The Concept of Human Unity and Islamic Inclusive Education: A Study of KH. Imam Zarkasyi’s Thought in Social Change
This study aims to identify and to analyze KH. Imam Zarkasyi’s paradigm model of thinking in increasing the value of inclusive Islamic education based on human unity value through historical-philosophical approach. The result is that the paradigm model of Tawhid Worldview constitutes rationality value to liberate science bigotry among tribes, ethnic, cultural or religious understanding. Rationality value to build scientific epistemology in Islamic education inclusive curriculum content can be implemented through the integration of social sciences culture of sources of Islamic teachings, the philosophy of Pancasila and socio-cultural diversity of learners locally, nationally and internationally. On the other hand, rationality value will change the learning approach and method, and civilizing values of inclusive education through religious communal environment. The paradigm model can balance value function and mental changes and inclusive personality of local, national and international Muslim generation
The Content Mastery among Islamic Education Teachers in Junior Islamic Secondary Schools in Surakarta
The study aims to describe the content mastery among Islamic Education teachers in all MTs/N (Islamic Secondary School) located in Surakarta. A mixed method was used in this study, where the teachers of MTsN and private MTs in Surakarta involved in this study. Test, interview and documentation became the instruments of this study. For ensuring the validity, the researcher used expert judgment. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The results of the study showed that in overall the average scores in the Islamic Education materials had been 74 – which was quite low for a teacher. Meanwhile, some of the teachers got only 47 as compared to100 for the maximum score. From four subjects in the Islamic Education, the score of the teachers’ academic test from the highest to the lowest would be displayed as follows: Qur’an Hadits were 76.40; Fiqh was 76.40; SKI was 73.46; and Aqidah Akhlak was 72.40. It Indicated that the content mastery in the Qur’an – Hadits and Aqidah Akhlak had been higher than that of Fiqh and SKI
The Contribution of Locus of Control to Academic Procrastination in Islamic Education Management Students in Indonesia
This study aimed to describe the locus of control and academic procrastination, and investigate whether there is significance contributions of locus of control on student academic procrastination. This research was conducted by the Ex post-facto method was used in this study, where the data taken from two set of questionnaires. Proportional Stratified Random Sampling was used. There were 107 students involved this study. The results showed that the locus of control is in average level, meanwhile, and the students’ academic achievement was high. The study also showed that there is a significant contribution between the locus of control on students' academic procrastination. The article concludes that the importance that locus control for procrastination research, and with suggestions for educators who work with students who are adversely affected by procrastination
The Contribution of Zapin as One of Malay Traditional Arts in Curriculum 2013
Zapin consists of three elements which are complementary to create movement harmony and rhythm that beautiful to look, heard and seen. They are music, song and dance. Zapin is one culture comes from Arab that developed in archipelago line with Islamization process. Zapin in Nusantara grew and developed in accordance with the customs and conditions of the local community. It becomes palace art for events such as welcoming guests and celebrations in the kingdom and also entertainment for society. The study aims to determine the contribution of Zapin in the Curricullum 2013. A Mixed research was used where the data taken from documentation, observation, and interview. The finding of the study showed that although modern art has been rife enter and expand in the archipelago but Zapin as cultural heritage still exist in society because of its content in accordance with teaching point and attitude of society that moral and spiritual precedence. It means that Zapin with all devices containing a core competence value contained in curriculum 2013. It is concluded that the contribution of Zapin as one of Malay traditional arts might contribute to the strengthening of curriculum 2013
Islamic Education at Mughal Kingdom in India (1526-1857)
One of the legacies of Islamic civilization in India was the Mughal dynasty that had encouraged the new revival of the old and almost drowned civilization. With the presence of this dynasty, the glory of India with Hindus civilization reappeared. Recorded in the history of Islam, the dynasty was established in the middle period. After the mid-over, there appeared three great kingdoms to rebuild the progress of Muslims. Among the major kingdoms were royal Mughal. The third crown can already be categorized as a superpower in those days, because the greatness of the kingdom had been able to organize the economic, political as well as military.. Islamic education at this time gained considerable attention. For this purpose, the royal Mughal made the mosque as a place of worship other than as a place of religious learning for the community. The mosque indeed had been provided with scholars who gave various lessons of religious knowledge. In fact, the mosques had also been completed with special rooms for students who wanted to stay for their education. Therefore, almost every mosque developed certain religious sciences with special teachers
Effective School Performance Stages at Public Senior High Schools in Indonesia
