The Islamic Education for Single Parent's Family: A Case study in Karaban Jaya
Everyone craves having family integrity. Because the integrity of the family makes it easy to share roles between fathers and mothers both in earning a living or doing household chores including the obligation to educate their children. But in reality, many find all these roles to be borne by one person or called a single parent, could be a father or mother. Usually it happens because of separation due to divorce or death of one of them, thus making the responsibility of raising all their children more difficult. For children, family (both parents) is the main environment they need. So from that family the parents can provide better protection and education for their future life provisions. The obligation of parents as mentioned in the Qur'an is to protect themselves and their families from the fires of hell. Then the family should become a madrasa in introducing Islamic education. As an educator in the family, parents must have the expertise and art of educating, one of the skills that must be mastered is the method. There are several methods that families can use in educating their children. This research focuses: how is the pattern of single parent care in the perspective of Islamic education to children in Karaban Jaya . The research method is qualitative with a case study approach. The results showed that parenting to educate children in single parent families in Keraban Jaya Village was by example, giving advice, motivation, and giving attention and supervision to children from young to teenagers. While the values of Islamic education taught include strengthening monotheism, worship, moral or moral cultivation, forming mentality and applying discipline or control
The Reconstruction of Indigenous Knowledge about Golobe (Hornstedtia alliacea) as a Natural Resource Conservation Study for Prospective Teachers’ Scientific Literacy
This study intended to measure prospective science teachers' scientific literacy through a conservation course on a natural resource topic. The natural source as the research object was golobe, an endemic plant in Maluku which has been consumed as the traditional medicine by the local community, which was studied for its chemical properties. Golobe is believed to have the properties to cure diseases. The lab testing revealed that golobe contains alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, steroids, polyphenols, antioxidants and antibacterial properties. The scientific knowledge based on the lab report was reconstructed using the Science Integrated Learning (SIL) model. The obtained laboratory test results were matched up with the indigenous knowledge of the golobe. The indigenous knowledge of local community on golobe was converted to be the scientific knowledge. Then, the result of reconstruction was applied as the basis of Conservation Education course material development. The research target included prospective science teachers joining the Conservation Education course. The assessed scientific literacy consisted of (1) knowing scientific questions; (2) exploring; (3) identifying scientific evidence; (4) laboratory work; (5) drawing up conclusions; (6) communicating, and (7) demonstrating. Prospective teachers have owned the seven components of scientific literacy after studying natural resource conservation materials. The research concluded that the use of the knowledge reconstruction of Golobe in the North Loloda Tribe, North Maluku, Halmahera Archipelago has an impact on the development of prospective teachers’ scientific literacy
Teacher’s Communication Model in Learning Islamic Education for Autism Children
The communication model in the education process is the main thing—no exception in education for children who experience psychological difficulties such as children. The material, methods, and learning media needed are supported by a useful communication model to help the progress of religious education for autistic children. This study uses teacher communication methods in learning Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Data collection uses interviews with the support of documentation in the form of photos, videos, and event support during field monitoring. Relevant research results in the study show that the communication model applied in the teaching of Islamic religion in special autistic school children, Bina Anggita Yogyakarta, uses two models: 1 (one) Direction and 2 (two) Directions. One-way communication is used for children whose verbal ability has not yet appeared. While 2-Way communication is used for autistic children who are able to communicate verbally. Strategies in learning use the concept of one teacher, one child. While education is done using the ABA and PECS methods. This method is useful in training and training students in expressing their desires. Based on the findings in this study, the communication model applied in special autism children development schools can be used as a learning model in other schools that manage autistic children
School Climate in Improving Conducive Learning Quality in MIN 2 Sibolga
School climate is “heart†and “breath†in a school. It relates to all interaction components among school members from culture, social until the harmonization of the learning environment which affects the output quality. This study discusses the school climate in increasing learning quality in MIN (State Islamic Primary School) 2 Sibolga. The scope of the study focused on how to produce a school climate and its role in improving learning quality in MIN 2 Sibolga. This study applied the qualitative approach and school activities as the object of the study, such as daily routine, programmed activities, and self-development activities. The result of the study showed that a “conducive†school climate was created well in MIN 2 Sibolga, it could be seen from (1) creating a conducive learning climate, (2) managing school environment, (3) developing school psychologic-cultural routines, and (4) improving “discipline†culture for school members. However, there were some obstacles, such as inadequate infrastructure, low teacher competence, less financing, less student development, and lack of training for the teachers
The Strategy of Madrasah in Developing Civil Society at State Islamic Senior High School III Yogyakarta
The growth of advanced society gave birth to independent community groups. Therefore, social change needs to be anticipated so that people are not dictated by change and are able to act affirmatively. Madrasah as an Islamic educational institution is very important for Indonesia's future to contribute in building civil society. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively assimilate the madrasah strategy as an Islamic educational institution in building civil society. This is a qualitative research with a qualitative-naturalistic approach by collecting data from literature research as well as field research, the data obtained are then followed by stages, namely description, data reduction, data selection, data analysis, discussion, and conclusions. The results of the study showed the strategies of madrasah as Islamic Education institutions to build civil society, namely (1) Madrasah lays the most rational basis for taking internal and external steps by instilling moral law, unity in diversity, community-based social system, with the aim of improving the positive image of madrasah in the community. (2) The systemic role of madrasah realizes civil society with some program: first, organizing a school’s community service program (SKN) in the established target villages with the aim of appreciating the knowledge taught in madrasah to the community. second, the development of religious social skills, students will acquire life skills by carrying out various activities that have the spirit of Islam in the community: educating students to play an active role in society, introducing madrasah to the outside world in order to build a society that is democratic, religious, tolerance, independent and tough to face internal and global challenges towards civil society
