    TEXTUAL EQUIVALENCE IN THE TRANSLATION OF ENGLISH TEXTS INTO INDONESIAN

    This research aims to determine textual equivalence in the translation of scientific texts in English into Indonesian in depth. This study used a qualitative approach using the content analysis method. The data to the analysis performed in this study based on the six-step qualitative research developed by Myring. The findings in this study indicate that: (1) The equivalence of thematic structure contained in the translation of textbooks Approaches to Discourse into Indonesian is the equivalence on the pattern/ thematic arrangement of the unmarked theme and a simple theme/topical theme, (2) the information structure equivalence Between source text (ST) and target text (TT) is the equivalence in the form of organization of given and new information. (3) Equivalence in the cohesive devices translation is found in the use of grammatical cohesive devices, (4) The translation method used is the literal translation, (5) The discovered distortion was fully related to the aspects of semantics and linguistic equivalents, (6) The factors causing distortion are the translators’ skills and competencies, (7) The impact inflicted by the various distortion in the target text (TT) is that the translation readersgetdifferent messages from the message of source text (ST)

    The purpose of this research is to gain a deep understanding: 1) The novel structure consisting of theme elements, plot, background, characterization and the message contained in J.K. Harry Potter novels Rowling. 2) The values of character education that include mindset, behavior, attitude, creativity and interest in J.K. Harry Potter's novels Rowling. And 3) The values of character education are viewed from the structural angle of hermeneutics contained in J.K. Harry Potter's novels. Rowling. This research uses qualitative approach with content analysis method, through hermeneutic study based on textual hermeneutic and cultural hermeneutic. The findings of the overall research values of character education in J.K. Harry Potter's novels Rowling's review of hermeneutic studies consisted of: the pattern of pikers amounted to 46 or 58.9%, attitudes amounted to 68 or 94.35% behavior 51 or 53.7%, interest amounted to 30 or 44.6%, and creativity amounted to 42 or 48, 5%. Based on the above data can be concluded from the three of Harry Potter's novels by J. K. Rowling the most is the attitude amounted to 68 or 94.35%. In the development of the story in J. K Rowling's Harry Potter novels emphasizes attitude. Meanwhile, the value of education as the least interest emerging amounted to 30 or 44.6%

    This scientific work is a qualitative research content analysis with genetic structural approach. The objective of this research to meet the existing educational values ​​in the novels The Red and the Black and The Charterhouse of Parma. This research began in November 2013 in Jakarta. Data for this research were taken of the novels to discuss as well as books about the life of the writer and French history in the nineteenth century. The analysis is based on the genetic and structural approach on historical data. The results of this research show that there are educational values ​​explicitly and implicitly in novels studied related to social events that took place at the time the novels were written. They appear in the learning-teaching, religion, social and political events. These values ​​can play a relevant role that can influence the behavior of readers. They could be people who put worth reading will; the desire to.acquire languages a..language like..Latin..andcuriosity..towards a colosal..event.  The results of this research could motivate university students of French to find the pleasure of reading novels in order to enrich them selves intellectually and culturally

    CREATIVE WRITING LEARNINGIN NATURE SCHOOL 2017

    This study was aimed to get a picture of creative writing learning in the 4th grade of Sekolah AlamTangerang. This research used an ethnography method. The data were collected through observation, documentation, and interview. The research showed that: (1) The type of syllabus used was a syllabus referring to the SAT curriculum and national curriculum. (2) The formulation of learning objectives was the maturity in creative writing. (3) The materials developed by the teachers included learning to write journal or book report, poem, comic, and article. (4) The strategies, approaches, methods, and techniques used refer to experience from the natural environment. (5) The roles of teachers and students in learning were equally important. (6) The most important infrastructures and learning media were nature-based. (7) The evaluation system used was more concerned with daily assessment. Overall, the creative learning process at the 4th grade of Sekolah Alam Tangerang forms its own cultural theme; that is nature-based learning

    LEARNING CREATIVE WRITING MODEL BASED ON NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING

    The objectives of the study are to determine: (1) condition on learning creative writing at high school students in Makassar, (2) requirement of learning model in creative writing, (3) program planning and design model in ideal creative writing, (4) feasibility of model study based on creative writing in neurolinguistic programming, and (5) the effectiveness of the learning model based on creative writing in neurolinguisticprogramming.The method of this research uses research development of Learning Model. The research data are obtained by observation, interviews, questionnaires, expert assessment, and test results. The feasibility of the model is done through expert assessment, testing one-to-one, small group trial, a large group trial, and trial on its effectiveness.The results of data analysis show that (1) the objective condition has various problems in learning to write short stories, (2) analysis of objectives has varous needs, deficiencies, and desire of students and teachers in developing creative writing based on learning model in neurolinguistic programming, (3) learning model covers focus, syntax, social system, the principle of reaction, means of support, and the impact of learning, (4) eligibility models by experts produces valid result, a trial one-to-one has practical result, a small group trial, and large group trial obtain enforceability of the model in good criteria, and (5) model-based learning creative writing in neurolinguistic programming is proved to be effective in improving skill of high school students to write short stories in Makassar. &nbsp