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the stages of effective school performance based on 11 characteristics of effective schools as well as to evaluate the level of correlation between individual characteristics of effective schools and the contribution of the school principal leadership to an effective school. 60 school principals and 105 teachers in 16 schools became sample of the research. The number of teachers took as many as 7 to 10 people for each school. The quantitative data were obtained through a set of instruments on 11 characteristics of effective schools. The data were then analyzed descriptively using frequency, min score, percentage, standard deviation, and inferential statistics (Pearson’s correlation, simple linear regression). Findings showed the stages of effective school performance of Public Senior High Schools in Padang as perceived by the principals and teachers were very high. There was a significant correlation between the professional principal leadership with the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools. The professional principal leadership contributed as much as 58.5% to the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools in Public Senior High Schools in Padang while the other percentage was contributed by other variabels not included in this study. The principal leadership was an important factor for the realization of 11 characteristics of effective schools in Public Senior High Schools in Padang
Identifying Characters of “Where Angel Fear to Tread Novel†in Teaching Literary Work
The aim of the research is to identify some characters in the novel Where Angels Fear to Tread in teaching literary works. In learning of characters, someone will understand about the term of the interests, desires, emotions, and moral those form the individual within a story. Library research was used in thid study. The experts divide characters become two characters; they are central characters and additional characters. Central characters are a character who takes the greatest part in the main character or a figure that is most telling. Volume appearance of the main character more than the other characters. Meanwhile, additional characters or subordinate figures are figures that appear once or several times, figures that support or assist the central figure. In the novel Where Angels Fear To Tread, writer found some figures or characters such as: Mrs. Herriton, Lilia, Philip, Gino, and Carroline Abbot. Each of them had different characters; Mrs Herriton was a selfish and arrogant because she came from a high social status. Lilia was a patient and never denied what was ruled by her mother in-low although sometimes she was often treated her like slaves. Philip was figured as a handsome man, his tolerance and empathy were high. Gino was figured as stupid character. Miss Abbott as a nice, quiet, dull, and friendly
The Correlation between Indonesian Students’ Vocabulary Mastery and Their Reading Comprehension
Exploring students’ background knowledge in pre-reading activities suggests the importance of interaction in the process of meaning making which requires appropriate vocabulary. Although many factors constitute students’ comprehension, vocabulary should be the main concern in EFL reading classes. Consistence with this premise, the current study was aimed at proving the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading achievement at the fourth semester of STKIP Dharma Bakti Lubuk Alung. This correlational study involved 70 students taken through cluster random sampling. Vocabulary and reading test were employed to determine the correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension. Through Correlation of Product Moment, coefficient correlation between two variables was found to be 0.61 with index correlation in r-table was 0.1617 for α= 0.05, suggesting that the coefficient correlation between two variables (rxy) t-calculated was bigger than t-table. It means that H1 was accepted and H0 was rejected. In conclusion, there was a positive correlation between students’ vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension at the fourth semester students of STKIP Dharma Bakti Lubuk Alun
Method of Teaching Arabic in Madrasah Tarbiyah Islamiyah Koto Panjang Lampasi Payakumbuh
Methods of teaching Arabic and their innovations will be a challenge for any teachers of Arabic. Therefore, teaching Arabic will also require the intelligence of each teacher to understand the aspects related to learning outcomes, namely by creating new techniques in teaching Arabic language so that students become more active, skillful, able to master and proficient Arabic. Boarding school of Madrasah Islamiah Tarbiyah Koto Panjang Lampasi has proven itself as the school of giving motivation, and innovation in the development of generations of people who have been able to reach the highest point of improvement, both in quantity and in quality of the students’ achievements. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive which describes methods of teaching Arabic at MTI Koto Panjang Lampasi Payakumbuh. The source of the data of this research is the teachers, students, the foundations, and community. The technique of collecting data obtained from various teachers who taught Arabic at MTI through interviews and observations. The results showed that there are 10 steps of Arabic language learning method applied in MTI Koto Panjang
The Contributions of Quranic Tahfidz to Mental Health
One of the miracles of the Quran is believed to influence the human’s mental health, particularly to those who can memorize it. The Huffazh (Quranic Tahfidz) has been discussed in many verses, but only recently that scientific investigation gauged this issue, resulted in tremendous efforts to implant it among Muslim communities. The current study seeks to uncover the contribution of Quranic Tahfidz to mental health. Eight hundred and twenty- eight students studying Islamic Studies in the Faculty of Islamic Education and Teacher Training were interviewed, observed, and given questionnaires to find out their level of tahfidz and mental health. The findings revealed among other things that 62.5 percents of the respondents were the huffadz for 1 to 5 juz. The huffazh in 6 to 10 juz constituted 7.5 percents, and there were only 10 huffazhs who memorized up to 10 juz
