PADA PELAJARAN BIOLOGI SISWA KELAS VIII SMP NEGERI 7 SURAKARTA
ABSTRACT - The research objective was to determine the effect of the application of guided inquiry approach to basic science process skills of students in grade VIII Junior High School 7 Surakarta on the basis of competency describes the circulatory systems of humans and their relationship to health. The research uses quasi-experimental research method. The population in this study were all students in grade VIII first semester of Junior High School 7 Surakarta school year 2011/2012, samples were taken with Cluster Random Sampling a number of two classes, namely class control and class experiments. Experimental class totaled 30 students and a control class numbered 30 students. To meet the requirements of the test sample is carried out initial balance ability between the experimental group and control group by t test. Research data in the form of student basic science process skills that include observation, clasifikation, measuring, prediction, conclution, and communication. Research data of basic science process skills outcomes derived from the observation sheet. Analysis of the data in this study using two-sample t test on mini tab 16. T test were selected after the test is a prerequisite Anderson-Darling normality test and Levene's homogeneity test. The results showed that application of guided inquiry learning have a significant influence on basic science process skills of students in grade VIII Junior High School 7 Surakarta.