    The objectives of the research were three novels of Asma Nadia which discussed the issue of women. The novels are Surga yang tak dirindukan, Asslamualaikum Beijing, Cinta 2 Kodi. This research used qualitative approach with content analysis method using gynocritic study. The data of this research was obtained through the reading of the novel repeatedly and intensively, identifying, recording, classifying, and testing the validity of the data through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The issues discussed in this research related to Novel Structure and Biology of Women. The findings of this research is recommended in practice for the next researchers who will complete the study of the other side, and to the lectures who want to teach literature, especially the works of literary novels

    This research is aimed to know the condition of English for Secretary (EFS) teaching material at Secretarial Academy of Budi Luhur (ASTRI Budi Luhur), to develop EFS teaching material based on inquiry learning approach through e-learning Moodle and to know the effectiveness of EFS teaching material that is developed by the Researcher. The method that is used in this research is Research and Development, meanwhile the phases that are used in this research is Integrative Learning Design Framework (ILDF) phases. The validity of the product of this research is examined by using expert judgment. The result of this study shows that EFS instructional material that has been used in ASTRI Budi Luhur considered not feasible to be used in teaching EFS, therefore the researcher arrange an instructional material that is accordance with the needs of students ASTRI Budi Luhur. Based on the large group testing, the developed instructional material can be implemented well. And the result of the perception test that has been conducted to the user shows that the developed material is very feasible to use and it gives a good result in teaching learning process

    Phonological Acquisition of A Child Suffering from Language Delay

    This study deals with language acquisition which investigates the phonological acquisition of a child suffering from language delay. A case study design with cross-sectional survey type is used and it was conducted at Jl. Ujung Serdang, Komp. Cendana Asri No 21 Tanjung Morawa Medan, North Sumatera Indonesia, where a five year old child was chosen to be the subject. In collecting the data, this study applies documentation with audio visual recorder as the instrument of collecting data and the technique of data analysis used in this study was descriptive technique, then the data were described through the process of transcribing and reducing the data by the process of selecting, focusing, simplifying, transforming the transcripts of the data, then displaying the data and finally drawing the conclusions. The findings indicate that the subjects of this study who suffers from language delay in his five year old had mastered vocabularies covering noun, adjective, verb, and adverb, and the data show that he acquired more noun comparing to adjective, verb and adverb. In case of phonological acquisition, seven phonological processes were found: stopping process, fronting process, voicing process, clustering reduction process, deleting of final consonant process, deleting of unstressed process and reduplicating process. In expressing the language in his daily life, sometimes he used the body language to help him deliver the message

    The objective of this research is to get a deep understanding about religious values in the theme structure of traditional Seloko of Jambi Malay. This research used content analysis method to analyze the extrinsic elements of seloko containing religious values. This method was combined with hermeneutic study technique to reveal the structure and implicit meanings of the texts in Jambi Malay seloko. Data in this research are traditionalseloko containing religious values. Primary data were obtained from a collection of traditional seloko of Jambi Malay recorded by Lembaga Adat of Jambi Province. The results of this research show that the themes of traditional seloko of Jambi Malay are related to the religious values of man’s relationship with God, man with nature, man with society, and man with himself

    The Effect of Learning Model and Creative Thinking Ability on Students' Recount Writing Skill

    The aim of the study is to find out the effect of learning model and creative thinking ability on students' recount writing skill. It was an experimental study with 2x2 factorial design and analysed using two-factor ANOVA at 0.05 significance level. The sample was 32 students and divided into two groups, namely experiment and control. The data were collected using recount writing test in English and creative thinking ability test. The research finding showed: (1) the students' recount writing skill taught by project-based learning model was higher than by genre-based learning model, (2) there was interaction between learning model and creative thinking ability on students' recount writing skill, (3) the students' recount writing skill with high creative thinking ability taught by project-based learning model was higher than those by genre-based learning model, and (4) the students' recount writing skill with low creative thinking ability taught by project-based learning model was lower than those by genre-based learning model