The Competencies of the Islamic Primary Madrasah Student Teachers in Developing K 13-Based Lesson Plan in Aceh
This study aims to examine the extent to which the Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (PGMI) or Islamic primary madrasah student teachers have been competent in developing K13-based lesson plan. 34 students studying at PGMI Department of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of a state Islamic university participated in this study. This research employed qualitative descriptive method. The results show that in general the ability of the student teachers in developing K13-based lesson plan fall into less and good categories. This indicates that the ability of the student teachers has not fully met the process standards of the 2007 regulation no 41 by Ministry of Education and Culture (MOEC). This suggests that the PGMI program make sure that every PGMI student teacher have adequate competencies of developing lesson plan based on K-13 based on the currently implemented approach, such as the scientific approach, and using it in their teaching well
The Development of Statistics Modules for the Students of Islamic Colleges and Universities in South Tapanuli
This study aims to develop a statistical module for the students of Islamic colleges and universities in South Tapanuli. Research and Development (RD) with Instructional Development Institute (IDI) model was implemented. This research consists of three stages, namely, the front-end analysis stage, the prototype stage, and the assessment stage. The results of the study showed that the statistical module that was designed was valid including content validity and construct. The result also showed the use of statistical modules in the learning process does not experience significant obstacles, in the practical sense of their use according to the assessments of observers and students and lecturers. It indicated that the statistical module has been effective which is shown from the results of observations on the implementation of the learning process, the results of interviews with lecturers and students, as well as higher student learning outcomes using modules in learning
The Selection of Outstanding Teachers to the Determination of Ranking on Professional and Intellectual Managerial Performances
The study aims to analyze the selection of outstanding teachers to the determination ranking on professional and intellectual managerial performances. A qualitative research was used where 91 teachers were selected based on the level of education from kindergarten to secondary school and vocational education. Â The results showed there are three data categories of professional and managerial performances of teachers, namely, high, medium and low. The three categories of data describe the various factors that affect the ability of the management professional and intellectual teachers among the demands of interpersonal of the profession, carrying out the task of teaching a high quality produces professional development, encouragement and motivation from leaders in the school, and a special confidence in the development of professional, as well as using the four dimensions (the assessment of emotion-self, appraisal of emotions of others, use of emotion, and emotion regulation) in improving the performance of teachers and the determination of the personal goals of the teacher in the academic achievement
Contemplation-based Learning: An Effective Learning Model for Serving Science and Self-Knowledge Integration
The study aims to produce feasible a contemplation-based learning model based on the aspect of validity and practicality for Biology prospective teachers. Research and development (RD) using ADDIE model was used where the participants in this study were three Biology Education lecturers, three experts, and 35 students who enroll at first semester at Biology Education department in Batusangkar State Islamic Institute (IAIN) as experimental subjects. The instruments used is observation, interview and questionnaire. Means and standard deviations were calculated for finding the level of validity and practicality of the prototype. The results showed that contemplation-based biology learning model meet the characteristics of the learning model and characteristic of contemplation. The contemplative approaches used through deep reading essays and paid attention to figures related to the subject matter of General Biology courses. The values cultivated are values contained in the subject matter. The values that contained in the material are islamic values, it is alasma’ ul husna. The contemplation-based learning model developed is feasible to be applied in the biology classroom with the most valid and very practical category. Thus, the contemplation-based learning model is a solution for overcoming the gap of serving science with self-knowledge and is an alternative learning model to integrate science and religion at Biology Education Department
Students’ Pedagogic and Professional Competencies in Teaching Practice Program
The research aims to describe pedagogical and professional competencies of students who enroll at the department of Islamic elementary education at Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training UIN Imam Bonjol Padang. A mixed method was implemented where the data collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results of the study on aspects of pedagogical competence was at the level of very good (82.4%). It was also found that the criteria to master the characteristics of students from the physical, moral, spiritual, social, cultural, emotional, and intellectual aspects were very good (80%), carrying out educational learning was very good (81%), facilitating the development of potential students to actualize various potentials which was very good (83%), communicating effectively, empathically, and politely with 88% of students (very good), and in evaluating and evaluating 80% (very good). While professional competence was with a value of 78.3% (good). Among the mastery of teaching material 78.5% (good), the use of learning media 77.5% (good), as well as contextual material or connecting teaching materials with the daily life of students 79% (good). The study recommended that prospective educators further improve pedagogical and professional competencies, often take part in training activities, practice teaching simulations. For the department of Islamic elementary education should be more professional to guide students during teaching practice programme activities, and lectures, especially in the field of teacher competency development
