Rice consumption contributes the largest spending among Indonesian. Meanwhile, the changing price of rice is influenced by national inflation. Increased in rice consumption is caused by the increase of population.  It is, therefore, clear that the problem of the rice price increament relates to rice demand and supply.  This research was aimed to analize (1) factors influenced the demand and supply of rice in Indonesia; (2) effectivity of government floor price purchasing policy (GFPPP) vis-à-vis brown rice price policy in frame of increasing rice production; (3) impact of GFPPP on rice demand and supply in Indonesia. The research used time series data ranging from the year of 1981 to 2005. Two stages least square (2SLS) method was used to analyze the data by means of SAS/ETS Version 6.12. It is concluded that the GFPPP increased rice supply in Indonesia. The GFPPP also increased rice price at farmer level and rice production, but decreased demand of the brown rice.     Keywords: rice, supply demand, policy of base price purchasing of government

Through a nutritional improvement project, Bogor District had donated powdered milk formula (PMF) for severe malnutrition children under five years.  Powdered milk formula was assumed as an unsterilized product, because it might contain spore forming bacteria.  To evaluate the bacterial contaminant of home prepared milk formula, fourty eight samples of PMF, and 50 samples of reconstitution formula, drinking water, drinking equipment, and hand were taken proporsionally from the mothers in 10 Health Community Centre around Bogor District.  Samples were analyzed for aerobic microbe, Bacillus cereus, Clostridium perfringens, and the potential of enterotoxins production.  All of the donated PMF samples exhibiting a total aerobic count of <104 CFU/g (mean 1.2 x 102 CFU/g) and B. cereus count of <103 CFU/g (mean 3.0 x 102 CFU/g for PMF containing this bacterium).  Improper home storage promote the growth of aerobic microbe and B. cereus.  Improper preparation promote the growth of B. cereus which present initially at low level (mean 7.8 x 10 CFU/g) and became 1.6 x 103 CFU/ml after the reconstitution.  Clostridium perfringens emerge at 4 samples (mean 1.5 x 10 CFU/ml) after the reconstitution.  Several isolate of B. cereus (4 from PMF, 13 from opened PMF, and 2 from reconstution formula) showed a possibility to produce diarrheagenic enterotoxin while the isolate of C. perfringens did not shown it.   Keywords: powdered milk formula, B. cereus, C. perfringens, diarrheagenic enterotoxin, preparation and storage

The objective of this expaiment was to study the effect of phosphorus fertilization on the growth and production of Americana and Lokon under saturated soil culture. The experiment was conducted at the Cikarawang Experimental Station, IPB, on a Latosol, from November 1988 until April 1989. Soybean yield did not respond to the phosphorus application, and maybe due to improved soil P availability under saturated condition. Leaf P concentrations at 9 weeks were sufficient (0.303 to 0.357%) for all levels of treatment. Active nodule growth was longer under saturated soil culture than conventional irrigation. Maximum active nodule growth under conventional culture was reached at 6 weeks, but under saturated soil culture was still increasing between 6 to 9 weeks from 0.175 to 0.342 g/plant for Americana and from 0.162 to 0.260 g/plant for Lokon. Increase of active nodule dry weight was followed by increase of leaf N concentration between 6 to 9 weeks from 3.366 to 3.674% for Americana, and from 3.382 to 3.695% for Lokon. Americana was more tolerant than Lokon to saturated soil culture. Number of Tied pods, 100- sads weight, and seed dry weight/plot of Americana were bigger than Lokon

Efektivitas Agronomik Fosfat Alam Diasamkan dengan Asam Sulfat dengan Berbagai Ukuran Butir Pada Tanah-Tanah Masam

    Get PDF
